Start a game of Minesweeper. Click a square with both the right and left mouse buttons at the same time. Keep holding the buttons down and hit the escape key. You have now stopped the clock and are free to clear incredible amounts of mines in mere seconds. If you want to restart the clock, minimize Minesweeper and then open it again from the taskbar. The clock will restart.
Cheat No. 2: Windows 3.1, 2000, NT, and XP
Start Minesweeper. Type "xyzzy" without the quotes. Hit Shift and Enter at the same time. Minimize all your windows. The uppermost pixel in the top left corner of your desktop will turn black when you mouse over a mine, and white when it's safe to click.
Imagination is required, but there must be a reason to apply that to the real world
The space program, and everything resulting, is only the result of the 'cold' war. Had that not happened, there would be no space program as we know it. Maybe a few satellites, but certainly not a man on the moon in '69.
Huge advances in everything from quantum physics to computers to improvements in industry were a result of ww1 and ww2.
Even some like Gutenberg, very imaginative on his part, but also there was a HUGE need for what his imagination had to offer. Without that need, at that time, we probably would have given credit to someone else later.
Imagination/creativity is a part of the equation, but to apply it to a real world need is much more important to make an 'invention'.
If he wants to convince us and the rest of the world that it has nothing to do with oil, he should make sure the Iraqis grant drilling rights to non-American companies to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
What... like points b,c, and d from this???

a.. According to the CIA World Factbook, France controls over 22.5 percent of Iraq's imports.[1] French total trade with Iraq under the oil-for-food program is the third largest, totaling $3.1 billion since 1996, according to the United Nations.[2] In 2001 France became Iraq's largest European trading partner.
b.. Roughly 60 French companies do an estimated $1.5 billion in trade with Baghdad annually under the U.N. oil-for-food program.[3]
c.. France's largest oil company, Total Fina Elf, has negotiated a deal to develop the Majnoon field in western Iraq. The Majnoon field purportedly contains up to 30 billion barrels of oil.[4]

e.. France's Alcatel company, a major telecom firm, is negotiating a $76 million contract to rehabilitate Iraq's telephone system.[6]
f.. From 1981 to 2001, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), France was responsible for over 13 percent of Iraq's arms imports.[7]
Germany
a.. Direct trade between Germany and Iraq amounts to about $350 million annually, and another $1 billion is reportedly sold through third parties.[8]
b.. It has recently been reported that Saddam Hussein has ordered Iraqi domestic businesses to show preference to German companies as a reward for Germany's firm positive stand in rejecting the launching of a military attack against Iraq. thanks, I was gonna post that but you said it better.
Yes this war is about oil but it has nothing to do with lining any americans pockets. We want to stabilize the region, and them destroying their only major profit source isn't helping anyone. I'd mod you up if I had any points right now.
I have had a different cell number every 6mo to a year for the years I have had a cellphone. I rarely if ever get telemarketers or anyone else unsolicited. Between personal contracts and work supplied phones, the number to reach me at changes often.
The few calls I dont want that I get are people calling for whomever previously had that number. Strangely enough they seem to be non-english-speaking mexicans. Fortunately, yo hablo un poco espanol, so I let them know... spanish in a minnesota accent... Su nombre esta malo, me llamo no es Juan, dontcha know?
back in spanish class I was known to interject: "?Te gustas me penga grande peludo? Pendejo?"
"In other news... Although a prototype PS3 has not even been fully designed much less built, several guys without girlfriends got several linux distros running on it, they then got it to emulate a C64 webserver"
israel-palestine
the big problem there is that the US wont let either side achieve complete victory, and there will not be peace until one side is completely victorious.
I really dont care much either way, but I think if the US were to go hands off in that region, the country of Israel would probably own the middle east in 5-10 years. Their military is soooo far ahead of its neighbors, and their neighbors would stupidly attack them first, then get wiped. I think the US is deterring Israel from doing that with $$$. Oh, and arabs hate jews and want Israel gone. They hate us cause we give Israel money, mostly to restrain them from retaliating in the manner they would prefer. You think if Sharon had his way there would even be talk of a palestinian state? So the arabs think were helping the jews, when in reality were helping the arabs not get their butts kicked. Israel has never lost a war. Its a big mess over there and there probably isnt a way out of it for some more time.
but you really cant simplify something like that to 'blood brings blood' or 'war brings war'. Yeah, it would be great if there was no war, but pick up your history book. Its gonna happen for your grandkids and their grandkids. No amount of protesting is going to change that.
mod that guy up. Not a military person myself, about half my company is (50 people, 25 ex military). To many companies an honorable discharge is better than a college degree. Especially a degree in liberal arts (non-media jobs anyways)
If you put 'I protested ' on your resume you will give the reviewer a laugh as they throw it in the wastebasket.
It matters I suppose. I have no prob with/. posting these kinds of articles, but to appreciate this news bit you have to be a geek AND a lawyer. Or at least be really knowledgable about patent law. I am not as such, probably most everyone here is the same (makes for some interesting uninformed posts though).
I know enough about programming and network administration and such, but patent law just doesn't have any logic to it as far as I can tell.
However, from reading the article blurb, I (possibly incorrectly) assumed it meant it would save you time in doing the things that you are already doing. I think you already know this, but good point anyways.
Dungeon Siege or Neverwinter Nights. Thats not a tough choice.
Combat Flight Sim 3 or IL2. Thats not a tough choice.
Age of Empires or Europa Universalis 2 (for realism) or any command and conquer game (for the same gameplay) That also is not a tough choice
how about Trainz vs Microsoft Train Simulator. Once again, the non-ms product has it.
Okay, the microsoft 4x4 monster truck game (cant rememvber the title exacly) against 4x4 EVO. I would rather have the non-microsoft SUV.
The close combat series was GREAT under SSI, microsoft made it suck. The UI was improved, but the playability went to nothing.
The future of Microsoft games seems to be: find a successful genre and then make a second rate game...I guess you could argue the same about their office suite and their OS, but thats not the point of this post. The future of gaming historically has not been microsoft. It has been someone else, then microsoft makes the same game with a better UI... Not just a troll, but a hardcore gamer's opinion...
I work as a contractor for both the public and private sectors. I have about 100 customers. Number of customers I have running MS: 100%. Number of customers I have running Linux: 0%.
While I would much rather work on something that isnt MS, I also need to eat...
some other physicist (cant remember name) claimed that Stephen Hawking had stolen some of his ideas used in 'a brief history of time'. It was mostly proven that this was not the case...
They want to silence the slashdot crowd. So, free internet access with a big mac, who does that target? people like us... make us get fat and die, no more MS bashing.
Next they will announce 'free' broadband for a week with the purchase of a carton of smokes.
really. What laws have been passed that interfere with YOUR civil rights? I hear all this whining about laws being passed here that make us look worse than nazi germany (somehow)... In my own life I have not seen any difference between now and a few years ago. Apparently you do, so really, I am curious, what has happened in your life that makes you refer to our policing as KGB?
