I've been wanting to go see a shuttle launch for a while. This one's on a weekend, which makes it possible. However it's a twelve hour drive, and I don't want to drive for 24 hours round trip if it gets called off again.
Of course you can already do that. The music Ipod itself isn't anything you couldn't already do - it didn't become wildly popular for its capabilities, but for its interface, size, sex appeal, iTunes, etc.
So the media has a liberal bias because it is more liberal than the average member of Congress. Does anyone else see the problem with this basis for comparison?
I've heard this so often. "That part of the law is hardly ever used, why do you care so much?" (of course, if you don't need that part of the law then why have it?) Then, after a few years, they start using it. Then the pitch becomes, "But that's been part of the law for years now and has never been a problem. Why do you care now?"
Interesting. Does this mean if you've just had five shots immediately before taking the breathalyzer, you will test negative (since there hasn't been enough time to metabolize the alcohol?)
Until we have found a way of supplying all this wonderful energy you want, the best idea is to try to live with what we have now and in the forseeable future, instead of what you want to happen which may not be feasible.
We do need to find new, safe, and more plentiful ways to produce as much energy as possible. However, we shouldn't be living as if these breakthroughs have already been discovered, because they just might not exist.
The Terraserver picture is from 1988. I always figured the blurring and coloring over is meant to hide some kind of antiaircraft guns or other military machinery put in place after 9/11

I looked up my house on Terraserver, it is not color and not as closely zoomed in as Google Maps. The image was also from 1991, I'm not sure when Google's pictures are from, but I know they are newer by the buildings around. Also, Google Maps makes it easier to scroll around by click and drag than clicking up, left, up, over and over.
Now I've always wondered why, if the escape velocity means the velocity you need to attain (with no additional force accelerating you away) to escape a gravitational force, why can't you have a constantly applied force, like a rocket, constantly applying a force away from the black hole, letting you escape it at less than its escape velocity?
The "Cola" in Coca-Cola was named after the kola nut flavoring. Pepsi-Cola never had any real kola nut flavoring, but adopted the same name I guess since they tasted similar. I'm not sure of the legalities, though.
I know they have those "paperback international editions" of textbooks, but in the US, you'd be hard pressed to find a major textbook for less than $100. And this laptop could contain several books.

The last thing anyone wants is another stupid "scandal" that doesn't matter for anything.

Even if they didn't, they have increased their market share and (hopefully) attracted some satisfied customers who could buy more ATI cards later on.
What better way to encourage more spyware companies to start than to buy them?
is it does not seem to correspond to Google's market and stated goal of "organizing the world's information."

How can you make an accident illegal ?
You mean like how manslaughter is illegal?

We sure can't let the terrorists beat us to the Moon!

They are suggesting putting a digitized image of the passport holder's face in the signal, so I'm guessing the person scanning could compare faces.

but they seem very concerned. Why?

No one, not anyone, ever compares the signature on the card to the signature on the receipt. Never. A PIN number would be worlds more effective.
To the contrary, I'd say that any show that could survive on donations from fans is the most worth keeping.

"Dave's got kids. They sure are neat. Register Snood so they can eat."
Their definition of "violent themes" likely includes plumbers jumping on the heads of turtles.
but I'm far to paranoid to describe my security methods in public like this.
