so you're saying MS didn't get enough credit for their innovations such as Visual Studio and.NET on slashdot? They get plenty of credit everywhere else for everything they do and plenty of money too - just that the people here don't really care.
Can you think of any other similar product which has more positive reviews than Visual Studio?
Why would a site bother giving equal/fair/unbiased coverage of a company which has a monopoly?
So a company uses 100 software engineers/$1000000 to create some innovation, you rate it the same as innovation developed by 1-2 people / $1000?
Okay okay yeah yeah, Microsoft has done some good things, wow a multi billion dollar company made a few good products PRAISE THE GODS FOR THESE BOUNTIFUL GIFTS which cost $1000 each.
because they charge too much money and have a monopoly.
i'm not sure if you are aware of this but linux is free and windows costs money - did you pay for every version of windows you have used?
WAS yes, now isn't - its changed most of the menus and such I just checked it out about an hour ago, last time I checked about a year ago it was fun, but crashed. Now it seems to work nicely and uses live data for the avatars so you don't need to download new sets, which is cool. Plus the IRQ, AIM and MSN plugins are integrated now.
It just seems fun again I dunno.
Odigo did something like this, but it had really cool icons and user profile pictures.
Odigo also connected to ICQ, Yahoo, MSN etc - it was pretty cool but trillian was a bit better and less buggy.
no way you'd ever confuse a transparency printout for real money, different textures and ink just doesn't sit too well printed double sided on clear. No way.
The American style is very traditional, still using Ye-Olde fonts and lines. When are they going to change and go with something new?
If that poll question said "Do you think the money could look better?" rather than "Do you think this is better than before?" the percentage would probably be the same because everyone would think it is better than the last design already... wouldn't they?
if you do what they suggest it will just get noisier and noiser until it breaks.
Which is what mine is doing now as I steadily go deaf from my underclocked AMD Cpu using AMD fan... Wooo Athlon 1600+ running at less than normal bus speed at 1.1Ghz just to stop it crashing..
yeah its like "If you are going to use free junk that someone else worked hard on as the basis of your project then you better damn well give something back you cheap bastard!"
My woman searches for the best free web hosts that DON'T have crappy TOS and apparently there is lots and lots of dodgy ones that claim all sorts of bullshit about owning your IP.
Though even if they say "we give you this free service and get to own your stuff" if they tried to own it you could still sue their arses and win easily because such claims are just not going to hold up.
You can't make just any claim in a TOS and expect it to stick if it's basically illegal (no money paid for the IP, no sale).
gestures are great for graphics tablets, icons are usually NOT on screen unless you are one of those uber-dorks with a permanent windows-bar up all the time.
why waste time porting to windows though? is it for sale?
This is an innovative game. I don't much care for any game developers claiming "First ever Blah Blah" because it is usually crap, I owned an Amiga and I am damn sure most "First Ever" games have already been done on the PC already if not on the humble Amiga back in nineteen-eighty-something.
So first Linux/Windows client is a shady one, but first non-killing MMORPG in 3D with the amount of playability it has is probably more worthy of a "first".
I played the beta a few times, if you are one of those people who hates these new FPS shooter killer games, then this game is probably for you.
It was great playing an MMORPG for free for so long with no "give me all your details, speak naught of this product" forms/contracts etc.
Not the best 3D engine on the planet, but if you even think about saying "pfft, doesn't look as good as Asherons Call 2" then you're just a nerd who shouldn't even be playing Role-Playing-Games.
What was the game that said "First 3D game ever?"... lol, my butt.
maybe put lots of details in a GPL/opensource agreement which states,
"none of the technology in this program may be used by Microsoft, in any way"
and lots of similar Microsoft style license agreements aimed only at them (and any company created by them to serve themselves etc)

trillian is free.

oops now i realise it is for small secure/private networks - sounds good for VNC type stuff.
that is the point. small secure networking, they don't seem to want to compete with the other 40 thousand P2P programs.
I dunno, I just hope shareaza will be compatible with it :-)
ahahah, thats funny!! - yes click.

$4 + $500 in computer gear + software + + + +..

and you'd think the Animation codec does a good job of flat colour - but it sucks badly at it, huge files.
People buy things because they are worth paying for now? Has Consumerism gone MAD!?

haha, yes that is a good reply. /me files that one down for future use.
HTML != art.

lol. yes that would save gigs of wasted EULA text file space too.

damn I want a keyboard layout like that, but I don't really want to relearn anything..

Nice :)
never played an MMORPG myself.
I imagine Star Wars Galaxies will be similar to this, except the players will be more annoying.
