I got my dad AND my grandma into Testris for the NES. MY dad still plays it to this day, but my grandma has since passed. I hope they have Tetris in heaven!
Give me a break. This isn't news; it's a random thrust for publicity by a mediocre, middle-aged technology columnist whose popularity has waned since he left the safety of the Mac fanatic world.
I'd say he was at his peak when he had his show on ZDTV, now Tech TV.
I doubt something like this will take over the music industry and replace regular CDs, but for handheld devices such as cameras and mp3 decoders -- this is perfect. Instead of carrying around your normal-cd-sized Discman, you will be able to carry a much smaller and lighter device for listening to music. For cameras, this could easily replace the microdrive (if they can get the burning technology small and cheap enough to fit in a camera)
I've been thinking of getting a new soundcard lately but I'm really not sure what I'm looking for. I honestly don't know what kind mine is, but I do know that it's PCI. (not built in to the motherboard.
I currently have a Y connecter coming out of the line-out, hooking up to Audio/Video Cables and going into the CD input on a reciever I have. That is then going out to two bookshelf speakers. It sounds good, but I think that I can get better sound by a newer sound card. What should I look for in a soundcard. I run win2kpro.
I see it happen all the time. I first noticed this sort of attitude when discussing music with people. Many are on the hunt for anything not mainstream just so they aren't following suit. Sadly, it has nothing to do with whether they like the music or not.
I can see the trend with operating systems, too. Some people put all functionality and reasoning aside, and base thier choice on what makes them look cool.

I think some of you are expressing concern because you don't want the mass public using anything but Windows. When everyone starts moving in on your elite OS, it no longer is the cool thing to use, so you must find something else to move on to....
I don't really see how this is much different than say, The Sims online. Users' create their own virtual world, and when they connect, they can converse with other people playing who have also created thier own virtual world.
A big game devoloper should definetly stick with this idea, though. It's got a promising future.
I think internet access is the key element in this argument. Although web browsing on a PDA may not be extremely efficiant, a student can have a friend sitting infront of a computer at home relaying test questions through a messaging service. It's not that far-fetched.
do other conflicts in the classroom include PDA functions that may help a student on an exam that aren't included in a calculator? I could see profs being concerned about students using thier PDA to cheat.
I dunno, the divx option and several other rumors are really pushing me to buy an x-box. I'll still probably wait for another price drop, but some things are just too good to pass up. Especially with future talk of X-Box being a tv-on-demand box...
you might want to also look into the price on recievers. do all recievers support sirus and XM? if not, which are cheaper? Check Crutchfield for prices on recievers.

The RoboCup people have made it their goal to create a team of robots tht will beat the world cup winner by 2050. Pretty amazing stuff.
Gotcha, thanks.
I'm not sure I understand fully.
