Earlier, you stated that anyone who bought something on Origin deserves to get fucked, yet here you are singing the virtues of buying a game that requires Games for Windows Live.
You keep going on about Steam, but have you ever actually gone onto the Steam forums? There are hundreds/thousands of threads full of people having numerous problems with their games.
Your initial point was that console gaming was almost as troublesome as PC gaming.
What does price have to do with that?
Which console games have left consolers 'screwed on patches'? The game being talked about in the article, is the developer's fault, and is not something inherent with consoles.
And when was the last time a console gamer had to deal with their system being underpowered, or running ancient drivers?
With regards to someone getting a refund from Steam, because the game wouldn't work on their PC, that sort of situation wouldn't arise in the first place on a console.
So, if you ignore all the problems that you can come up against in PC gaming, then you don't get any problems when gaming on the PC?
And, if you personally didn't have any problems with Deus Ex HR, it means you can ignore the fact that there are problems in general, and say that it is a problem-free experience.
In other news, Neil Armstrong says that he didn't have any problems breathing oxygen when he went to the moon, so everyone should go there for their holidays next year.
Anyone who tries to make out that PC gaming is any where near as simple as console gaming is either deluded, or a liar.
BF3 on the PC alone has caused more problems, for more people, than probably half the Xbox 360 catalogue has. You have to deal with Origin, plus the browser plugin, plus Punkbuster, and then, finally, the game itself.
You mention Deus EX HR, yet I seem to remember that having numerous problems that didn't exist on the console versions. In fact, I think some of them still do.
As an indie author I can sympathise with his annoyance at people pirating his work. However he is making the classic mistake of assuming that if those people couldn't get his work for free, they would have gone to Amazon and paid for it.
As my sig suggests I decided to upload all my own books to ISOHunt, Demonoid, Pirate Bay and Retroshare. I even posted about it in their forums, on 4Chan and include links to the torrents on my blog.
The torrent page and the forum posts all contained an image of the front cover of my latest book. I got some nice feedback and potentially reached a large audience that normally wouldn't even know who I was.
So what advantages are shrinking then? There is still an order of magnitude of difference in the complexities inherent between PCs and consoles and that isn't changing in any meaningful way.
You may rarely have issues with your PC because you know how to look after and operate it. As do I.
Wait, just so we are clear here; you actually think that the problems you can get with consoles are approaching the number and complexity of issues you can get with PCs...?
Updates for a console are done automatically. What headaches are you talking about that can be in any compared to what you might have to deal with on a PC?
While consoles make sense for the businesses who want to lock-in users, they make absolutely no sense for consumers. PCs are a much better option in every way possible.
I uploaded all my own books to The Pirate Bay, Demonoid and ISOHunt a couple of months back. I created threads on the forums about it (including 4Chan...!)
It's impossible to say what the effect on sales was/is as they were so close to zero in the first place, but my website/blog has had an increase in the amount of people Googling for more info about my work.
Interesting.

Problems that simply don't exist on consoles.
And now you're back to being obtuse again.

Is your name Jim Sterling by any chance?
Right.

Someone being obtuse on the Internet? I'm shocked, shocked I tell thee.
The notion that you have got kids is laughable.

How on Earth can a simple game like Super Meat Boy have bugs?
The devs should make sure their games are finished before releasing them.
There is more to the choice than "do I get charged or not".
Those turtle-neck sweaters have plenty of sustenance. Think of those elven corn bread things from Lord of the Rings.
Except they actually published their post. A good writer would proofread their own single sentence before publishing it.
Arbitrary definitions of 'good' ftw.

Others don't.

Turn on console. Put in game. Play.
They make perfect sense for consumers.
Meanwhile, all I want to do is be able to curse and give frank assessments of your skill.
Both of which can be done quite easily without being an arsehole.
'prices would have come down long ago if the industry was getting a share of the resells
Did anyone else?
Ah yes, the problem is with everyone else.
Not you.
Oh no.
You seem to have trouble dealing in anything other than absolutes.
Your Amazon analogy doesn't work though; none of that money spent on PC hardware goes to Bethesda.
I spend money myself on upgrading my PC and I also have an Xbox 360 and a PS3.
At no point have I ever felt slighted one way or another when I didn't own all three systems.
I still don't understand what there is to be upset about.
The PC version has it's own advantages with the controls, performance, graphics, mods and whatever else.
The console versions have their advantages too which includes exclusive content that has been commissioned by the console manufacturer.
You win some and you lose some.
PC gamers already can FUS-RO-DAH in Skyrim with this mod - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5626
Enough with the conspiracy theories. Your paranoid sense of persecution is unwarranted.

I knew this story sounded familiar. Turns out Slashdot did the same story on March 17th last year!

It's utterly disgusting that they would even put something like that in it.
Says lonely man with bitch tits.
