Besides offering a cheap Mac, Steve needs to emphasize the inherent security of Macs in their ads. I am the computer guy for a Mac office and we never have to worry about viruses, spy-ware or trojans. Add in the cost of buying virus protection software and the time spent scanning for and getting rid of viruses to the cost of a PC and the $500 Mac becomes a real bargin.
OK, I will, I have an old pc something 133 pentinium or sumptin i hear that that there linuks is good to have shud i gets it? does it work on that internets?

I agree, what ever happened to good old HTML? And why so much border? You have a whole browser, fill it up, I had to put my glasses on to read the text and all I wanted to know was where to get a good digital camera for around $150.
Another case of designing for the PHB. What looks good on the latest PC on a high speed connection at work, might not even show up in the browser of the average user. And did you even check to see if it runs on Macs or Linux???
What a useless preview. No alien walking machines destroying whole cities. No panic in the streets. No water towers with shotgun holes! So why should I see this and not just rent the 1950's version? Should I get it just because the same guy made E.T.? Give us some reason to spend $7++ for this.
What is so great about self-updating. Sometimes you just don't want to update if your current system is working well. Apple OS X has software update, but you can set it so that you can check it yourself every few weeks. Why should I upgrade iCal if I never use it? Why upgrade 10.3.4 if it is running well? How is this some sort of wonderful new business model?
The German magazine Der Spiegel is covering this story. They praise Firefox for being quicker, lighter and for its ability to be configured by the individual. They also say that many IT security experts recomend Firefox over Explorer and think that it may become a real competitor to Explorer.
Firefox 1.0 steigt in den Ring (Firefox 1.0 Enters the Ring):
I'd rather download another Grateful Dead show and listen to it on my iTunes or iPod. What is on the radio that I want to listen to? Like recoreded music, radio is dead. The new wave is to download music from bands that want you to listen to their music and come to their shows. Metallica is not afraid that you will download their music, they are afraid that you wont given the choice of all the bands that have their music for free on the net. The music buisness has missed the boat on this one and no piece of legislation is going to change that (see previous story).
Been using FileMaker for our office for six years. Easy learning curve, easy (more or less) to use web interface. Tried MySQL and PHP but the learning curve was too steep for now. Not sure how 7 will be, but on 6 now and its working great. Now does anyone out there want to help me enter 500 city contacts? Whatever you use, you still have to do data entry.
I still have a 19" Montgomery Wards TV that my parents bought in the early 80's. Only get two channels CBS and PBS and I am still alive! If I want to watch something interesting I get a DVD (did need to get a RF modulator for the DVD player). I couldn't see spending thousands on a HD Widescreen digital integral tricyclic circuit system, would rather buy a new car.

Yes, what lulabud said. I sort of like being able to keep track of what is a variable and what is an array.
PHP is available on OS X, but only if you activate it and then use it for web stuff. Perl is more fun and arrays are too wishy washy in PHP anyway.
Walrus99 does the Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family: Run, run, run, run, ....
In graphic design (including web) clear white space is a powerful tool.
In music (the silences are as important as the notes) or in theatre (dramatic pauses) - emptyness is powerful and just as important as words.
So the ideal web design would be a graphic equivilent of John Cages 4'33"?

And where is OpenOffice for Mac OS X, not X-11, but X? If they can translate it into Swahili why can't they translate it into Cocoa?
Unless you are lefthanded.
Forget Norway, I'm buying land 30 miles inland in North Florida, it should be beach front land in about 50 years.

This plot been done before, in fact apparently 1000 times before: Hero With A Thousand Faces
And I think someone has already done a science fiction version of it.
Sidenote (spoiler): Palpatine is Anakin's father. See first link above.
What if someone is and Ellen Jamesian? This wouldn't work at all.

Saw Redhat in a box (9 CD's) at Office Depot, $99. Do you think its worth loading on an old e-machine?
I hear him saying "Paul is dead, miss him, miss him." But then that is from the White Laser Disk.
