Yeah - they kind of stretched it. Neil Sedaka's song has:
Is this the way to Amarillo? Every night I’ve been hugging my pillow dreaming dreams of Amarillo and sweet Marie who waits for me. Show me the way to Amarillo I’ve been weepin’ like a willow crying over Amarillo and sweet Marie who waits for me.
I only saw the movie once and maybe I misremembered something. I figure someone on this board will know the answer (or invent one, this being/. afterall)
I thought Spock said he came out of the black hole into the new timeline 25 years after Nero did. If so, how did Nero get a hold of Spock's ship with the red matter? He clearly had it at the beginning of the movie since he already had decided to destroy Vulcan and have Spock there to watch, although he was looking for the old Spock and not the young one.
Anyone?
I'm in the same boat as AC. I have company options at ETrade and we don't permit the use of IE at my company (It's good to be the king). Everything I've needed to use has worked perfectly using Firefox and I can also access everything from Safari on my Mac at home. I'd have to say your problem was: a. your computer b. a lousy support person who didn't want to help with something they didn't know about.
To me, all those things you mention simply sound like new business opportunities.
"Consider the direct cost of moving all the world's coastal cities to higher ground."
For everyone having to spend a dollar to move there's someone else making a dollar. Encouraging spending is good for the economy.
"Consider what's going to happen when the world's current breadbaskets turn to deserts, and some of the present day's have-not countries find themselves sitting on the new best farmland."
When cars became popular, the guys making horseshoes found themselves becoming mechanics or going out of business. Change always brings troubles to those who refuse to change. Globalization is taking the low-level jobs and moving them to places that see them as high-level jobs. There are people who want to stop globalization because of the threat to their way of life and don't care that there are benefits to other people's way of life. Change is a given. It's all about opportunity.
"Yeah, nature doesn't care. But most of us kind of like our easy dinosaur-free lifestyle, and would like to pass it on to our children."
We don't have the world our parents had and they didn't have the world that their parents had. Heck, already our kids don't have the world we had. I think that's called adapting to your environment. Mankind's ability to do that has kept him at the top of the food chain for a long time.

In the books I actually enjoyed Tom. I wasn't disparaging him in any way. I was merely pointing out (as did many others) that Tom didn't appear in 'The Hobbit', making the OP's comment about Tom singing actually kind of stupid.
Oh, and I did not miss Tom from the movie - I don't think he would have transferred well to film.
Do the people who post these things know anything about the topic?
re: With or without Tom singing, is what I want to know
Tom Bombadil never appeared in the Hobbit - so why should he be singing in the movie version? I agree that Ian Holme may not be able to be the young Bilbo for this movie, but I'm sure they can come up with someone reasonable. Heck, look at the replacement for Dumbledore - ok, bad example. A lot of people I know hate the new version - not because of the look, but because his demeanor changed so differently. WIth Bilbo, you would need someone that kept the personality everyone was expecting.
And yes, Gandalf would still look pretty much the same as long as he ws made up as Gandalf the Gray and not the White. It's all prosthetics and makeup, anyway. Sheesh
re: Now, the ones that would buy MSOffice were it available on Linux are, I conjecture, mostly in the camp of those using Crossover Office - i.e., ALREADY paying for an MSOffice license
I don't believe that to be the case. While crossover office is a fine product, the latest version only provides bronze support for Office 2003. What this means is that you can't get all of the functionality. I've experienced plenty of flakiness with Office XP (Silver support) that for me as an IT guy I can deal with. I would not expect my users to like it very much. So, Office support is a major reason we are still on Windows and will remain so.
My wife and I went to go see it in the spring and enjoyed it very much. Of course, we are both big LotR fans and know the story well. A large portion of the audience were seniors who get the tickets as part of their yearly subscription. Some walked out - there's know way you could follow the story without already knowing it ahead of time.
As a show for fans of the stories, I'd recommend it. For people who just love good theatre - this probably isn't it. Everything you'd like in a show - character development, a clear story line, etc. just aren't there.
I think it comes down to the location of their markets. Anheuser Busch has won its lawsuits in most countries, forcing Budvar to be called things like Czeckvar and avoid using the name Budweis in advertising.
As to ABC - how much do their markets overlap? I know I have no chance of receiving Austrailian Broadcasting Company transmissions here in Massachusetts. (Well, maybe on satellite - I'm a cable customer).
It may be a case of Apple simply not being impressed with the 3rd party products currently offered. If quality accessories will help sell your product, and the after market isn't releasing high enough quality, Apple may well want to 'show them how it is done'. Basically Apple spends its marketing and development dollars to prove that a quality accessory can make money and that should encourage the after market companies to improve their wares.
Or maybe Steve is really on one of his kicks to control everything. What do I know?

I also wonder why the second beast was bright red. Seems odd for a planet encased in ice and snow.
Clearly this is a troll.
:-P
Who the heck talks about hockey??
Yes, the one wearing the trousers is the one with 90+% marketshare on the desktop. Who else did you expect?
Truly I wish I had mod points today.
Thanks for the chuckle

They are departing these shores forever. They are traveling to the Grey Havens, never to be seen in Middle Earth again.
Oh, bees.
nevermind.

Fall 2007 is the target according to the website

At least we in the U.S. are safe.

DOE? You mean they become as useful as the Department of Education?
Well, this is at least correctly targeted towards the /. crowd, most of whom only brush once every 5 years (whether they need it or not)
So, you mean it isn't a matter of how he grips it?
