eBay's interest in Skype never made much sense to me. Live voice auctions might have fit in, but seem rather impractical. It will be nice to have Skype ownership that has a vested interest in Skype's core business.
So: if you're a Slashdot reader who moved abroad because of the political situation, please post here,
Acutally, I'm a Canadian that has been planning on moving to California in March. Don't know if I should, or even if I can anymore. This really sucks, we are really getting sick of the snow and taxes.
Maybe I'll move to Nevada and help swing the next election back for Hillary.
OS X is far from the holy grail of the UI too, just check google for the number of Mac users that loathe the new finder.
...and you'll find that 99 percent of them are former OS 9 users and just don't like change. Everyone coming from Windows, KDE, etc has only the highest praise for the Aqua interface of Mac OS X.
how can he say that windows has no manufacturing costs? 3-4 weeks ago on slashdot after the windows source code leak, folks were saying "holy shit guys - look at the 4.5 million lines of code that becomes windows! what a crappy, bloated OS!". now this dumbass claims that it costs nothing to manufacture. how many man-hours did it take to write windows 2000? windows xp? the media it is shipped on costs very little, but one-time cost of writing is also counted in the total-cost. so unless it was written by non-paid interns (which we know is not the case), this guy is grossly underestimating the profit.
This is total bullshit. Look at how much money Microsoft took in ($32,187 x 10^6) versus how much money they spend in running the company ($5,686 x 10^6)..... .....AND..... .....that includes all the money they lose on xBox and other bullshit they finanace with their Windows/Office monopoly. That makes for a far more than 566% percent markup on Windows/Office. Now don't forget that R&D is way up now too financing the next Winbloze due whenever they get their act together.
I could just keep going but this damn Microsoft ranting gets my friggin blood pressure up.
I find it very hard to hear or read anything about Disney without getting frustrated with their copyright practises. That name has become the definition of evil copyright abuse.
When I first started selling computer in Calgary, I had this boss who was the cheapest man on the planet. The local TV station used to have on-air auctions and local businesses used to put stuff up for auction. The deal was, if the item you auctioned off was worth $1000, you would get $2000 worth of air-time for commercials. It worked out to be a pretty good deal, but my boss, being the ass he is, took an old MacSE 30 (this is in 1999), and a whole whack of software he couldn't sell and bundled it together and auctioned it off claiming it was worth $2000. Some poor old schmuck paid over $1500 for it at the auction. Then when that poor old schmuck came to pick up the computer and software, the boss dodged out the back door and left for the day, leaving me as the only person there to help him load.
My wife recently got hooked on http://science.slashdot.org. Trying to call her is useless, she doens't hear it, so I have to IM her. It's the only thing that will get her attention even though her desk is only 6 feet from mine.
This is a not a very smart suggestion. ATI has had an excellent track record for drivers since the catalyst release which was long after windows 2000 stopped working for you, and...
You don't take into account that this card has TV tuner with downloaded TV GuidePlus+ which adds TiVo functionality to your PC. That alone makes this card priceless.
I would like however to see a version that works with satalite or digital cable.
On the other hand, I know of at least one prof who required his own text book and then refunded to the class what he made on them buying it. Some people are fair but don't count on it.
I had a prof last year make us use the textbook he wrote, but, he would photocopy it himself and sell it for the price of photocopying to people who took the class. Best $8 text book I've got.
this is a classic sign of monopoly. no incentive to change, no incentive to repair, no incentive to improve, no incentive to innovate.
IE will not have any more innovation ever. They don't milk any money from it, they are focussing all their "browser" efforts on MSN Software and services. They will spit off some crap about better content, security, innovative features, and charge you for it....
They think they can do whatever the hell they want now and tell us it's for the benifit of the customer, when it's just a company trying to make more money.
...is there anything else?
Maybe $5 is not expensive enough. They could probably setup a special $5000.00 version just for this occasion.

This reason right here is why despite Apple's failings I am an iOS user over Android.

This PDF sounds like a "how to" manual.
Near free, safe, energy. There's lots of it around, need better access to it.
"Men Willing to Say They Will Give up Sex for a 50in TV"
*fixed
Do I even need to comment?

Will these be installed in the left wrist or the forehead. Revelations
They picked a lousy week to try to go without TV. It's the playoffs.
I don't watch TV other than that anyway....
Try...
...or, even worse...
Highlander 3 (or the other Highlander 3)
Best of the Best 3
Damn those sucked.

So i quit.......
The Aqua interface for OS X was completely rewritten for 10.2 Jaguar last year, and it was amazing. Things got alot faster and more intuitive.

That may be, but try using S&T on Mac or Linux......hmm can't.
