I'd tell them to their face "What the FUCK kind of parent are YOU that you would let your kid play on a Segway unsupervised or FAIL to teach him/her the proper use of the machine."
I hear a lot of people bashing Dell for making "an Apple iPod Rip Off" however i'd like to point out that Apple's iPod was not the first MP3 player on the market, nor will it be the last. Right now if you go into your local computer store or your favorite online shopping center you'll see countless models.
Now whether the Nomad is better than the iPod is definately a matter of opinion, much like if Apple's are better than...Orange's (PC)? Each person has a unique and individual need and desire when it comes to the system they use or the music player and platform they choose.
If Dell wishes to make an MP3 player, than so be it. It could be cool, it could be lame, but its NOT an ipod rip-off. If IBM desides to make one, cool. If Gateway desides to make one, cool. If Microsoft decides to make, we'll bitch. But, I repeat, it's not a rip-off of iPod. Unless it comes out looking exactly the same (which it most likely wont) then you might have a valid argument.
As for me I don't listen to enough music so i'll be at the gym with my zaurus plus a 128mb SD card and my "$10.99" headphones listening to Lords of Acid while I run on the tredmill for an hour. Then i'll put in my wireless card at the Jamba Juice next door and check my email.
First question: What if you are walking down to the local coffee shop and you hop on their "legally free and open" hotspot. You then proceed to share and dload tons of copy righted music. When the IP is traced it will go to that coffee shop, not to you. How do they find you? I assume they can't, unless your there and they are lookign for you at that time and see Kazaa open on your screen for some reason.
Question 2 What if you have a AP at your house that you leave open for your neighbors and friends to use and one of them is sharing files? The IP gets traced to you right, so are you responsible for their actions if you had no knowledge that they would or were doing that?
Could you please keep up the good work by making a virus that erases everyones Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express Debt. That would really be great. Thank you.
I think AMD definately proved themselves here. I'm an Intel Fan Boy I guess, but I have to admit that if Intel had not added in a 2mb Lv3 Cache (P4 Extreme) AMD would have been a clear victor overall instead of the 32 to 15 score THG had.
However I do think that AMD still has a lot to do now especially with the Prescotts (P5's) coming out soon enough.
Although I still see a lack of a 64bit "need" in my daily work, if all the new programs next year can include 64bit support then i'm all for it.
that gets rediculous bullshit that doesn't even come close to what i'm doing currently?
I'm a capricorn...
"You may feel confused about whether to pursue a new certification or degree. Seek out a former colleague's advice. No actually i'm not taking a cert right now, nor considering one.
This is a period of non-stop stream of consciousness. Pay attention to ideas that come to you in the middle of the night. Embrace new ideas and try to look at your work from new perspectives. Ok thats decent advice.
Whatever you do, you will succeed if you play strictly by the rules. Don't take foolish chances -- stick to established protocols in your work environment. Because you're so good at what you do, others will want to give you more responsibility. Take the reins if they're offered. Um.. My boss is the only person above me and he is not leaving any time soon. If a new project comes in thats because we got another client, I only get to keep my job for being responsible.
Travel and relationships with people far away are emerging as huge trends in months to come." I have no money to go anywhere and I did a lot of travelling last year, this year I do not even want to go anywhere, not to mention I can't even afford it right now.
So I get offered some good advice (to go with my good ideas) and a lot of bullshit.
I can see why if ALL of china went Linux with Linux boxes and then out comes some new windows only gadget, or even in a more realistic view - out comes a new high-end printer that will not run under Linux Period (Xerox Fiery setup with a DC40?) then their kind of screwed.
I still think that rather than have a "standard" (I hate that word) it's better to just use 1) what your comfortable with 2) what works with your shit and 3) what can continue to work with your new addons.
Linux is only considered more secure than windows because it has less attacks. Not to mention the script kiddies don't bother to learn Linux, they learn Windows which is on their systems at school, work, home, at the library, at kinkos, at their friends houses.... etc...
When (and i'm sure it's only a matter of time) Linux becomes a valid second choice for the home user, then you will start to see way more vulnerabilities being brought into the light and Red Hat will have security updates every week much like "the dreaded M$".
Of course then everyone on Slashdot will complain how Red Hat is such a monopolistic entity that has abused the open source community by marketing to the consumer whore masses and training the non-1337 in the way of our holy linus's kernal.
The Novice user does not understand how or what "an FTP" is and does NOT know how to "send/upload" files to his "website" let alone create a page to link them.
As far as the person getting them. some may not even know how to get it to "stop playing in the browser" and actually save it to the desktop using right click (option+click if 1 button)
Not to mention the fact that when you type in "Britney Spears MP3's" in google you get anything BUT Britney MP3's... let's be reasonable here.
Even the most basic user can figure out how to install a program (in windows everything is "I agree" - "Next" - "Finish" - "Done") and type in a song name and grab it or share it.
