  1. From an Israeli on World's First 1GB Web Mail May Not Be From Google · · Score: 1

when every Israeli Prime Minister says the goal is to have Israel be a jewish only

Yeah, that would be atrocious if any prime minister ever said that. No prome minister of Israel ever said the goal of Israel is to be "jewish only." In factt, israel has given Arabs, including Muslim Arabs, Christian Arabs, and non-religious Arabs, numerous rights including citizenship and the right to vote. Yemenites have an extremely good relationship with the Israeli government and are crucial in their military intelligence

Israel is a state built on cooperation. The problem is there are extremists on both sides that dont want to cooperate. My grandfather and grandmother fought for the independence of Israel (after fleeing from Nazi Europe). My father fought in the six day war, the yom kippur war, and the war of attrition. Despite this, we are by no means patriotic or die hard Israel. We hate the current Israeli government jsut as much as many college liberals. The problem is, Israel is a coalition government where the extremists can either make or break a government. The real war in Israel is between religious jews (who make up less than 5%) and secular jews (who make up the rest). Secular jews are, generally, pro-peace and, inherently, anti-strong religious dogma. Its the religious taht refuse to compromise.

Its not like America where there is a reform, traditional class. Still, though, Israel does not aim to cleanse itself of all Arabs as Hitler did with Jews. Israel has given Arabs better rights than most ARAB coutnries, including Jordan (read: Black September when PLO tried to execute a coup on King Hussein), Syria (who just sends them all to lebanon or to fight israel, mainly cause they dont want refugees in Syria), Egypt (Nassir oppressed palestinians more than any israeli prime minister ever did), etc.

This does not jsutify the ongoing war. Like I said, most secular jews want peace in some form or another. Its the damn extremists (but then again, it always is). I think that winning the six day war was teh worst thing that ever happened to Israel, since its the root of most of the problems today. Its what turned Israel from defender to occupier.

That's basically all your post says --Theres a difference in electronegativity-- In so many words. However, the bonding characteristics are much different. H2O exhibits sp3 hybridization, meaning the orbitals OVERLAP each other. The electron is not transferred from one molecule to another. THe orbitals merely overlap.

King Hussein massacred palestinian refugees by the millions (Look up: "black september"). he prompted a palestinian uprising in Jordan because he treated them so poorly. Palestinians in Jordan are anything BUT first class citizens. Syria is the same way: send them all to lebanon and give them weapons to make them happy enough.

Israel treats palestinians as well as any arab country does. Noone wants palestinian refugees. But, unlike jordan, Israel can't just massacre them all and kick them all out because of international pressure. Pretty much any Japanese electronic musical instrument maker has used TRON. Yamaha keyboards run it, or derivatives of it, I've been told. That will change now though, with Yamaha's recent announcement that they'll be using Linux.

I've followed TRON since I was a kid hacker in the early 80's, and have watched its use in the industry with eager anticipation of the day it becomes more widely known about in the tech sector.

When Linux came into existence (I've been a Linux user since *day one* of its existence), I decided I need not stay current with TRON, which is a shame because I think a lot of the goals of TRON (E-TRON, actually, its supposed to be called) are achievable right now with Linux in the embedded world.

If ever there was proof needed of just how destructive Microsoft has been for the computer industry, it is the fact that hardly anyone in the Western Tech sector (sillicon valley) knows about TRON and what this project was supposed to achieve... and, actually, still is capable of achieving... The project is based around shared source, completely open amongst competing hardware manufacturers.

Embedded kernels running in every electronic device known to man, capable of talking to each other discretely and without human interaction, to create a sort of 'Boewulf cluster' of embedded systems capable of sharing loads and processing power.

TRON was a kick ass project. And everything we've wanted to do with TRON, we can now do with Linux.

just to clarify my post, I was not in any way trying to comment on the article and or ruling itself. I was just pointing out how unjustified michaels rant was. He called the CNN story "propagandistic" (?) because it dealt with voluntary recital. The court case is also dealing with only voluntary recital. Voluntary (do i need to bold it again) recital in public schools is a BIG ISSUE, hence the reason CNN reported on this court case. My comment was directed to why michael went off on a tangent about mandatory recital, which is not at all related to either the case or the article, and why he ranted about the article itself being biased and propagandistic. If the ruling was about mandatory recital, and the article only covered voluntary recital, I could see his rant being justified. But, the ruling is about voluntary recital, and thats what the article talked about. Michael was out of line.

No state has a law prohibiting anyone from reciting the pledge voluntarily, whenever they want to.

Uhmm, except that a simple google search on "voluntary school prayer" immediately showed a third result of This case. From the article:

A 22 word prayer, crafted by the New York State Board of Regents, was read aloud daily in public school classrooms. Student participation was voluntary. On June 25, 1962, the Court ruled the Regents' prayer unconstitutional.

In a public school, I cannot lead a group prayer, even voluntarily. Prayer must be seperate from the school. Then, following the page a whole three links down, there is full text of a bill urging congress to pass a "voluntary prayer" ammendment to the constitution. From the house resolution:

32 WHEREAS, voluntary student prayer formed a part of American public schools [33] from their origination in 1642 for over three hundred years afterward, until [34] the U. S. Supreme Court, in a 1962 ruling, which the court said was "without [35] precedent," struck down what it described as "voluntary, nondenominational [36] school prayer";[]=line numbers

Despite what the all-knowing michael says, evidently after 0 minutes of research, there ARE LAWS AGAINST VOLUNTARY PRAYER. Of course, he says "no state," and since it was ruled unconstitutional, it would actual be the federal government prohibiting it. Yeah, thats what you must have meant, right michael? "no state has a rule against it, just the federal government." sure... how about doing some research before embarassing youreself. Oh, and you ended your sentence with a preposition.
