  1. workers forced into this type of a situation by management would say "F___ you" and walk out.

I would say "F___ you" and then *NOT* walk out. I would *MAKE* them fire me. Don't let Management think that this is a good idea. They will have to write down the reason for firing, and then they can be audited.

  2. Re:Music analogy doesn't work on In 5 Years, Games Experience Will Move From Discrete To Indiscrete, Says EA CEO (theverge.com) · · Score: 1

Also, I can listen to music at work ( As long as I listen at a reasonable volume....) and that's fine with my employer, but if game companies start pushing their gaming experience into my daily life, and it starts competing with my time at work, then you can bet my employer would have something to say about it.

  3. Yeah, leave the atmosphere. No air - no sound.

Didn't Branson already promise space based travel? Where are the rockets/planes for that? It's been several years.

  4. Then in that case, you still make my point for me, because the only people who have anything to gripe about are the people who bought the in-game currency from the hackers. They paid more for the in-game currency than it was worth (because it was de-valued, like you said). However, free market rules indicate that the hackers can charge what the market will bear. So, I don't know, sue Ticketmaster instead.

  5. Re:Not at all surprising on Comcast Takes $70 Gigabit Offer Away From Cities Near Chicago (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 3, Interesting

Yes, this behavior is expected, but not for the very cynical reasons you give. You see, it's actually a *GOOD* thing that comcast is limiting its gigabit service to certain areas. Allow me to explain: In the past, comcast has sold its internet service everywhere it could. Since there is a finite amount of bandwidth in the universe, this means that they often oversold their internet service, and their customers suffered for it.

Now that comcast has upgraded their peering connections, and has started to sell their gigabit internet (which has NO DATA CAP), they are doing the right thing, and preventing the overselling of their internet service. This is the behavior that we want to encourage.

  11. I like they way that you put "stealing" in quotes. It's not really stealing because EA did not lose any money. The hackers found a way to make the FIFA game CREATE money for them, and then they sold that in-game money for real money. The only people who are out "Real" money are the clients who bought the in-game currency, but they have something to show for it.

If anything, the people who bought the in-game currency from the hackers should sue EA for making a crappy program that someone could abuse.
