I have a weird thought thou. Bush is a fundie, and it is known that Bush things we *are* at the end times. The reason that fundies support Israel, is the bible says the isrealites will be in the holy land and the end times. Could/would he promote a bill like this to inch towards the end times, which he firmly believes in?
I think glamorizing it might bring some kids to find interest in it, but the fact is, most science jobs aren't all that glamourous and getting hit by the reality of that may make careers short-lived.

Forget time syncing. If you absoultely can't get the time from outside -- get a GPS time piece. They hook up to your computer and provide accurate time signals from the GPS satelites which all carry atomic clocks. Use the computer this is connected to to run internal NTP.
Republicans used to stand for a more capitalistic tradition, and the dems used to stand for a more socialistic approach. The balance *BETWEEN* the two was a fair compromise. Socialism doesn't work, and neither does capitalism. Whats needed is a system where the poor are protected, the wealthy are enabled, and regulations and enforcement provide a fair playing field for labor and business.
Which you were pretty much stood with how much money you made -- if you are rich or expect to be rich, vote republican. If you are poor, liberal, or know you aren't going to be rich, vote dem. The problem at this time is, the Republicans aren't *ACTING* like Republicans anymore (they used to stand for less taxes through less government and less debt, "the market will provide a solution"). The republicans have been taken over by these leech christian neocons (the neocon philosophy in one sentence is, "Might makes right.") who have driven the republicans control of all 3 branches of government, but who have completely sold out the principles of less government in favor for democrat like handouts, except the handouts are going to corporations and the wealthy. At least the new deal arguably helped the poor?
So long story short, is, if you believe in true republican ideals, right now you need to vote democrat.
Make the community shoulder some of the burden of the system they are actively corrupting. This is a great idea for two reasons:
1. Companies will have a chance to stop patents of *OTHER* companies, it will be in their own interest to do so, and ultimately cheaper than a lawsuit.
2. As companies are *overrun* by bullshit patents, they will be forced to see the need for change:)
Instead of arguing with me, go ask a bunch of parents of teenagers or pre-teens which they think is more likely to happen: Pregnancy or murder.

I'm almost 30 and still have trouble with it sometimes (and don't start with the "well if you got some..." I have had sex more times with more women then most people).

I tried the newest KDE about a month ago to see how it was progressing... let me describe my experience. KDE starts up, plays some godawful sound and my desktop appears looking like a candy kid threw up at a rave. I do actually believe that KDE is a *better* window manager than Gnome, so instead of uninstalling KDE immediately,I end up at some KDE themes site trying to find a relatively low-key theme. I was 100% unsuccessful, after looking at all the top themes, each more gawdy, more filled with clashing bright colors then the next, I went screaming back to gnomes simplicity.
Do-Gooder psych is more pathological than that, and it's not limited to Sen. Clinton. Nor is it limited to her party. But it usually starts off with something "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good" and metastasizes from there.
And thats the problem with this entire f(*#(&! country. As a responsible citizen, *I AM TIRED OF BEING PUNISHED FOR THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS*. I am constantly being taxed, legislated and restricted to pay for and prevent the sins of others.
3 million mexicans cross the border illegaly last year -> Last year I broke my leg on a friday night and was told by the ER staff it would be faster for me to goto urgent care sat morning then to be seen at the hosptial because of all the illegal aliens in the ER (averaging a 24hour wait to be seen).
Previous generations have spent *MY* generation, and my future childrens generation into massive debt, effectively spending *OUR* prosperity, and in the meanwhile we are expected to provide for their 25 year retirements and medical care because *THEY* didn't save any money. Oh and did I mention that most companies no longer offer pensions if you can find a job at all, so I get to pay for *THEIR* retirements so I can be poor when I retire.
And now I can't have videogames because some kid with irresponsible parents might see some tits? When i was a teenager the only reason I got up in the morning was the *possibility* of tits.
I was one of the original team members of a very well respected distro (establishing street cred here) and I COMPLETELY agree. I find KDE so gawdy and QT so ugly that I feel like an idiot using it. Gnome is tolerable but has a long way to go yet.
The question is: Can you live with the consequences?
Maybe, maybe not. But should I have to live with the consequences of someone elses risk of ruin calculation when they decide if they should burglarize my house?

Violence is absolutely necessary. The fact that there is *NO* violence in our society is whats wrong with our society. In the hundreds of thousands of years before police, societies policed themselves. They did this with: violence. Anyone who did something wrong, would be beaten or killed by everyone else. There were direct consequences for your actions. Did people get beat up/killed for the wrong reasons? Sometimes yes. But on the whole things were safer.
In our society where the police have a monopoly on "justice", criminals are free to commit crimes that police don't have time to investigate: Burglaries, theft, etc etc. My house was broken into, a purse and car stolen, there was survaliance video of the theifs trying to use the stolen CC's in two places. We also know about where they live... yet the police didn't investigate, meanwhile these guys are causing a wave of burglaries in my area. And we know about where they live.
Yet, if a few homeowners and I were to go and kill them, we'd goto jail, because the police would investigate that crime.
This is *NOT* product placement. In product placement a item is integrated into the story/scenery/etc. Thats bastardly but fairly innocuous. Let me tell you *exactly* what is going to happen here:
Video advertisements will appear in videogames... no big deal. After enough consumer apathy and after the market has proved itself, games will become increasingly *designed* around advertisements. You'll have to watch advertisement X to get item Y. Then the game layouts will start changing to drag you past as many ads as possible. Then slowly, every game activity will become centered around finding an excuse to insert an advertisement, then video games will *SUCK* as much as television does. Video games that don't have ads will be much harder to get made because studios will start to rely on the revenue. Look how hard it is to get anything but a boring 3d shooter made as is.
Don't they get it? The reason the 17-34 crowd is so hard to reach with advertising is we're sick of being reached.
Actually, Congress allocates funding for NASA and thus is responsible for the lack of funds. You should contact your local Senate and House representatives if you wish to continue research in this area.
If the presidents ass-hatery has put us into record deficits... That forces congress (who i'm no great fan of) into a very bad situation.
