  1. Danger on Woz's New Startup · · Score: 1

I wonder how this new wireless startup will interact/affect with his role at Danger, Inc. as a member of the board. Will WoZ work with Danger, compete with them, or be completely unrelated?

Just because it is expandable doesn't make it much more than a PDA. Sure the VisorPhone springboard was a neat hack, as a former owner of one, I can tell you that it was really lousy to use. It was like holding a 2x4 to your ear to talk on the phone, and you constantly felt like you were pressing your LCD panel (which cost $80 to replace) into your face.

Bugzilla is way too involved for public use. If I'm going to stick a toe in the water, I want my first interaction to be very simple, and rewarding.

You should use the Bugzilla Helper, which still has a few fields (many less than the main bug entry page), but they are mostly necessary for a bug tracking package... You would never get it down to one field. :)

This helper form simplifies the bug submission process and describes every field fully. You may complain that that there are still too many fields on this form, but I would argue that they are all pretty necessary for a good bug report.

I can also use it on the train, the bus, and many other places that are not a car.

Since it uses standard laptop IDE drives, I can easily put a larger drive in the unit... 6GB is a little tight for me, but it has done me well for the past 7 months...

The telnet server stuff has already been covered, but more importantly, people seem to have this untrue belief that the GUI in be is necessary. Most everything in the OS is launched via startup scripts, including the GUI. Granted, since no other interfaces are available, it would make life a bit difficult to use without Tracker/Deskbar running, it isn't impossible to comment out all the necessary lines to boot with no gui, and launch the necessary software in that script (telnet daemon, beowulf client, etc.)
