Youtube works on the iPad. So does any site that has user agent detection to serve up HTML 5 objects instead of flash. I for one am glad that it's pushing web developers to convert their sites to following open standards instead of relying on plugins.
"if newspapers wanted to hit the online content industry hard right now, they would be running non-stop information about how to obtain and use Ad Block Plus"
This is a bit of a mis-statement. Most of the larger newspapers have a significant interest in making money through online advertising. I happen to work for a large media company with a history in print. There has been a shift in upper management, they realize that they now make more money online than they do in print and that's where the future is headed. Print publications can either learn how to adjust to this and realize they can intelligently monetize their brand online or they can fail and go out of business. As long as they have a strong brand identity with valuable content they can survive if they adapt their revenue streams appropriately.
I wasn't really interesting in banking but I really tried to push for donation when our child was born last October. Turns out you have to pay even to donate and it's quite costly because of the way the collection and transportation is handled. If they really want people to donate they should make it free.
Hussein is a pretty common name and you are assuming that all Republicans are biased against anyone with a "foreign" sounding name. This is just more unsubstantiated fear-mongering. I know many Republicans that are going to vote for Obama over someone who probably has mental issues from being tortured by the Vietnamese.
Obama has the support, people want to see him win. He's been able to motivate people to vote in the primaries that would have usually stayed at home in past elections.
I think this drawn out nomination process has made the job easier for McCain. Hillary has already done all the grunt work for him. But I have doubts the general public is going to vote for someone who would be the oldest president elected to office when they are crying out for change.
You also have to take into consideration what technology your job allows you to use. Sure, I'd love to spin out some RoR apps but when you work for a large corporation they aren't quick to adapt new technology.
There are a lot of companies out there that still use Perl to handle backend processing for their websites because it's what's available to them and there are plenty of resources that can work on the codebase. There are faster, more efficient languages out there but sometimes they aren't an option.
It isn't the DRM free music that's causing loss of revenue, it's the fact that the cost to distribute pirated music is next to zero now. Before you had to dub a copy to tape or burn a CD, these all cost a little bit of money. Now you can share music to your hearts content downloading pirated music at next to no cost. If there was an associated cost to downloading these audio files on the consumer end it would be less convenient. The consumer wants convenience. Right now it's just more convenient to look for an album torrent than to pay $1 a track to get it off iTunes.
That must mean in the future every band is like Kiss. Rockin and rollin all night.
Then again music talent isn't necessary right now, look at the lip syncers at the MTV video awards.
And how does this logic apply to music that isn't restricted to a typical live band formula? There are a lot of electronic acts out there that I enjoy listening to but are boring as hell to watch live.
AIM won't go away. One upside to the AOL/Time Warner merger was TW was forced to use AOL's network infrastructure for all their divisions. The streaming video on CNN and Time.com all come from the "AOL" side of the company. Even if the dialup public face of AOL goes away these services will still be around.
Flash is also a processor hog. You ever run flash apps on a laptop? Eats through your battery life rather quickly.

I'd rather see Flash die. One less attack vector for malware.

In Korea, Google is for old people!

People still use Netware?
Sounds like a shakedown from Fox. WB will pay them because Watchmen is going to make bank.
Looks like it's time to develop Glitter Boys.
So you'd rather have McCain win and be in Iraq for the next 50 years?
Read the articles over again. GTX 280 blows away the 9800 series in performance.
Maybe if they were a dollar but five? Not worth it.

Atari Founder Proclaims the End of Gaming Piracy
I hope he at least had a "Mission Accomplished!" banner behind him.
The law is the law, you can't justify a crime because it felt alright to you.

Or you could just buy the optional airline adapter that lets you plug right into your seat on the plane.
Why buy that one when you can get the SkyTag!

And then we'll start watering our crops with sports drinks.
I guess I'll trademark OMGWTFBBQ
Who still plays warcraft 3?
