Being a "junior" sysadmin or an intern under good people is the best training anybody can get

I'd have to agree with this. I work with the sysadmin at my school. A fair portion of the class time I work with him is spent fixing all the various problems pertaining to school computers / printers / network. That period is probably where I learn the most each day, much more than in Calc 3. Odd how the highest level math offered in the school seems less useful than those menial computer-fixing jobs.

Now are they also going to teach PHP and MySQL?

Actually, this is exactly what I've been doing since last year. In addition to the Cisco CCNA course offered at my high school, a teacher picked a few students out of the C++ class, including myself, to learn PHP and MySQL. In fact, last year we entered the Thinkquest USA contest, and actually took first place with this website. So, to answer your question, yes they are teaching PHP and MySQL.

Odd, it's my experience that it falls most often on the single folk, men and women alike.

My suggestion, everyone should go out and let all your single friends know how much you care for them. It really can make an otherwise miserable day such as Valentine's much, much better.

If I'm interpretting this correctly, you're saying that drinking black coffee makes you successful, a genius, and good with the ladies. Well I've had cats my whole life and am good at math. What do you conclude? I think that instead of drinking coffee (or "carbonated sugar water") kids should exercise and sleep about 7 hours a night. From my experience it works a lot better.

If you blow up some other civilizations, odds are someone else will blow you up. However, if you respect everyone and work out disputes, then you can be very successful, as well as get all the good trade.

Okay, I absolutely agree with you with regard to teaching ability of people who've used what they know in life. My 10th grade chemistry teacher was a chemist before becoming a teacher, and this translated into him being a great teacher. However, I think that the millions of dollars it costs to get into space might not be worth a few students getting a better education. Maybe as a compromise NASA could send 5 teachers out in a ship instead of one, spending only a fraction per teacher that they would have before. I just fail to see why sending one person into space should be worth the incredible cost to the government in as bad a shape as it already is. Maybe wait a few years until the economy is better and I'll agree with you more on this topic.
