    The artical also spoke of at least one family of weight lifting champions who had this condition naturally. They did not say the name because the family wanted to be anonymous, but if they know of a family who this happens semi frequantly in then it can't be the first case of it.

    for setting up a home server it depends on what you want it for... if you want it for http ftp ssh and so on then linux really is the easiest way to go (if you can set it up which now is fairly easy) most windows ftp http ssh solutions will cost some more money somewhere or be using less than great servers (with the exception of apache) when you install linux and ask it to install apache it will normally give you a working setup right after the install, but when you install apache on windows it takes a bit of configing (not that bad)

    If you want to do file sharing and such with other windows machines i would recomend using a windows machine (you can still do ftp http and such but those are trickier than on linux). Linux does have samba and can share files using "windows filesharing" but in my experiance it is easier to get an xp machine sharing to xp machines than linux to xp

    so my recomendation:
    ftp http ssh - use linux
    windows file sharing - use windows

    I use a moderatly close aproximation to this... My water bed. My laptop tends to get warm if i keep it on a part thats properly made with the insulating stuff under the sheets but if its got nothing or just the sheet between it and the whole load of water then it stays nice and cool.

    Reading the parent post and and with all the recent cd life span issues lead me to wonder what the storage capacity of film is. I know it is possible to aproximate the number of crystals on the film but they are not in perfect rows (nor would you want them to be for photos). Anyone know how much data could be stored on 35mm film? using just black and white as pixels as single bits and them moving up to have a specific color pixel representing a number of bits...?

    The interference robustness ( I read it as interface at first too) option is supposed to increese conectivity. It has been said to decreese range a bit however in high interference environments it should help to get a connection or a faster one. Even though it does reduce range this option doesn't reduce range to the extent that people are saying this update does...

    (1) High resolution images of the documents.

    If you look at the link they give you for each of the documents it includes the phrase narrowband. This may mean that there are higher resolution versions of these books. On the main page they also say that they are experiancing very high usage of that portion of the page, and it would be logical to assume they took down the high quality ones until the rush of people subsides.

    (2) Translations of the text so that visitors can understand what the documents say.

    I'd have to agree with you there...

    (3) Digitally restored images (photoshopped) to fix the fading and bleeding that some of the sketches have undergone.

    While this seams like a nice idea, It then isn't really a duplication of the orriginal document. It would also not be needed if they take your second sugestion.

    They did not outright say this cannot be done with trees in the artical just that they are currently not doing it with them. If it were done with a tree would its wood take on the purple color described in the artical? I'm sure a non staind purple wood would be worth something, especially if you start with a wood thaat is already resonably saught after.

    The article does say that the process pays for its self with enough left over for training... now, but what about a few years down the road when the decontamination has been underway for a while. The only way that I can see this process sustaining its self throughout the decontamination is if the toxic metals being removed from the soil absorbe at a rate greater than the gold. If they don't then the gold will dry up along with the toxic metals.

    Ther can be very little toxic material in soil and it can be un able to be used to consumable crops. Any one have any ideas how quickly the toxic metals and the gold will all get absorbed?

    Slashdot may be influential however the people who tend to install spyware don't know better and are unlikly to read slashdot. I found the google toolbar to be fairly useful when I ran windows. I knew it tracked some data bout what pages I was more active on but that was the entire basis of their page ranking system, and their page ranking system is why many of us like google so much.

    So remember next time you are reading the privicy policy (if anyone does, unlike me :-D ) not all logging/monitoring is bad. It depends on its intended use.

    I run quake 3 under linux with dual p3 1ghz and a Nvidia geforce 2 mx 400, and as long as i run the nvidia drivers it works great... with the default nv drivers it sucks.... Maybe you havent installed the nvidia drivers if you think that quake is out of your reach?

    Thats from your begging the question link. By what it says your both right. The orriginal meaning was not raising or inviting the question, but because the popular use is as such, that makes it so.

    I normaly dont post be cause i feel i have nothing that will be of any use to the masses (and dont like t piss people off) but this is my second post in about as many days.. the reason? yet an other error on the main page. the time is in under 15 sec not under 15 min. I personaly doubt it could be done in 15 sec, maybe with case already off and all, but thats not a very good measure of the tru time. people posting on the main page... use the preview button and reread those pages once :-D other than that keep it up... ok back to silently watching from the shadows...

    No body else seems to have mentioned that if you go to the info page once main link loads... you will see that is does cd RW ar 24X but does normal cd's at 40X... When i was looking at it and thought it was 24X12X40 or something like the 24's often are i thought it was quite cool but impractical.. However with a 40x24x?? it may be well worth theat extra feature... The real question is if it doest the image printing as it burns or after it burns. I remember reading when it first came out that it burnt between the tracks of the data to make the image does this mean that it takes as long extra as it would to burn the amount of data in that space??? Bascily what will the final burn time be after the 40x + image?

    Would some form of a plane like the harrier jet do the trick? If durring flight they just did not tilt the jets all the way to the horizontal that would reduce the ammount of lift the wings had to produce and thus reduce the speed at which it must travel to fly. Lower speeds should make for easier landings.
