Yeah, there are RGB SCART connections on CRTs too. The poster meant the effects of the monitor, not the composite cable or whatever. Look at arcade games from back then, with very nice RGB connections to CRT monitors. That's the "look" people are going for.

  2. Re:Just buy a CRT on Old Doesn't Have To Mean Ugly: Squeezing Better Graphics From Classic Consoles · · Score: 1

CRTs are free or extremely cheap, XRGB units are $300+. CRTs also have the added bonus of not looking exactly like running an emulated game, which is kinda the point of using real hardware.

The "dog vomit" is what you get when you let the market decide what programming to broadcast. Keep voting for those guys and one day there won't be any educational programming at all!

  9. Re:Casio devices? on Casio Paying Microsoft To Use Linux · · Score: 1

In the US Casio is mainly known for cheap music gear and digital watches, around the world and particularly in Asia they seem to offer a whole range of gadgets.

As a side note I got a very cheap Casio Privia digital piano at Best Buy recently and it outperforms ones that cost twice as much, so my only experience with them is positive. Their g-shock watches seem to have a cult following too, was shocked to see them being sold at expensive clothing stores (at insane prices).

  10. eh on Blizzard Reveals Diablo 3 (Real Money) Auction House · · Score: 1

This isn't going to stop piracy of the game, as someone who was only interested in the single player experience this just went from my must buy list to the must bootleg list. I encourage anyone who disagrees with these methods to vote with your wallets and don't give them a cent. Like another poster mentioned, buy Torchlight 2 instead. You'll be supporting the original Diablo devs that way anyway.

Hasn't Blizzard made enough money from their cash cow MMO to not need to load down their other games with moneymaking scams and DRM? They're turning into Zynga for crying out loud.

I assume you havent seen OSX or WinXP?

OSX may be pretty, but it's most certainly not "themeable" out of the box. in fact, the only real options you get in that respect are changing the color of the close/minimize/expand widgets at the titlebar (you can choose from graphite or fruity colored), and changing the wallpaper. I believe there are 3rd party apps that let you theme OSX, but I haven't played with them.
