What would encrypted disks solve? This seizure happened at a hosting company.. Which leads me to presume that the party under investigation had material on a website. If that material is on a website, then it must be served in decrypted form.
Which means that either someone at the hosting company would have to have the key to decrypt the drive (so each time the machine was rebooted the html drive could be decrypted), or the key would have to be stored on the machine itself. Either way isn't very secure...
Form factor? The form factor is the same as DVD (5cm disc). Sure, the early gen writers will be cartridge based, but the same was true for DVD-RAM. The consumer Blu-Ray discs will not be cartridge based.
Pfft... I'll take a Mormon coming to my door over a Jehovah's Witness any day. Every Mormon that has come to visit me has been very pleasant and polite, and they have no problem taking "No" for an answer....
Just politely tell them you aren't interested and they will politely leave. Mormon missionaries are not pushy.
I've practically had to call the cops to get rid of JW's.
That doesn't even make sense. Perhaps if you said "If IBM was really committed to PowerPC", your argument might have been interesting (but still unrealistic), but since x86 runs Linux wonderfully, I don't see what the lack of a PPC Thinkpad says about their commitment to Linux.
I don't really see why this is modded as "Insightful", being the first entry in the Google weblog (the entry quoted in the/. article) states:
Oh well, it's not like we own a recently relaunched service where you can create a blog in two minutes or something. Okay, we do. (Sorry for the plug.) [...]
I found that when using Expose with CTVD, I was annoyed that when I invoked Expose it only showed me the windows on the current desktop. It would have been really cool (IMHO) if I could have used Expose as the Workspace switcher.
I have always been a Pager/Workspace fan, but a few months ago, after the release of Panther, I decided that I would give Expose a real fair shot as a replacement for the Pager. I uninstalled Codetek VirtualDesktop and forced myself to use Expose for two weeks, and at the end of that time I was going to "declare a victor".
After about a week of Expose, however, I decided that it was terribly better than the Pager solution and decided to never go back... Now I just wish I had some Expose equivalent on the other platforms I use...
In the original film "Star Wars" (nowadays referred to as "Star Wars: A New Hope: Episode 4: The Magical Beginning of an Epic Space Quest thru Time"), there was a sequence in which Han Solo and a character named Greedo are having a discussion, in the Mos Eisley Cantina, regarding Solo's debt to Jabba the Hutt. At the end of this conversation shots are fired.
In the original version of the film, Han Solo shoots Greedo, but in the 1997 "Special Edition" re-release Lucas changed it so that Greedo shot first and Solo is simply defending himself.
How hard is it to run a spell checker before posting a story.. It is one thing for quoted material inside a posting to have misspelling, but the headline? That's just sad.
Not everyone has an unobstructed view of southern sky, hence the bit about needing to cut down trees.
My aunt and uncle live in a very wooded part of Upstate NY, and the only reason they have a view of the southern sky (and therefore DirectTV) is because a tornado came through their back yard and cut a swath of trees out a few years ago. This swath of trees just-so-happened to be in a perfect position. If that didn't happen they would have had to cut the trees down themselves.
She's the one that wrote the paper cited in this article.
Did you actually read the text that came directly after what you quoted? Here it is again, since you apparently didn't:
The person you so sarcastically ridicule makes exactly your point. Dumbass.
Brad becomes SixApart's Chief Architect.

Um, yeah, how's about that... :)
What if I told you I used to work for NASA?

Being that the iMac can run Linux, I believe the iMac itself is a linux-y iMac.

He/she may smoke crack, but they are also correct. The Radio Version came before the book.
What you saw a few years ago was a BBC TV miniseries. It had a budget of approximately 3 dollars (US).
The new film is a hollywood production.

Psst. It's fiction.
If you do, you could use it to build a videophone, so you could call your grandmother on the other coast.
Ummm, why do we need special laws for this. Wouldn't the existing anti-genocide laws apply?
There is no reason to create new laws when existing ones apply.

You can play uncompressed AIFF files on your iPod, and it's a pretty easy, lossless conversion between WAV and AIFF.
That's a good thing, it keeps the frat boys away from the nerds.

Didn't do you any good, CSH is shithammered anyway.
:P :)
Thanks, ben, it's not like I needed to check my mail or anything...

Many people refer to television's refresh rate as 30 frames per second, but the truth is that the refresh rate is 29.97 frames per second.
