They don't work in practice but that doesn't make them evil.

Let's start with the fact that nobody really tried them in practice.

Political parties that call themselves "communists" or "socialists" today are, in fact, pursuing the same goal as every other political party in existence: power and money.

The fear of socialism in the states confuses me, it isn't complicated and it is already partially implemented.

It's a fear of losing freedom and having individuality subordinated by the state.

You have a very perverted idea about what socialism really is.

In PHP it actually comes with the retardedness of the standard libraries, which encourage you to write crappy code.

In C/C++ I'd say the crappy type system is to blame. You spend more time fighting it than actually designing code.

Haskell has an excellent type system and libraries, but too hooked up on pureness and functionality, to my taste. This is probably why I fell in love with Scala.

Apparently they care more about freedom than having the highest quality images available.

This is the good thing. I don't come to Wikipedia to see HQ images. I come for free information I can immediately use: quote or contribute. There are plenty of other sites, where you can find images.

Well, since the most expensive movies are not worth watching outside of a *good* movie theater, I'd say the trend is clearly there.

Another problem with music, though, is that in terms of quality of the music itself, live performances are much worse than recorded music.
