Please don't get the impression that this was a city-wide project. In reality, the signal was only available over a few city blocks and one park in downtown Orlando.
This failure is clearly because of a poor location choice. The main branch of the Orange County library is only a block away from Lake Eola park where this project was centered, but no signal was available in the library when I was there earlier this year.
I would assume you were looking at this auction: here.
This drive is PC Card sized, which is not usable in any modern consumer digital camera. The seller was simply keyword spamming. "Microdrive" is actually a marketing name created by IBM (and then sold to Hitachi) for a hard drive with a CompactFlash interface, so neither this auction nor the Seagate drive can be legally called a Microdrive.

What happens when most of the entry level IT jobs are shipped overseas? Highly skilled jobs requiring more experience should always be in demand, but when the entry level IT jobs are gone, the US will be producing far less experienced IT workers.
Which is good news for those who already are "over the hump" of entry level IT. If this trend continues, I don't think I'll have to worry as much when I'm 50 about a 25 year old coming in to take my senior position for half my salary.
I've been using Mozilla for several months now, and the only thing I wish they'd implement is Netscape 4.x style bookmark scrolling.
I have a good 60 or so bookmarks, and I hate taking the time to scroll to the bottom of the list. It's so much nicer in Netscape where it just spills over to an additonal column.
Of course, I'm sure that others prefer the current IE style scrolling, so I'd be happy if it is implemented as an option.

I recently had 2 ~$500 payments sent to my dormant for months paypal account, which apparently set off some trigger (whether in the name of greed or security) and my account was subsequently frozen.
To unfreeze it, I needed to fax them:
A copy of my driver license
A copy of my most recent credit card statement
A copy of my most recent bank statement
A copy of a recent utility bill
Despite the glaring violation of privacy, I did get the account unfrozen in under 24 hours, and I did find them easy to communicate with. However, I do believe that Paypal needs to be regulated as much as your local bank.
Perhaps Slashdot could use this technology to put another banner ad up:

Although I'm a big fan of TiVo, in your case I'd reccommend a DishPVR if all you're concerned about is picture quality, unless you can get DirectTV in which case I'd reccommend a DirecTiVo.
DishPVR, DirectTiVo and UTV all store the satellite bitstream directly, so there is no quality setting, since there is no further compression.

This poster has blown things out of proportion, and is using out of date information.
First of all, the functionality of a non-subscribed TiVo is now the same in 2.5 as it was in 1.3. It has been fixed.
Of course, they want you to subscribe, it's thier source of revenue, hence the nag screens. After all, they do take a loss on every box they sell. But to say they are crooks is seriously unjustified.
Like many, I'm getting very tired of the Trek franchise.
However, I find Andromeda to be a refreshing show. Although there are some TNG like storylines (it is a Roddenberry show after all), the universe and characters are quite interesting.
For instance, Andromeda has advanced technology like seat belts, and consoles that don't explode and kill people! The character's don't blindly love thier captain like in TNG, and the dialog is quite un-Trekish. Oh, there's no holodeck!
It's still in it's first season shakedown, still I'm hoping it will get better with time, although the other recent Roddenberry series, Earth: Final Conflict was basically unwatchable by the middle of it's second season.
It takes about 10 seconds for my palm to boot, with about 20 programs and hacks installed.
But you're probably thinking about the near instantaneous wake up when you press the power button, because the power button is more accurately a sleep button.
The article above is about a cold boot, so if you'd like to compare apples to apples, press the reset button on your palm and see how long it takes to get to the main menu.
The TiVo service is indeed on the internet. Starting with version 1.3 the TiVo software allowed the user to use a local dial-up number, which is leased from UUNet. The actual updates are done via http and ftp.
Also, other people have successfully gotten updates to work over PPP and the serial connection, so it's not only theoretically possible, it's technically possible.
This is an interesting ruling, considering the telephone "typosquatting" rule between Holiday Inn and 800 Reservations, Inc. The court ruled that since the number was not used as a trademark, it created no confusion.

Come on now, give them some credit as they would never release 'GOxygen'. They will instead go by the much cooler name of GO2.
Actually, reselling most multiday amusement park tickets is not legal in Florida.

It just so happens I am in the market for a new garage door opener. Can anyone recommend a good opener that is not made by Chamberlain?

Step 1: Steal Underpants
Step 2: Pulverize underpants without destroying its organic compounds. Sell resulting powder to pharmecutical companies.
Step 3: Profit!
Can you frag me now? Good!

Have you ever had to involve Verizon/BellSouth/US West/etc in order to fix a problem? If so, how were they to deal with?
If they say anything positive about the telco, they are outta here faster than you can say "Paper MCSE".
BTW, one can search for trademarks here.

The Netgear FA310TX has 5 LEDs. At a cost of about $25, that's only $5/blinking light (the true measure of value).
