From the looks of things, even in regular 3d gaming the ti4200 AND the Radeon 8500 both put the Parhelia to shame.
After looking at 4 reviews I did notice one thing, though. The image quality appears to be pretty good on the parhelia, but I think the AA from the Geforce4 line can pretty much match the quality of the matrox. Hell, even the radeon's isn't too bad.
If someone is going to blow $400 on this card, they'd best be just using it for the triple-head display.. I think they'd be disappointed if it was just for a single-monitor setup.
So what? If the big industry is backing said band and it sells say 5 million copies of it's CD... At $15(USD) a CD if the company ONLY sees 10% of that, well..
Let's just say a million bucks out of 7.5 is pretty negligable, but we ALL know that they see more than 10% out of those CDs.
At least it's a step in the right direction. If they see that people respond well to it being available on their website maybe they'll actually put some in retail chains?
I may be a windows "l3w53r", but I'd still love to see a linux flavor I'm familiar with marketed in a big chain like that.
People have been able to do similar things for years. Theres other companies out there right now (dell for instance) that have a warning that pops up saying that the case was removed. Theres also other cases you can buy that have the ability to do the same.
If you wanted to it wouldn't be incredibly difficult to wire up a contact to the inside of your PC case. Using that dry contact you could either trigger an alarm (audible or visual) or just write out a timestamp to a log.
Just imagine... Someone cracks open your PC and a 175Db alarm sounds. Seems like a good idea to me!:)
Well, I've watched a lot of DVD movies and I have to admit I've not once run into a problem with region encoding. Maybe if I was importing a bunch of Japanese anime or something I'd have issues, but nothing yet.
For the average user I don't think region encoding really causes *too* much of a problem. I don't think the same could be said of CD copy protection.
What if other digital devices come out (car MP3 players for example) that don't allow you to listen to those CD's there, either? It's a stretch, but it's the truth.
I do agree with you though, region encoding seems very unnecessary.
"Music creators have the right to protect their property from theft, just like owners of any other property," Sherman said. "Motion picture studios and software and video game publishers have protected their works for years, and no one has even (thought) to claim that doing so was inappropriate, let alone unlawful."
Uhm. Hello? Is this thing on?
DVD movies and PC games don't crash other platforms when you put them in last I checked. DVD movies work on DVD PLAYERS. PC games work on PC's. Music CD's should work on ALL CD PLAYERS.
What do they expect? If I pop'd a music CD in my PC and it locked my box I'd be awfully pissed off too.

You're right! Boycott everything!
Duping/hacking/cheating isn't friggin' BAD ENOUGH on battle.net. Go ahead and let them COMPLETELY ruin any semblance of order by allowing people to interoperate and "write their own apps" for it.
No, but as it usually goes upon release it WILL be faster and better. These pre-release chips are designed with nothing but stability in mind.
Though being an "unauthorized" test, there were TONS of them at Computex. Unauthorized or not, it was bound to happen. Do you think AMD released these chips to these motherboard MFG's/other distributers and said "Now children, don't go running any benchmarks on these!"
Seriously, any game that you can destroy a ship by lighting a match in space is a-ok in my book.
Do we REALLY need another campaign setting? Dark Sun, Birthright, Spelljammer, Al-Qadim and I'm sure some others have flopped. Dragonlance 5th age sucked too. Hell, do they even RELEASE Ravenloft stuff anymore? Thought not.
They went and took away all the good stuff, but at least left us with Forgotten Realms (whew).
No, it outperforms the 1600 by 1FPS. Still quite the feat. If this thing releases at even 1200mhz, you're looking at something comparable to a P4 2.4ghz. The site does say they stated they were aiming for 1.6ghz (nice!), but we'll see if that actually happens.
It's nice to see that the industry isn't playing too much of the "more is faster" game, at least as much as they used to. When an 800mhz part is comparable to a 1600mhz, you've got to wonder what intel isn't doing to optimize.
They said that 4 fuel filters and 2 belts were replaced on the trip, and say that this could be a normal scenario for an "average" car on a trip of that level? If I took my new grand am 3000 miles, I wouldn't expect to have to do a DAMN thing except put gas in it and get an oil change when I start and when I'm done..
If I have to replace 2 belts and 4 fuel filters, you can goddamn well bet I'll be stopping at the nearest dealer on my way.
"OMFG they arrested me and all I did was hack a system and steal resources!"
*shakes his head*
Stealing is ILLEGAL!
Warwhacking
Warpr0ning
Warpooping?
The possibilities are endless!
Before you know it some poor geek is going to get beat down in urban Chicago by a gang because they think he's marking their "turf".
Hrm. I thought most people already had the pirated version of this trailer, oh, 3 months ago?
I did it so as not to whore karma, no other reason. :p

From what I've seen the parhelia doesn't run too spectacularly at high resolutions (read: 1600x1200) with AA of any sort.
I'd rather have my game running at 100FPS@1600x1200 with no AA than 35FPS with 16X AA.
From the looks of things, even in regular 3d gaming the ti4200 AND the Radeon 8500 both put the Parhelia to shame.

This is a special humour game
This game is my first work.
You're the first player.
I hope you would like it.
Prepare for Attack of the Klez.
Yeah, I realize Al-Qadim is part of FR. I used to DM it ;p That doesn't mean it didn't flop after a short few years of development though.
Pity too, it's quite the interesting world.. But with Dark Sun still around at the time it wasn't much of a surprise that it tanked.

That's EXACTLY what they wanted.
Doh!
On second look, WoTC just release a new D20 Ravenloft core book.
Silly me.
*re-hands in the whitepapers for Spelljammer*
