one of the uses was actually mentioned in the article. a cure for alzheimer's would be cause enough, if you have ever seen the suffering of an alzheimer patient. to watch a relative die of this in pain and anguish and to be one of the relatives watching, it is a terrible thing. think of all the other neurological diseases that we could cure with this technology.
we need regulations and a system of checks and balances, with those in place, experiment away

I recall seeing Drew Carrey show up during Sims parties to entertain the guests. Not only that but Christina Aguilara and Marilyn Monroe show up to sign autographs at parties since this last expansion pack. Then there are the HUNDREDS of celebrity skins you can add--all non-officially licensed mind you--but still making it one of the reasons the game is so damned popular.

Many people ask your question (and several in this thread second it) and my default answer each time is this: In the winter you have to heat your home right? So let your fridge run and dump heat into the room-It's less work for your heating unit to do. If the heat were dumped outside, then your heater is still gonna be running but now just a little harder. I use this in practice as a matter of fact. I have 2 Athlon systems in my 10x12 computer room. They both sit on the floor with the sides open and they run 24/7. When it's cold I just shut the room up and it will be a good 10deg warmer than the rest of the house in the morning when I get up. Perfect for running down my chilly hallway to sit & read /. unitl I wake up! It's actually so efficient that I have totally blocked off the floor vent in this room to send the heat to a less balanced part of the house. Now when summer comes that'll be a different story but for now, my PC's heat (and fridge's) IS FAR FROM WASTED!

  14. The problem is... on MMO Gaming - Virtually Too Real? · · Score: -1

Why on Earth is this modded insightful? This is HIGHLY closed minded. And in MY opinion closed minded people are the problem with society. You've got to be willing to accept ideas that don't follow yours or you've got to accept people/cultures that aren't yours. Closed minded people are the ones who want to go out and tell the world "it's my way or the highway" and then start conquering other countries in the name of peace. It's been my experience that the anti-social people you are so quick to take a pot shot at are actually anti-social because of the closedmindedness of society. How would you like to be constantly told you are wierd, outcast, people hate you, you're worthless etc etc day in and day out? If this happened to you YOU might be the one becoming anti-social. What's the point of trying to interact with society when you just get for example: beat down because you are gay. Yeah if that happened on a regular basis, then avoiding the problem usually avoids the beatings. See the point? It is the closed minded attitude of a large portion of society that cause people to be antisocial.
