I always worried WHAT IF seti isn't calculating what we think it is. What if it's some conspiracy project to calculate some other type of numbers not relating to extraterestrial but for big brother or microsoft etc.
I don't know about you. But I have met plenty of smart women who are more than capable of working in engineering. They always somehow end up stearing toward businesses, project management or HR.
It's mind boggling seeing so many super qualified women just say yes at the first site of a business/HR position offer. Some even take pay cuts? There is no explanation for this.
Empire Earth kicked so much ass. It was the biggest surprise for me when I bought that game. If the AI wasn't so whacked, the game would be a mega hit. Nothing like having cavemans fight robots with laser guns.
I'd have to say as much as I want one console to completely beat out all competitors to make consumer decision easy... competition does keep prices low.
With 3 consoles in the market the games are cheap. With 2 consoles left, you might see games hover alot longer at $40. With 1 console left, you're done. Back to the 80s NES days where megaman costs $50 for years and years.
I have seen plenty of smart people come out of smart colleges and university. Somehow when they work, they are just lousy.
On the other hand I know plenty of highschool dropouts with certs. They tend to not have as good a work ethic, but they seem to be more knowledgeable.
Best combination are college grads with a degree with certs. Though even I have to admit, someone spending 2 years is equally as good as someone spending 4 years at any school nowadays.
I have heard people say this hollywood budget movie is huge, let's go see it. I have never heard people say EA spent a cazillion $$ on this game, let's go see it. It's sad that every industry is setting the quality of its product by how much freaking money they pump in to make it.
If you want to add value to a product you can't sell it for $20 like this. You need a special edition with incredibly good reviews and charge an arm and a leg. Redhat AS almost did it right, except it lost a community and a half when their management can't figure to be a pal or be a foe for Fedora.
If I can get the updated roster of 2004-2005 this year at $19.99, there ain't no way in hell I am buying Madden football.
Last year when I rented Sega's football it was just slighty off because it didn't retain statistics as good as madden. That will all change now, especially since the gameplay was always on par.
I give him a ton of credit, but to say he's the father of video game is like saying Thomas Edison is the father of video game cause he invented the light bulb.
The gaming industry fears taking any type of chance. Every damn game is surrounded by a cazillion dollar budget. For every product that fails to do decent the company sinks to hell. So every damn game is either a clone of a successful one or a sequel to a previous generation game.
People who bitch about manhunt, I thought that actually seem original enough to buy. The industry has no room for anything but sports games now.
My former roomate found a harddrive with FAT32 formatting left in the hallway.
When he found a huge amount of child porn on it, he was saying wtf. When he logged in via some guest account to find the professor's login... that was a whole different story.
Where is SCSI devices nowadays. That was the greatest internal/external interface you can get. How it's just obsolete. There is a whole 2 brands of SCSI DVDs, all of which remain at $100+ since there is just no competition. Has anyone tried the SCSI-to-IDE converters?
Ok, using Voodoo2 term comparing SLI with dual ATI or Nvidia cards is just not fair. Things were simple then. Today the graphics drivers are far more complicated.
Murphy's law here.... too many things can go wrong SLI-ing ATI and Nvidia cards, more than any forums can handle I am sure. Christ, the PC gaming industry has already shot itself in the foot with years of driver problems.
Hope you realize the windows code took 20 years in the making. Mac port will certainly take another 20.

Years from now your computer will make you use retina scan. Without that you can't login and your pet robot will beat the shit out of you.
Those who think U.S. is becoming more free is absolutely on crack. We are prisoners to our own PC, spyware, viruses, martha steward pajamas.

THat's where Phantom comes in. The super console that plays everything and anything. Oh wait, they'd been under engineering for 10 years.
I guess yeah, both Nintendo and Sega are done.
Can some suse expert here post the exact easy step by step to get the professional ISO for a suse noob like me?
I have installed many of the other linuxes no sweat, but suse has failed for me everytime. Those ftp installs are absolutely brutal.

Commodore's back. Apple's back. Amiga's next.
Microsoft will probably eat them all up again by 2010 just cause they want to. History repeats itself.
While everyone looks at the dimension, number of games, size, screen resolution.... the only number that really matters is PRICE.
Will Sony screw themselves with a whooping $300+ handheld. If DC is $150 then PSP will technically have to be twice as good to win.
The thing I see in every other anime for years that Japanese loves and Americans like me hate....
1.) When characters cry, a giant stream of tears fly out.
2.) Ridiculous facial expression change when they blush or say wow or say yay.
3.) Animes that are part comics, action, drama, tragedy is too common.
4.) Episodes are a waste of time. Half the animes can be compressed into outstanding 2 hr movies, look at Battle Angel & Ninja Scroll.
5.) Random peace signs MUST go. Anime characters absolutely abuse it.
6.) Still frames. Artist gets lazy and you hear conversations, but you are staring at still frames.
7.) Overuse of robotics and cards.
8.) Ridiculous physics.
Unfortunately there is no such thing as no single point of failure with technology.
Even the best clusters have problems failing over and back sometimes.
I want to say I feel bad that he won't be collecting the billions to come. But then he already made millions.
Ten years from now people will laugh at your 3.0GHz PC. Oh wait, you don't even have to wait that long now.
I know so many techies who are just plain sick of new formats every year. Remember the days when IDE/SCSI was all you needed.
USB1.0
USB2.0
Firewall
Serial ATA
Holyshit, at this rate I will have 1 new input per year. Why can't we wait a couple years and all agree on 1 super format.
Best RPG of all time is still Phantasy Star 2 for Sega Genesis. Though I don't know if that classifies itself as strategy RPG.
