... did quite a bit of theorizing on the sexual exploits which followed the end of the game. I can further deduce that this is not entirely isolated to my area or circle of acquaintances owing to the sheer number of pornographic "hacks" which exist for the game.
so they took an innocent game, introduced elements which didnt exist in the original, and youre still blaming the game for promoting "a misogynistic attitude"... youre kidding, right? this just further goes to show that these games have little to no effect on people whatsoever, and that its their own sick minds that cause them to do whatever they do.
madden 2004 a 'gateway' to getting non gamers to play a game? thats gotta be the joke entry, right? the game is pretty damn complicated, and i cant see how people that arent used to games that just want something 'simple' are going to be able to get into it at all. maybe the gamespy guys really liked it, but that obviously doesnt mean that non-games will, in fact, its probably the complete opposite.
the GTA games also require a lot more skill than people think. sure, its fun to bash around and stuff, but actually try and do a mission. it would be much better to do what i do with my brother, who rarely plays games, just let him load up my save after ive finished it and unlocked everything 100% (so he has immediate access to all the weapons etc), and then just let him run riot.
wario ware? a game where you have 3 seconds to complete you objectives on the fly without a pause? if i gave that to my girlfriend her game would be over in 9 seconds and she would be handing my GBA back with a WTF? look on her face.
counter strike? hahahahahaha whatever. these guys smoke some wicked crack sometimes. try quake3 on the easiest bot level or something. maybe once they can beat the bots on hard after 5 years they might then be ready to play online. you may want to repeatedly abuse them in the background while they practise as well. you know, just to get them ready for the experience online.
and with no animal crossing the list might as well not exist. its almost like they didnt put it in there so they would get attention.
the biggest question to ask is, can anyone just grab a sniper rifle and dominate a game? and of course the answer is just 'no'. its no different from games with a shotgun or a rocket launcher.
this guy sounds like the standard online FPS player, who just runs around with a gun and shoot anyone that you see mindlessly, or grabs a sniper rifle and sits in the one spot. he sounds like the kind of person that you meet a lot in online FPS games, that are easily killed just by using a basic semblance of tactics or strategy. and then probably whines that you are cheating.
its amazing how easy it can be to kill a lot of players online just by using a little bit of smarts to just run another unexpected way, or feign a door open, or by the biggest unused way - and the easiest way to get called a cheat - by actually LISTENING to whats going on around you, and acting accordingly.
half the skill in sniping well is knowing when to move and knowing when to stay put. i would say about 75% of the time in a game if youve been sniped you have a fair direction of where its come from, a ratio which goes much higher if the first shot didnt kill. so you obviously dont wanna hang in the same spot for too long, otherwise that 5:1 ratio he hangs onto is going downhill pretty quickly as some pissed people lends you a few bullets in your hidey hole to keep you warm.
sniper rifles have just as much weakness as SMGs, if you miss, there is a second or so reload time before you can deal any more damage at all, so you dont wanna miss. and in some games, you have to hit head or upper chest for a one shot kill anyway, you can drop someone with a well placed round in their foot. meanwhile an SMG is taking away 40-60 points of damage a second. at short range its much harder to use the gun obviously, as a lot of the time you dont get a recticle unless your looking down a scope. some scope views swing slightly to make you check your shot before just zooming and firing. you also tend to run slower with sniper rifles in some games.
all this adds up to something that you cant just give anyone and let the dominate. ive occasionally use the sniper rifle in games with amazing success, but never thru just sitting there and waiting for people to walk into my scope. you have to shoot a few times and move around places. think a bit. and other times ive been totally owned because i either played the rifle badly, or just because its not the stupid 'finger of god' this guy makes it out to me.
and besides, if the sniper camps the entire map and ends up with 10:0 score like this guy was complaining about, im sure all the people on 40-50+ kills on a standard 15-30min map cycle really couldnt give a shit.
'articles' like his sound exactly like all the n00b whinging on sever forums and the like about something they dont like, mainly a knee jerk reaction to that fact that they just got dominated by some one much better than them in the game they just played.
in australia, if you dont pay for your tv, you have the choice of 5 free to air stations. out the main three commercial stations, about 90% of their programming is a mix of game shows, current affairs shows*, fucking awful reality tv, and endless shitty drama shows, with everything from cop drama to law drama to hospital drama. and then half a dozen rapmovies each week.
i watch maybe 2-3 hours of tv a week, mainly whatever sport is currently in season. if my tv is on, then 99% of the time its because im playing on a console. although, at the ripe old age of 26, youd think i would be over such childish pursuits by now.
im suprised that tv stations get any ratings at all. then i remember i live in australia. dont let anything youve heard fool you folks, australia is full of sheep-like morons that embrace censorship, and need to be told what to think because they cant do it for themselves. anyone who told you it is a smart or lucky country was having you on.
australia is probably different because we dont have a million channels, but surely another point to make is that computer/gaming nerds probably have a much different appetite when it comes to television shows, maybe taking a more sci-fi, documentary preference when it comes to watching stuff. the 90% fluff that gets put on tv, which is just stuff to mindlessly watch, not actually get involved in (except for talking about the latest fucking crap reality tv show the next day at work) isnt worth wasting time on.

