Umm, who's Gillian? Gillian Anderson from the X-Files??
You don't by chance mean Gilligan from Gilligan's Island, do you (a.k.a. Bob Denver, RIP)?
You remember, "Seven stranded castaways...Gilligan, The Skipper too, the Millionaire...and his Wife, the mooOOOoovie star, The Professor and Marianne...here on Gilligan's Isle!"
Two Post Office Robots A 1.5-meter tall male-type security robot, uPostMate, will guard the post office all day long and can shoot a net to capture intruders at night.
A 1.2-meter female-type counterpart, PGR, will take care of customers by showing fun video clips to waiting clients on a built-in monitor.
Ok...I'd have the 1.2meter female robot "take care of" me, please. Oh, just wondering: is her head flat so I can set my beer down while I watch her fun videos? She wouldn't be a distant cousin of a Real Doll, by any chance?
I pay $113/year to the California Earthquake Authority to insure a two-story house just outside of Sacramento, Calif. Not prime earthquake territory, but not "very expensive" either.
It occurs to me that someone who posts on/. should be of high enough inteligence not to need a spellchecker.....and in any case, doesn't anyone proof read what they write anymore?
Ok, but next time, try spelling them "intelligence" and "proofread" instead.
A.G. Russell sells them. Years ago, you could get the "regular" fiber ones, but in past years, the CIA or some such agency encouraged the manufacturer to add a few metallic fibers--just enough to set off a metal detector. They mentioned this in their catalogs a few years back; the note was removed in later issues.
Here's a quote from their site:
"Due to new federal regulations, it is a felony offense to carry the CIA Letter Opener into an airport.
After about five years, we have revived the CIA Letter Opener. Designed in the mid-1970's, it was based on the A. G. Russell(TM) all steel Sting 1A and has been one of our most popular items of all time. This is the world's toughest letter opener. Made of fiberglass reinforced nylon, it weighs less than one ounce, but with the reinforcing ridges and blood groove to stiffen the blade, it can literally be hammered through a board. The uses are limited only by your imagination; self-defense to tent stakes. Measures 6-1/2" and weighs only 0.8 oz. Made in the U. S. A."
Isn't transformer oil full of carcinogenic PCBs? ( polychlorinated biphenyl--not good stuff to be around.
From the Wikipedia section: PCB mixtures have been used for a variety of applications, including dielectric fluids for capacitors and transformers, heat transfer fluids.... Their chemical and physical stability has also been responsible for their continuing low-level persistence in the environment, and the lingering interest decades after regulations were imposed to control environmental contamination.
Good "test" of how effective lasers were to blind pilots
1. Ineffective--the pilots are already blind from previous tests. 2. Why are airlines letting blind pilots fly anyway? Some ADA rule? Like the drive-up ATMs with braille instructions?
For the humor-impaired, the preceeding was, indeed, humor.
They tried doing this, and let's just say it took a LOT of balloons to get a young girl even neutrally buoyant.
But Pamela Sue Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith only needed four between them for a heckuva lot more buoyancy! (and if I was between them, I sure wouldn't be neutrally buoyant).
Even better...look for the ghostly legless, floating student with the red backpack. He seems to melt into the brick road.
Start on the right side, follow the wide diagonal greenery halfway up, go right to into the narrow parking lot (past red car to end of lot), zoom for the round blue bicycle-crossing sign on this side of the brick road. To the right of the thin fir trees and blue round sign, you'll see the "ghost".
There's another artifact-human further to the right, which may be the same guy, frozen earlier in time.
New spamming tactic: Get Yer Remotely Readable Implant Here! Transmit Yer Vital Statistics to Women up to 69 Feet Away! Double your...aww, nevermind
No, it's a Tuttle Troll. Or is that Buttle Troll?
Huh. I guess that wasn't too subtle, either.
Hey, I'm not taking off my tinfoil hat for NOBODY!
IIRC, isn't "goy" (or goyem, plural) a Jewish term for someone non-Jewish?
Don't you mean booty drive?

What happened? Did the dykes all pull their fingers out of the real dikes at the same time and cause flooding?
Actually, that's the Temporal Directive that's being violated..

Brother printers (and some others IIRC) have a red Job Cancel button that kills the current job.
Ok, but next time, try spelling them "intelligence" and "proofread" instead.
Oh Yeah! That's the spirit! Oh, and set up a webcam while you're at it, hmm?

Actually, I think you are typing faster than TFA said " It is amazing how slow typers almost double their speed and quick typers become blazing fast!"
Speed up and add the "-ly" and you're typing fast enough to burn off your own keycaps.
That's a pretty funny malaprop (considering it's Slashdot)! Hmmm, the 2nd "P" in PHP stands for...what, again? Pointy-Haired...Pixie? Person? Professor?
It couldn't be Pointy-Haired Boss, could it? Naaaaa... ;-)

Mmmmm...love them liquidated board members. Especially over ice, with a slice of lemon.

Are no-no bots like nanobots, except they keep doing terribly bad things, so you yell at them: "No! No!" ?
Bzzzzzzzt! Sorry, it's 12345. Thanks for playing.
Wasn't that 8d4ysAwk?? (4 for A), else that's 8 deys a week. Hmm. Maybe you meant the Jamaican spelling for days, mon.
That sounds like you're picking up a small stringed instrument in the Music Department (not the French Dept.)
