Or: if you're a gamer, own a console. While we aren't quite at the point where all games are "better" and "first" on the console, that day seems to be growing closer. Game stores are stocking fewer and fewer PC games, and signs point to stores like Game Stop eliminating them completely.

As has been stated a gojillion times here already:

TiVo releases their kernel mods, but they have tons of userland apps that provide all the functionality that makes a Tivo what it is.

These images that were asked to be taken down were not simply kernel images, but images of the entire Tivo disk.

  4. Re:Use the virtual desktop on Expose Metacity With Expocity · · Score: 1

I use both Virtual Desktops and Expose under OSX. I organize my windows by desktop, but then if I have, say, multiple browser windows open in a particular desktop, Expose makes it easy to see which one contains the data I am looking for.

Expose has several viewing modes (All Windows, Current Application's Windows, Desktop), and I am not sure if Expocity has this yet (but i'm sure it will if it doesn't).

Another nice use for Expose is moving windows out of the way fast to facilitate drag and drop. If one window is covering another and I need to drag something into the bottom window, I select the drag source, invoke expose, select the target window, and drop.

All four movies, original cuts and extended cuts, each on a separate DVD, plus a bonus disc-- 9 DVD box set for a retail of $99.95

Not quite, but almost. In the Alien Quadrilogy there are 4 movie discs and 5 extra discs (one for each film and the "bonus disc" you referred to).

Both cuts of each film (theatrical and extended) are contained on the same disc and it uses DVDs "Seamless Branching" functionality to show the right scenes depending on which version you chose to watch. This is both cool and efficient as there is little duplication of data (since the extended versions aren't really that much different from the theatrical versions)

  6. Re:Ha! on Telemarketers to Target Cell Phones · · Score: 1

But telemarketers who dial themselves and don't use prerecorded voices can call cell-phones as much as they like (assuming the number they are calling is not on the Do Not Call list).

I would expect the industry to move away from auto-dialers and just have the operators prompted as to what number to manually dial.

Are you sure? I suspect that the two articles arrived on the same date, the mp3newswire article is just using the DD/MM/YYYY date format.
