Why does everyone cry "monopoly!" or something similar when Microsoft has a #1 product.
AC poster = flamebait, but why not? I'm on lunch.
Because, for the 15 billionth time, they ARE a monopoly. To continue the repitition, it's not bad to be a monopoly, it's bad to abuse it. This isn't under debate, it's a matter of law. Old news, move along, nothing to see here.
For good and sufficient reasons, not the least of which M$'s own internal communications, a lot of people who spent a great deal of time and effort showed M$ was gleefully aware of abusing their situation. And were looking for ways to accelerate the process. The quality of M$'s products, which is very much debatable, is irrelevant.
IANAA. But it seems to me, that being as the moon is way further up the gravity well, that it's 80% of the way to the rest of the solar system. So until that's no longer a barrier I for one cannot understand any space initiative that doesn't include a moon base.
just one more time used to defend one of these greed/power based moves, I may go mad. Thank you M$ and Bill for the exponential rise in the abuse of this word. Bastards.
If I wanted to read about the predicted business ventures of some corporation, I would read thier corporate section on their website. This isn't news, buddy.
Ah yes, companies always broadcast "thier" full intentions for the their customers/victims/competitors to dissect and consider.
This article didn't change my opinion since it was already pretty much there though not nearly as informed or detailed. My thanks to the original poster.
Never confuse "Fast, Easy Computing" with "Lazy_ass_user computing".
Not only that, but using ms update restricts you to using ms signed drivers. I for one don't wish to give ms that particular club to wield over anyone. They've proven to me they aren't responsible enough to be far to anyone, so I don't think they are entitled to be the judge of anything that makes it to my machine.
Secondly, there's no way I can believe that ms would acquire your data and subsequently throw it away. None. They are gathering stats and keeping them.
I've bought thousands of dollars worth of D&D books over the last 24 years
Of course, wotc doesn't care about anything pre V3.0 you may have purchased, that was T$R then. Their primary interest, I'd imagine, is seeing some gain on their investment.
My first response was going to be "well, if you want asteroids, go to the belt by all means, and just flick them back to the moon. doesn't matter how long they take too arrive, you can use the sun's gravity for free."
But on second thought, given the current political climate, I'm sure no one is going to be casual about the idea of giga-tonne rocks with trajectories anywhere near the earth.
Moderators: I think you mean "-1 troll" here. To the poster: when an entity has been found guilty, there's no shame in seeking a remedy. eg, if you are the competitor who was found to have been wronged, it's not asking for a bailout to continue seeking a real remedy. I would have thought THAT much was simpel(sic)
We need to put a foundry and a small biome on the moon. From those, we can build from those supplies.
A good point! Here's something that has stumped me for years: Why in bejeepers is everyone gung ho about mars? We've got a perfectly good stepping stone that's 9/10's of the way to anywhere in our solar system parked about 300k kms from us! Not only that, should the need arise, it's conceivable in time of need those stationed there could be evacuated. Perhaps I've just read too much Robert Heinlein (Methusalah's Children, for one. ) If someone wouldn't mind elucidating why the moon is such a poor choice, I'd appreciate it. Please, don't let it be merely that the moon is less interesting politically.

Up! Mod this up I say!

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Mod parent up!
-1 troll? it's about the article, and intended to be funny. I think the clod mod is a troll.
Did you happen to notice that 'the guy' is 17? I don't personally expect a lot of internet legal savvy from teenagers.
That has to be the nastiest splicing job I've ever seen. And what's with the gobby re-taping as well? Cripes man, get some heat shrink!

It's got nothing to do with the frequency, it's a comment on the attitude.
Right, only the US is allowed to nuke other countries.
You dork, you made me cry.
-1? knuckleheads.
at worst, score 0 funny.
He could spend it almost instantly, by trying to prop up AOL Time Warner. Didn't they lose 100bil last year?

I would think we should add a link to open office with the comment "My word, this version of office really does excel".

Bah. If the states say it isn't, it isn't?
