  11. Much more story behind this than most of you know on Warner Bros. plans 'Superman vs. Batman' Movie · · Score: 1

The Superman VS. Batman Story is from the Dark Knight Returns series of graphic Novels by Frank Miller. Along with having a (new)female robin, (The old Robin [Dick Grayson I beleave] moved on to become NightWing(?) hehe, this is going way back)... Superman gets a serious beating from Batman.. In the end when Batman and Superman do go at it, Batman gets the help of the (at that time one-armed) Green Arrow(??) which uses a special green(?whichever one makes him mortal?) kryptonite Powdered tip to weaken Superman. Then Batman gets all kung-fu samuari on him and ends up beating Superman Bloody.. A beautiful moment in comics.. I personally always liked the big B (frank miller style) more than Stuperman ;). ah, the good ol' days...

  12. try using mozilla to sign up for passport on MS Passport and... Visa · · Score: 1

M$ requires a "modern" browser like I.E. 4.0 (lol)or greater to sign up for a passport account. If you try to sign up for a hotmail account using konquerer or mozilla you are denied (funny that Mozilla 1.0 being released in the last few months isn't a modern browser.. By that math I.E. 4.0 was released last month??? Of course us Linux users can use Netscape, but how many of us accually do? I personally use mozilla. I laugh at the very idea of allowing M$ to "safeguard" my credit card. Working in IT I see the "secure" passwords my users have. It is going to be incredibly easy for some "bad" people to get the CC #s of a few million people if passport accually flys. Of course with a few Billion dollars behind you, you can cover just about anything up.. Even the theft of a few million credit cards...

  14. IBM T20 + Redhat = kick ass on IBM Dropping Laptop Linux Support · · Score: 1

I have been using an IBM T20 laptop at work for 6 months and it is by far the best out of all of the laptops we have. Better than the New Dells, better than the Tecra8100. Everything from the keyboard/mouse(?) layout to the sturdiness of the display. I would even bet money that the IBM T20 could be dropped more times than any of the others we have here without breaking (Maybe when I get laid off the theory can be tested ;) After upgrading to RedHat 7.2 on the Laptop (from Win2k) My productivity has increased (from the fact that multiple desktop views allow multiple simultainious VMs, rdesktop sessions, and vnc windows, Staroffice, Licq, Mozilla, and wireless LAN). I would recommend RedHat 7.2 on a T20 to anyone looking for a solid Linux laptop solution. It is very sad that IBM has choosen to drop all of this.. But have no fear, the community will make it work, and work it will.:)

  19. I was an IT undergrad... on Perception of Linux Among IT Undergrads · · Score: 1, Interesting

The reason for the fact that Microsoft is considered better among the IT Undergrad is the simple fact that they wern't taught anything else. I finished my Undergrad IT degree in May and I feel really sorry for 95% of the people who finished with me. The eduacation simply went like this: semester one... This is a network cable, this is DOS, this is a hard drive... semester two... This is how you make a network cable this is how you use DOS this is how you install a hard drive... semester three.. This is Windows 3.11 This is how it connects to a network. This is BASIC. semester four... Here is WIndows 95/98 they work on a network. semester four... tHis is it! What you've been waiting for the Ultimate! Windows NT 4.0.. this is how you connect your windows clients to NT... CONGRATULATIONS! You now have an IT Degree! This was pretty much the quality of education the others in my class got. This (un)quality of education was largely in part to the fact that there was no one to teach anything else (the school couldn't afford to pay someone $90,000/yr which is what people were making at the time) to teach a real computer course. I luckily took it upon myself to learn Linux and UNIX during my time in college (as well as smoke a bunch of weed, find a few girls, and learn to play counter-strike) along with a couple extra semesters of random classes I was able to learn enough to get over the UNIX learning curve and am now quite successful... I feel though that the others in my class are not fairing as well in this economy...
