In the past year, lindows has seemed to lost its support from developers and advocates because of its business practices (taking over the desktop linux summit) and technical practices (running the desktop as root i believe was an issue). Although Xbox Linux Project was hugely popular and successful, it only seemed to put the spotlight on you, not your projects. Besides cash prizes, what kind of incentives or strategies are you planning to regain the, in my opinion, much needed OSS developers and their talents.
Do you believe that Lindows may regain some respect by hiring top linux kernel developers, like Redhat has? (One could state that this has allowed them to dodge heat for their business practices)

Since, I'm only a student, all I have gotten to see is the user side. Thanks for switching to PSIS. The WebObject version just sucked, every week the thing would be down, not that it mattered, the teacher had no clue how to use it.
"...although teachers are happier and performance is better..."
thats an understatement.
If you here in Bismarck, I would enjoy meeting you. No one to talk to about to about CS in this god forsaken city.
BTW...thanks for closing off linuxconf and a butch of random ports, it was getting tempting:).
That would actually be a great idea for AOL, I remember back in the 6th grade I would just use AOL floppies to back up my info; everyone did. We were basically walking adverts for AOL.
Its because they don't want to create mass panic. Same reason that sci-fi shows say they hide aliens. If people would know that they were affected, they would act inrationally and cancel their cards or whatever. (I dont have a CC, I hope not to either, so I dont know the system well)
I not sure that I agree with the policy, I, of course, believe the whole "Information must be free thing", but I can see their logic.
One of those articles referred to the case in title, being shocked that any legal precendent has been set in ND, I looked that case up...very interesting read and something that may get tossed around during dicussion of an Internet Tax.
Anyone else think that, that lady is exactly what you would picture the person that would announce such a feat to be.

I honestly think that the difference between 2050 and 2002 will not be as drastic as 1950 and now.
IMHO...robots will be available (well they technically are in the capacity of that 'Cye' thingy), but in the capacity of tablet pcs or segways are now (Neat, useful, but expensive and somewhat impractical).
Things will have improved, sure, but I wont be expecting a Christmas list include a G10 Titanium Laptop with a Terabyte of RAM and 100 Ghz Proc. Or to be able to browse pr0n in with my implant. Or even to have the US as a totalarian state.

Great, old, sci-fi. Seem almost like the predacer to the matrix to me.
So then, does that mean that the installation of ISDN lines (provisioning) is just plugging digital straight in/skipping the loss for conversion?
As far as Hacker Ethics go, this one lands smack dab on freedom of information.
I personally love it, the Robin Hood style rob information from the rich, give it to the poor.
Its really the greatest justification for the hacker/cracker subculture. (lets face it, NO ONE is going to say cracker, the term is used)
Ya, i do understand the postion of the company, but hell, there has to be a better way of dealing with vuln.

I've been shopping for a 500-700 mhz ibook and that price has nice prices. Competitive with ebay.

Things just can't get any better for IBM as far as it public images, can it?
With the $1b it spent on Linux a few years ago, it got the view of the great savior of linux and the rebel with a cause.
Now look at this suite and what half the linux community is seeing, its now the great defender and the motherly figure.
Thought it couldnt top itself before. Got to love IBM.
That immune cells have been found to produce singlet oxygen is much more interesting, I think, than the finding that bodies produce ozone.

"nobody can complain about Linux not being enough like XP"
Who is complaining about this? The farther I am from XP, the happier I am. KDE3 can be a little too close for comfort.
On a similiar note, I notice that I couple of new programs I d/l'ed look XPish in WINE, is there some kind of seperate APIs or what for XP?
