You should go see Dreamcatcher to see Dreamcatcher - it's worth it. If you're smart, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're not so smart, you likely won't get how cool it is.
Come on now, no need to get pretentious. I saw it tonight, and while yes, it's fun and campy, it isn't exactly what I'd call an intellectual film. Everything is pretty much presented at face value.. not much at all to "get". It's clever at best.. on par with Starship Troopers in my books.
Hey, no one ever said that he with the most ingenuity wins. We're dealing with what already is a cut-throat market. There's currently two competitors, one survives because half of the market doesn't trust the other. The other survives only by reducing costs by sacrificing stability and quality.
Where does Transmeta fit in? That tiny demographic that's willing to pay the extra cash for lower voltage and longer battery life? How long do you think they'll honestly survive serving a nich market..? Unless they can secure a serious foothold in the market by achieving Intels brand recognition, or matching AMD's prices, they're as good as gone.
I didn't mean to impy that the Transmeta chips were of poor quality.. that Cyrix remark was a wee bit out of place. The topic of third party chips always brings me right back to my horrid experiences with them. Sorry for those I offended.;)
As far as I know, Matrox primarily deals in business cards designed for enhancing 2D display (text, image editing, etc). I was referring to gaming cards.
but I have little faith in any third party entries in the CPU market at this point. Much like vid-cards, I the market only has enough room for a two horse race.
Don't worry about this guy. He's obviously a whiney little bitch without the intelligence to implement a simple filter on his incoming mail. Seriously, this happened for ONE night, and this guy cries like a little girl and reports the website to spamcop.
People don't want to watch TV/use a computer on a peripheral device. They want to do it sitting back in a comfy chair.
I doubt that this technology could easily be implemented into television. I pity the device that has to track 4 sets of eyes.. at varied distances over 10 feet.. in different positions about the room.

It occurs to me, considering that the uncensored version of these journals will go through tens of thousands of people in the scientific community, that if there were any information the forces of evil wanted from the journals, there will still be plenty of opourtunity to obtain it. Censoring can't stop a janitor on the inside, a careless scientist, or a motivated hacker. If just one copy escapes, then everyone who's interested can have at it.
Folks, these are your rights. And they're being taken from you one at a time.
Bell has had one of the Internet kiosks in the Bay Street bus terminal in Toronto for the last year or so. Maybe they were just beta testing it there. I never actually got a chance to use it because someone was ALWAYS on it.
It's a great idea really.. swipe your debit card, buy 30 minutes of Internet time while you wait for your bus. If only they'd add more of them.. and add time limits so everyone can play. =P
What's next? Finding ISP's legally resoponsible for the actions of their customers? Telecom companies for allowing people to transmit illegal packets across their lines? IT companies for building networks that people can pirate on? PC makers for manufacturing the equipment that facilitates piracy?
What the hell happened to the individual being responbile for their own actions. This is dirty, dirty business.
Does anyone know if you can still play X-Box games on a box that's been that heavily modified? That alone would almost make me want to add an X-Box to my console shelf. At $299 CAD, that's a CHEAP ass rig for running windows games.
I imagine that Direct X would have some issues with it, and that finding a driver for the X-Box video processor would be a bitch though.. =P
At any rate, I can't wait for the day when science and the unexplained truly cross paths. Humble pie futures will go through the roof due to people like you.
It will be as it always has, those who know no better will sheepishly play ball, and not utter so much as a cry while their rights are slowly taken away.
Sorry.. *cough*.. haha.. I just thought I heard someone use the words "Buffy" and "plot" in the same sentance.. followed by the word "interesting". Haha.. oh.. shit.
Slashdot - Security updates in broken english, or we'll double your karma back! ;)

Heh, well I'm glad at least you think I wasn't out to stir the shit up. I wonder if I'd still be a troll if I'd left the crack about Cyrix out.. ;)
I didn't say I liked or supported it, it's just the way it is.. (as far as I can see).

Remember Cyrix? (shudder)

I can't wait for Internet2!
I doubt that this will help at all.

OT, I know.. but I had to say it. ;)
The Xbox has been out for what, 2 or 3 years? The PSX (most sucessful console EVER) has been out for almost 10 years.
If I recall, the PSX has sold around 80 million units worldwide. That's more than the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube combined.

Erhm. 2.. Star Control 2.
I blame Saturday night alcahol induced typos.
Why, in MY day, Star Control 3 was 10 megs. And that was FULLY installed!
Whippersnappers.

Relax.. it's a quote from Gattaca.

The rest of us will find ways around it. =P
I highly doubt anyone in DoD used any form of P2P network at all. P2P is the soup kitchen of the warez scene.
I love anonymous tough guys.
