How can Gateway compete against Lenovo? Gateway cannot. IBM could not and sold its PC division to Lenovo.
They're a gonner... though it would be interesting to see one of these failing legacy manufacturers attempt a line of high quality workstation & notebooks. Something along the lines of American Megatrends, which still survives due to the niche' high reliability market needed for things like motherboards for industrial equipment. Currently, I can't find any manufacturer to match the quality of my old IBM 600E Thinkpad and I'd gladly pay for the quality if offered.
You're wasting your breath. There are a lot of NASCAR dads and soccer moms out in McMansionville, USA who welcome such overreach (you know for the sake of the children)... this is why the current crop of bastards are in power after all. Nothing is going to change as long as the suburbanites can feed their SUVs and can continue to borrow against their rising home equity to buy toys from China.
Real estate remains a very good way to make money in general.
I'm still not following that statement from the 34yr old. Is he talking about buying real estate as an investor or just a place to live and betting on appreciation? As an investor there are easier ways to play the RE market through equities rather than owning physical property.
A 22 year old with a handle on debt will be more mature than a 34 year old that is a renter in suburbia that is adamant that you can't make money in real estate.
There are many instances where it makes more financial sense to rent than to "own."
Betta's are extremely hardy fish. I've seen some live for years in less than a quart of water, so your 4 gallons is a bit high.
... I didn't say anything about their survival, they're sold in tiny cups afterall. What I said is it would be cruel to keep a Betta in such a small space.
I've been meaning to put a fish in there for a while now.
I'm assuming this is a joke, but juuuuussssssstttttt in case it would be a bit cruel to stuff even a Betta into anything less than 4 gallons. And a goldfish should not be put into any tank smaller than 10 gallons with an extra gallon for each additional fish. I can't stand the attitude of fish being disposable pets.
Even if you say the new project starts now, that's still 12 years. How frustrating.
I got news for you, it's not gonna happen... not with an 8 trillion (and growing) debt, not with the pending baby boomer retirement and especially not with the US mired in a perpetual war. We'll be lucky to see the JWT launched before things go to shit.
In America, rural zoning tends to be much more isolationist - suburbs are islands to themselves - without a store in sight. It's quite depressing actually.
... and also quite dangerous. The entire economy and even basic survival hinges on those service station pumps never running dry. I don't see how the US could survive another 70s style oil embargo given the incredible suburban expansion of the last 25 years.

it would be the perfect way to determine if a prospective hire is a team player or a lone wolf
Employer: "... by the way do you play MMORPGs?"
Me: "Why yes I do"
Employer: "HELP SECURITY!!!"

I thought Siemens purchased Westinghouse Power Unit back in the late 90's.
Of course, if the prices rise quickly on such an essential commodity, things might change relatively fast.
Yeah, like the ability to afford food since most population is hundreds of miles away from the farm belt and has to have their food trucked in.
Well obviously this can only mean that Godzilla has been using iPv6 and the Japanese gov't tapped into his communications.

Must've sustained the injury during his move from Arizona to Babylonia
... but what if my hobby is annoying microsoft?

if two slashdotters marry and produce offspring, the result would be dangerous to society!
Such an event would probably cause a rift in space time, either that or result in really ugly kids.
They just needed a catchier title
What sane company in this day and age is moving such a small amount of data around on tapes?
Maybe a company where the health information system is based on a legacy mainframe and where tape is the "high capacity" input/storage.
Furthermore the entire database could be sent over a T1
... which would be a violation of HIPAA if over the internet.
But in an effort to stop the cloning of the OS, developers will still have to pay an unspecified amount for the code.
One Cajillion Dollars
Damn thing ain't working!
Well I'm sure all seven users will be relieved!
All I want to know is if the new format is Lynx compatible ... because if it isn't there'll be hell to pay!
eBay doesn't even operate in my country
Do you live in Petoria?
Is there 11 channels of porn?
Haven't you ever seen Spinal Tap? 11 is just better than 10
In the US we call them "State Troopers"
