You don't realize how much the edges of your palm resting on the desktop help you move your mouse where you want to move it - a little downward pressure and your hand stops immediately, a little anchored rotation and you can navigate pixel by pixel. The muscle memory is in many joints in your hand, wrist, and arm.
Holding the mouse in the air eliminates the benefits of resting your hand on the table.
Seriously... when are we going to get rid of these spinning platters? There's no incentive to come up with new tech cuz the old tech is cheap and known, despite the fact that it SUCKS for multiple reasons (reliability, speed, noise.)
Just look at swordboy's sig... WHERE are Solid State Hard Drives!?!
Their new Blue Gene family of super computers is meant to be 6 times faster, consume 1/15 of the power and be 1/10 the size of current models
If it's 1/10 the size and 1/15 the power and it's still faster, then we can stick 15 of them in a room, get the same power consumption, and have a larger "much faster" computer that you're looking for. This seems like a win-win direction to go in, for IBM.
Family guy has more witty comedy packed into a half hour than any other show I've seen... it's offensive at times (Stewie often plots to kill his mom, and unlike Homer who's funny because of his ignorant, Peter is ignorant and often often *mean*). Still, if that sort of humor doesn't bother you there are some real gems in each episode, real "laugh out loud" moments, which is rare nowadays.
"I'd imagine the HDTV change will happen almost overnight, much like the DVD revolution"
I really doubt this - DVD players were relatively inexpensive, and there were plenty of DVDs available at a reasonable price.
The investment of HDTV is huge - a new TV, new receiver, new service, etc.

The original site is handling the traffic worse than the offending site! =(

Why is this surprising? This way, we can discuss it while watching the broadcast...

Just take an old product, and continually remove chunks of code from it. That's smart thinking right there. New features? Nah. They might have bugs.

I notice "people with many years experience in the field" is not on your list, as it shouldn't be.

So my dual monitor setup is double-notgood for me? =(

I have a Samsung E715, it has exactly that =) The LED doubles as a nighttime flash for the camera.

The RIAA says to iTunes: either you only sell music that's produced through us, or you don't get ANY of the music produced through us.

It would be cool if they mapped this high resolution surface in Keyhole.
It already has Mars, but it's very low resolution (and not very 3d.)
~Berj
I resemble that statement =(

I think the sound you're talking about is the sound at the end of DOOM 2, when the end boss shoots out those spawn-cubes!
That thing's everywhere, and very recognizable... but I can't find an audio clip of it =/
~Berj
How many sound effects have names and followings? =)
How about the sound at the end of Doom II, when the spawn-cubes shoot out??

There's one little girl (the really cute one from the Shire, when Bilbo's telling his story) who appears in Helm's Deep and in Minis Tirith too! ~Berj
