I can't believe you wouldn't ever, ever, ever, ever claim that a person with no dependents gets off better with a company's medical plan
Except that at most companies they do. A person with no dependents typically pays less because in the long run they will typically use less medical benefits than an employee with a wife and five kids.
In my salary range, my current employer charges $13.24 a week for employee only HMO vs. $69.80 for employee+family. Even when I worked for a nation-wide bank or hotel chain the charges were very similar.
You mean Lotus Notes? According to an IBM press release Lotus Notes for Linux has been available since July 2006. I'm running Notes 8.1 under openSUSE 11 as I type this.
10 years is a LONG time in tech. I fully expect things to be quite different, online-wise, than they are now.
Has the internet changed that much since 1997? I'm sure, 10 years ago, someone said the exact same thing about the internet and how it was going to be super different, but it seems to me it's still the same old thing. I still use the same client programs to access everything the internet has to offer. Sure web sites are fancier but underneath it all it's still the same.
Save yourself the trouble and get and HP. I'm finishing up a mathematics degree, and my trusty HP-49G+ saw plenty of use. Sure the buttons started to break after a few years, but that was a common problem on the 49G+. I've heard that the new 50G has that all taken care of though.
That's nice and all, but it's that mentality that got us into this mess in the first place. Maybe if us Americans were kindler and gentler the rest of the world wouldn't hate us so much, and wouldn't want to hijack our airlines?
I searched all over the www.banghowdy.com site, and could find no reference to Mayfair Games, but there sure are a lot of similarites between the two games. Both set in the Wild West, both use cards for special powers, even the way the name bang! is drawn is the same for both games. Bang! Howdy was definatly influenced by Bang! (the card game).

Gadgets for the Lazy

Sure. Since these Bugle emulators should last at least five years, so by your reasoning, hiring 5 people to play would cost $375,000. So they'd end up spending more for real people to do the job, but it's only the tax payers money, and it's virtually unlimited so who cares, right?
I grant that some of the gadgets are for the lazy, but what about the following: Motor lounger - isn't relaxing the point of going to the pool? Shoe mops - put on feet, walk, mop or pick up mop, walk, mop. Doesn't seem that lazy to me Shoe dryer - how else am I supposed to dry my shoes? Blow on them, place them in the dryer/sun, light a fire? Juiceator - how is using this any less lazy than drinking from the carton? Electric fly swatterer - You still gotta hit flies with it, this any no Venus Fly Trap.
Since I the Japanese don't want them, I'd be happy to pick up a couple for $150. There's a lot of morons here in the States that will still pay $700-900 for a 360.
Are there really PC gamers who stopped paying PC games and went solely to the Xbox?
Yes, I was one of them. I had been a huge PC gamer, but after having been given the Xbox for my birthday, I soon realized after years of console neglect just how much fun it was to play on a console. I also appreciated the fact that I didn't have to upgrade hardware every few months just to play the newest FPS. With console games you just pop in the disk and play, as opposed to the PC where you patch, get new drivers, upgrade you hardware, defrag your harddrive,... ad nauseum
For $5000, you'd think the warrenty would be a bit longer than 6 months. I realize that tech gets old pretty fast, but aren't they being a bit optimistic that in 6 months you'll realize how old school your PC had become and fork over another $5000.
I was not arguing that Americans changed the spelling of many English words. I agree with that.
Sorry, I miss understood your post.
I would have to say that aeroplane => airplane would just be more dumming down of our american vocabulary.;)
So we changed the spelling of "aeroplane" after the revolutionary war to distinguish ourselves from Britian?
Given that "after the revolutionary war" means from the end of the war until present day, yes that's exactly what it means.
This from wikipedia: The first American dictionary was written by Noah Webster in 1828. At the time America was a relatively new country and Webster's particular contribution was to show that the region spoke a different dialect from Britain, and so he wrote a dictionary with many spellings differing from the standard. Many of these changes were initiated unilaterally by Webster.

What type of crowd contol situations are the talking about, protests against using this weapon on American citizens?
Awesome. I knew there's a reason why I'm a math major.

It would have been much better had the judge ruled that the EULA is not evidence of a license.
A spacesuit is what you wear when you are in space. A cowsuit...?!
So, maybe Hawking should have said we need to get off earth and into cows?
Second most popular? Hell, I didn't even know sandisk made an mp3 player.

Both sound like someone trying to apologize and explain away someone elses bad behaviour.
In the windows case yes, in the husband case let's just say that wives have incredibly high expectations.
You must be new here, that happens already.
Small children are naturally scared of spiders, snakes and the like. This is no longer such an important criterion, so it is likely to wither.
As one with small children I can say that small children are definatly not naturally scared of spiders, snakes, and the like. Fear is learned.
I'm sure we'll be replacing our tinfoil hats with duct tape hats one of these days.
RTFA, and I think you'll see it should be duct tape tinfoil hats.
Yeah, seriously. The comment had been modded insightfull for a while, I guess I touched a sore spot.

"....You know that thing on the internet you look at, I helped make that...."
I don't think just ex-google employees will be the ones telling their kids/grandkids that. Just think about all the porn stars.
