    There already is a virus scanning option in Knoppix. But I admit, it isn't easy to find and set up. I think it's buried somewhere in the Knoppix menu and you also need to be online to install it first.

  4. At least it's a start... on Nintendo Going Online, Releasing New Games · · Score: 4, Interesting
    I always wondered if Nintendo didn't want to go online since they didn't have as much computer/server experience as Microsoft or Sony. In a pinch, Microsoft and Sony could probably pull workers from other divisions to set up game servers.

    Online support for the DS would give them an easy chance to practice. It's a small group of users. And besides, it wouldn't take much bandwidth to serve DS games.

    I think one thing you missed with online distribution is that it eliminates buyback (or sellback) programs. I still know a few software stores that will buy back used games. This won't happen with the Steam distributed HL2.

    If online distribution becomes the norm, then people won't be able to sell back their games to get a little credit toward a newer game.

    If this is accurate. VIA's may have trouble with their Epia series of motherboards. I've got an M10000 and I'm looking to upgrade soon.

    Yes, it makes sense but it seems that Sony neglected to set guidelines on acceptable power consumption. Without battery consumption guidlines, Sony is basically taking no responsibility and put the entire problem (and blame) of battery life in the hands of developer.

    Sony has to do more than say "Here's a battery emulator. Be more efficient."

    Playing mp3's should take less power than playing games, and playing movies should take the most. But by how much? No one knows. Sony has make guidelines since it's their hardware. The fact that Sony won't set minimums like :

    mp3 playback = 20 hrs

    gameplaying = 10 hrs

    movie playback = 3 hrs
