It may not be the case in your area, but many Wal-Marts are going to be selling Wii's at 12:01 on 11/19. So, you might want to give yours a call and see if they'll be open -- if you wait till 8 they could be long gone.
You may be right in that the novelty of the remote will wear off, but I think the focus Nintendo is putting into developing new and interesting gameplay will keep you entertained for a while.
I can't wait for this system. Games are boring the hell out of me lately with the same thing churned out over and over again. If the E3 videos are any indication of how fun and new the Wii games are, it's going to be awesome. I'm looking forward to some sword fighting in Red Steel, Wii Sports for Tennis and Golf, the new Metriod and of course.. Smash Bros Brawl (even if it doesn't use the Wiimote like the other games, they did exactly what they needed to do to Smash Bros -- smooth out the gameplay, give it Internet capabilities and that's it.) This'll be the first system I'll buy on day 1 since my SNES.
"we're not constrained by bandwidth. You're not constrained by the size of the pipe anymore," Stephenson said, referring to the switched-video capacity of the network which delivers only one service to a single customer at a time."
So, he expects every home in America to have only 1 TV hooked to his TV network, and while that TV is on, nobody is using any computers in their house. It's this ignorant management and lack of innovation that makes most current telcos a dying breed. At least Verizon is taking a step forward with Fios and IPTV.
I run Slimserver at home that accomplishes the same thing, minus having to upload all of your music to a remote site. Just create a playlist and point any player capable of streaming a URL at it and you're done.
It also has the cool feature of being able to sync up multiple players on your LAN (using Softsqueeze or their hardware) for music that goes throughout your house..very cool stuff.
I really still don't see the point of having random celebrities show off your product at CES. If you're displaying a cool new product, people will take notice because it's something they might be interested in, not because it comes with the Scientologist seal of approval.
Yahoo should've saved their cash and had their CEO or a PR guy show it off.
I'm sure a lot of those 'converts' were due to the Mac Mini. I know, for me, the #1 reason why I never even tried owning a Mac was because I wasn't willing to spend $1-3k to try something out. $500 is a lot easier to spend than $2k for a PowerMac.
Then you have an ever-growing application support for OSX. Large games like World of Warcraft coming with a Mac client at release surely can't hurt.
Plus, damn if the iBooks don't look a lot nicer than my drab, boring Thinkpad.
Only $10.36 at Amazon.
As for the movie.. don't get too exicted about Reno 911's creators writing it. Ben Garant is most recently responsible for such "greats" as Taxi and Herbie: Fully Loaded...
Maybe they could cut costs..but, oh, I don't know.. hiring less lawyers to sue their customers.

Just because one company doesn't buy from the competition doesn't mean Intel is anti-competitive. It just means they won over AMD in this case.
It's like saying Ford is anti-competitive because you don't own a Chevy.
Scroll down a bit on this page to the NVIORAM pictures. Not only does it give you TB's of storage, but it also lets you plug your headphones into your record player.
And also, proof the US Patent office will give a patent to anything from anybody

Too bad gentoo would still take 2 days to compile...
Doesn't San Fran already have WiFi everywhere? I mean.. there's 108 Starbucks within a 10-mile radius..
Comcast is cable modem. FTTH he's talking about is via Verizon. Speeds there range from 5/2 to 30/5mbps.

Can 1 HD channel even fit through a 15mbps pipe?
Nah, you need this.

It's called W32.Girlfriend.M and not only does it talk, it won't shut the hell up!
If you're setting up your own server, then Teamspeak is free.
