When will there be a player that supports all these music services. The iPod supports iTunes, theres a napster player that supports napster, I'm not even sure about the WMA's. I think iTunes will remain the dominant store just on virtue of iPod sales alone.
Well the OS Design isn't that truly innovative, and I think they would try not to look at the source code to avoid any legal troubles. Linux has done an amazing job of managing the massive amount of code, and patches that is submitted daily, and managing a project of that scale.
Not quite, Dell uses the Hitachi 1.8" Drives vs the Toshiba ones and it managed to make their player 100-150$ cheaper then the iPod.
I love my iPod dont get me wrong, but its not made exclusively by toshiba, and thats not why its so expensive.
I think the reason they are not defending the second is that it is the one that is vastly open to interpertation. Free speech, means free speech. The second could be interperted to mean arms for a militia.
*Cough* put down the crack pipe boy. The order to execute Bin Laden was actually brought up in the Bush administration. In fact Sept 8th there was a meeting about it. Clinton is to blame for 9/11? I mean I know Bush isnt but give me a bloody break. Talk to an counter terrorism expert, Clinton did more then any other president to tackle the issue, not to mention the fact that he took a far more hands on approach to the Israeli - Palestinian crisis. Bush paid almost no attention to terrorism in the first 8 months of his administration, but blaming the damn thing on either Clinton or Bush is beyond ridiculous.
Ermmm... every company does the same thing, I believe it's because of OEM Licensing, you only get a restore CD not a full on install of windows. Dell doesn't, or at least didn't 6 months ago, do it on their latitudes, but even that is a model specific CD.
The inherent issue is off course poweruse. The way the iPod gets its good battery life is by barely ever spinning up the drive. It buffers 32MB and spins down, then when it gets low on buffer it spins up again... With a PDA it is slightly tougher to do that.
With all due respect, under shoplifting laws in at least the State of California, they actually have to see you stealing it from their store(video camera or not). Those beepy door things mean nothing.
After having worked at Best Buy, and seen the amount of returns on these things from overheating, I say run like the plague. I got myself a VPR Matrix though, their lower end line, that doesn't have heating problems, 3 months ago I got a 1.8ghz P4-M, 512mb DDR Pc 2100, built in wireless, killer 15" LCD(The laptop is a rebadged Samsung) and only 5.8lbs in weight, not to mention 999$ in price. The 175 looks intriguing too, its even lighter, but with a 14" screen. So avoid the widescreen laptops, they are junk, go for the lower end, that's good.
Oh yes, clearly it's Americas fault. I mean after all spending billions on a palace in the shape of his thumbprint (Listen to the Saddam interview) is in the interests of his people.

Microsoft isn't stupid, Linux is a great study in OS Development, and they are using it to their advantage.

If it used AA or AAA, it would be far too big, heck I haven't seen a recent HD based player that uses them.
Well the nice thing about Windows XP in my experience, is generally it sees the camera, and pops up a download pictures dialogue. Very simple.
Yes, but what you have to remember is Animation is no longer a kids only medium. Look at the success of The Simpsons? Family Guy? Futurama?
Yes, but it looks like he also did Event Horizon, which IMHO was a really good movie.
It uses a 1.8" Hitachi drive, Apple uses a 1.8" Toshiba drive... There are lots of players out there now that use 1.8" Drives.
Well if you have a windows PC, Rhapsody gets you unlimited listens for 9.99$ a month.

With all due respect, the store probably buys these CD's at 9 or 10 dollars. I mean who would sell CD's if they only made 50 cents a piece?

Remember you are formatting to a handheld screen, from my experience with pocketpc a 2 hour movie fits onto a 256mb SD card.

Baby Diapers?
Possibly in a creek near you?
Just playing off a hunch

Kidneys as forms of payment? :-/
Seriously how long before this technology becomes affordable?

The dells do it without a hitch, now mind you, you have to be careful not to pull out the IDE cables while its running but besides that.
You do see some manufacturers that do put an effort into it. Sony's metal cased notebooks look very nice, as well as all the vpr matrix's.
Actually its far more like installing windows 98 on the p166. Which runs fine btw :)
As much as I hate saying this, Best Buy has that exact warranty nationwide, people just dont take them up on it.