Now when it asks for my PIN # I can just hit the "escape" key and it will still login and let me withdraw cash from the Bank's own "Administrators" account.
At least thats what they could say and just do what IBM has done with their Thinkpad MAMOTH series (the ones that are like 8lbs, but have a real P4 in them)
Either way I think their wide screen idea (17" laptop) is fucking HUGE but very sexy and easy on the eyes.
All FInal Fantasy's from 7 and on run on windows. However there will be "minor" differences between the 2 versions. For example in 8 you can rename your characters on the PC version - in 8 on the PS2 you cannot rename them.
Linux isn't for games. Sorry. Yeah I know you can play Quake, and Master of Orion now and maybe a few others using wine or winx, but lets get real Linux, just like apple, will never be as good a gaming platform as windows. Sorry. Bitch about performance, Bitch about pipelines and fantasize about 64bit architecture, but the FACT is windows 0wNz on the gaming platform and with so many game developers contnue to stick wiht that trend its gonna stay that way.
So keep your linux for your server. Your mac for your printing, and windows for your games.
I guess you could say I'm a big Intel fan-boy (only because i've had bad experiences with AMD and Cyrx that has left me jaded) but i'm not about to get all sprung about this. Right now i'm using a p4 1.6 with 1g mem and 5200fx, it runs every game ive played fine - even in multiplayer (games = BF1942, WC3, NwN+Exp, etc...)
The way my system is setup I can support HT so eventually i'll max my system out using a 3.06 with HT. And that will last me another couple years at least.
But right now I feel robbed. Robbed because there are no games or apps (I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark mostly) that really push the envelope. Sure Photoshop can always be improved but thats the only exception I have - none of the games are laggy. I used to somewhat enjoy wasting money on buying more memory and a new cpu every 6 months because "something" new was coming out that would utilize some new technology or something.
It's my opinion that there is very little innovation going on in the land of computers. Sure we're making things faster (somewhat) but it still costs a SHITLOAD and doesn't give us a shitload in return....I want to see Intel create a NEW chip that actually R0x0rz my b0x3n...
OH and before somene shoots off with an Apple remark - I like Apple when working/talking to my printers and doing 1 thing at a time - I hate multitasking on my mac - even tho OS X is 100x's better than 9 handled things, it just seems to lag more than my pc does when going back and forth between apps and opening/saving large files. (i'm sure you can disagree but it's a preference thing - much like my views on AMD/VIA/Cyrix, etc...)
I think I might still have my original cd's for 95, 98, and 2000. But the problem is I don't have ANY of the paperwork that came with them. I might have the cd's on a little slip of paper with them, but I never thought i'd get anything back for them so I never bothered to keep that stuff, plus it's been oh 8 years since I bought win95 and i'm not a pack-rat. Since they ask for the "original certificate of authenticity" can I just send them my original cd's? I'm sure they'd be able to tell that they are real and not "fake" whatever that means...
fining the software manufacturer for allowing the exploit/hole/security problem? Bet a lot of software companies would make a LOT more rock solid apps/os's...
90% of the people who sign/agree to this are the same ignorant people who NEVER update windows, don't have an antivirus software, and think that because they don't look at porn it "can't happen to them"...
Not to point out the obvious, but the average consumer buys an Xbox to PLAY GAMES ON IT. The Xbox is NOT their home computer. The Xbox is NOT storing personal information on it. The Xbox is a TOY. Its software being kept up to date through the Live network is KNOWN, and is a GREAT selling point for those that enjoy the Xbox.
And if you install Linux on it - your no longer playing games on it since it wouldn't work anymore for that - so why would you even have or be paying for the Live service?
Once again - "OMG the world is blowing up" - NO no it's not....
"In the last few hours there have been several reports of a M$ bug, with an exploit seemingly in the wild. Oh god not again... The lengths some people will goto to try and damage Billy Gate's pride."
See how easy it is - that should be a -1 flamebait topic on your post.
Now that thats over with I belive (read: may be mistaken) but the latest version from www.openssh.com addresses that issue. But it could just be a similar issue and i'm reading it wrong. If I am enlighten me.
Mabe this is the same company who is looking for a "Garapic Deziner" and a programmer with "20 Years Java Experience" on craigslist....
1) Buy www.A9.com and all the similar domains
2) Amazon offers you money or changes the name
3) PROFIT!!!
I'd tell them to their face "What the FUCK kind of parent are YOU that you would let your kid play on a Segway unsupervised or FAIL to teach him/her the proper use of the machine."

Inquireing minds want to know
Could you please keep up the good work by making a virus that erases everyones Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express Debt. That would really be great. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mr. College Debt
I am so happy this is finally gone through!
But... what if my email server is physically located in Hawaii while myself is located in California?

I don't think it would matter to much.

How about they sue every pc manufacturer as well for allowing it to run under windows - oh yeah guess they'd better sue microsoft too.

it's going to be coming out late this year/ early next year and only have
"206MHz Intel StrongARM processor with 16MB of Flash ROM and 32MB of system RAM"
The new Zaurus's coming out at the same time are having 400mhz Strong/Arm and a total of 96mb of ram/rom
they really need to up the specs on that if they want to compete....