... just like i warn the people that push me too far at work... ive had extensive training over the last 20 years that has made me an expert in all sorts of fields...
... pistols, machine guns, rifles, heavy weapons, both world war 2 and current...
... unarmed combat, in multiple styles, including brawling, karate, ninjitsu, and all the eastern arts, including fighting with swords and nun-chuks, and axes...
... i can drive multiple vehicles, cars, trucks, buses, bikes (both sports and dirt, and even scooters), planes, boats...
... i have had combat training against nazis, zombies, aliens, robots, civilians, in multiple time periods, and ive battled in places where you can take turns to do stuff, or where you can attack each other at the same time...
at least someone thinks the same as me... i dont think its going to be the greatest thing in the world, but i am going to get one, mainly for the same reasons, i want a new phone, and i want to be able to play Smack My Bitch Up as a ringtone, so im close to your line of thinking:)
sure, its got design problems, but the fact that a lot of the biggest complaints from from the whole 'taco against your head' thing just highlights the fact that you can probably ignore the game changing problems, the screen problems, and every other problem, and suggest that nokias biggest error was making the target market the most self-concious, style-aware, psuedo-intellectual age group out of all of them.
its just that age old thing that says that the people that are unhappy with the product endlessly whinge, while the people that are happy are too busy playing it to say anything, so all the forums are filled with the whingers, while all the people that are loving it are currently out playing it.
so someone who doesnt own the game will see all the complainers and think the game is crap, because they rarely see people there to praise the game, cause all those people have got no reason to go to the forums.
people need to stop sulking about this and realise that its the smart thing to do.
i agree totally. i honestly thought he was just stupid and said 'rhetoric' when he meant 'intuitive'... either way i think he just wants to use a big word to sound smrt.
You made the standard, done-to-death association between playing games that simulate sporting activities and being a loser. How innovative.
Oh, and great 'point' on the "whats better?" question. Thats some quite amazing logic there. You're pretty much missing the whole point of playing computer games to begin with, which is obviously doing things that you might not be able to do in real life, but thats okay, you've already described the Xbox as 'trashy', so the fact that you are just trolling has already been established.
And then you make mention both DOAX and BMX XXX in the same comment, which are two completely different styles of game. DOAX is probably the first true foray of the 'Dating Simulator' into the western market AFAIK, while BMX XXX is a pathetic BMX simulator, where they forgot to include code for proper bike control and collision detection, and instead spent their time making links to the stripper videos included with the game.
And like most non-mainstream games, DOAX is a very accuired taste, so naturally YMMV. But of course it's still okay to call people losers if they like it, and it's definitely safe to do that, because it's got semi-naked women in it, so everyone who hasn't played the game will agree with you. For what the game is, from a western point of view, it's very innovative. I'll stand corrected, but I'm not sure if there have been any other honest attempts to introduce this type of game into the western market.
Using a beach setting gives the combination of being able to show off the graphics engine to a great degree with the sand, water, environment and obviously character graphics, even more so than was possible with DOA3, and using volleyball means that they can include a simple, straight-forward, easy to control game that won't instantly put people off with any over-complication or difficult controls, so they can get into the game and see what they think. To be honest, I think the only thing the game is missing is a secondary game that shows a little more depth, and I think that soccer/football would have done nicely.
would you be overly fussed if i asked if we could clone your wife? or possibly splice her genes with a playboy model? that would be really great, thanks:)

... i suppose thats what you get tho... if you create a 'real' world, dont be suprised when 'real world' problems rear their heads...... if they are human, then you are effectively hiring people to become virtual police, which would effectively become a full time job, which they then have to be paid for. how much do you pay a virtual cop? surely not heaps, but it has to be enough to be able to keep them from wanting another job.... if they are machine controlled then i can imagine a robocop style situation where the perp has stopped doing whatever is illegal, but the huge towering ED-209 is still counting down in preparation for destroying the bad guy due to some sort of dodgy AI loop.... i suppose the only other answer would be to endow certain heavy users with police powers, mods if you will, but not employed mods, people that just play the game a lot who are rewarded with police powers. powers which of course would inevitably be abused...
