However, there is a difference in file size. Apparently, it takes ~200kbps (I may be off) for Ogg to get a better quality-to-size ratio compared to mp3 (Lame encoding, I believe).
This is slashdot, so we don't read articles but notice a few things. 1) They said it would have similar performance to the N64 (actually it said a little faster) and 2) It shows a picture of Mario Kart 64.
Now those games are definitely not dazzling by today's standards, but they were tons of fun. And bluetooth networking could make for an eight-person battle mode game in mario kart... that would be sweet,
To me, this is the most exciting advance in computing since Ethernet.
First you need ethernet to get your pr0n from the internet, and then you need the solid state hard disks to access it fast! And you won't even need to back it up!
As someone taking his last round of tests, it is true they say that you can't talk about the questions. However, half of my math class was going over old test questions (and learning how to do them, of course). The AP board releases old tests every year or so.
Yes, I, for one, will be welcoming our new AMD overlords. And in 20 years, little Transmeta will kick amd out because everyone will want efficient and fast processors - more and more computers sold are laptops, and I feel that eventually electricity prices will increase enough to make running your computer an expense.
OMG it's the person behind pjrc, and he reads slashdot! I never finished my mp3 player, need to get cracking on that once school is over.:/ Just was surprised, is all. Move on.
Yes, you have hit upon the major conspiracy of the century. Many have pointed out micro-soft and long-horn. J-anus is the natural progression in the trend, although with a twisted point of view.
My guess is that the stolen bandwidth message actually came from the scammers and not the artists against 419 website. Their linked image is, after all, not on their server.
As to the grammar: the Nigerians don't use "proper" english, why should we?
I can see it now... "Swarms of little green gnomes overtook the herd of gnus amongst the green, rolling hills of Lee Nux. The gnu defence was valiant, but alas, not enough."
Your vote can also not count at all. Imagine candidate A gets 45% of all votes in each state, and candidate B gets 55% in each state. B wins every single state, ultimate landslide, when it really wasn't a landslide - 45% to 55% is a close race. So 45% of the electorate gets shafted in a unanimous vote.
The public has SO MUCH blind faith in science its disturbing. Everyone figures "well these guys are scientists, so they must know what they're talking about"
Then why do we have people dismissing evolution and asking for creationism to be taught in schools? People ultimately don't care about science. "If it makes my cars run and gives me TV, science is awesome." That's the "popular" part of popular science.
Not only what you say, but these things use MAGNETS! I thought hard drives didn't like magnets... except maybe if you have a grudge against someone hehehe...
As usual, emacs finds its way in there, even for web browsers! (and before IE is mentioned). Look here to see what I mean. (I do realize that emacs isn't a web browser, but still...)
The author of article specifically says that Firefox is an exception to the general trend. However, she doesn't name what project X is, and as far as I can tell, uses a lot of vague, unproven arguments, such as the one bashing gnome and kde.
"If I'd put the same person on KDE or Gnome, they probably would have spent half of their time fighting their own intuition, and the other half wondering why they were being forced to sit in front of such a clunky desktop when their Windows XP computer worked so much better."
Prove it. It might be true, but this is just a supposition. I haven't participated in an open source project and have minimal programming skills, and I can find my way around quite well.
If you have the time to compile from source, and have slackware, debian, or use RPMs, you can use checkinstall (found here: http://asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/ ) to make packages from source. Works great under slackware in tandem with pkgtool, as it gives you the optimizations that you need along with the benefits of packages.
Yes, until a worm can "mutate" randomly into different strains, and if some of these mutations prove to be beneficial, then we have Darwinian evolution. However, having it randomly change "if" statements to "while" statements, or other such changes, wouldn't work too well, and changing or adding other things most likely wouldn't get anything useful.
Or it could be "The Guide to Eunuch's Defenestration" - imagine a bunch of geeks throwing Eunuchs out the 6th story window. A slightly disturbing image to say the least.

I don't consider myself clueless and it's a Big Deal(tm) for me.
Well of course you don't consider yourself clueless, that's the whole point - you're clueless. (please guys, this is a joke)

Doh! Apple's software sucked, so they needed to patch it up more. We all trust Microsoft from the start, and don't need service packs.

Yes, he doesn't know that Michael Savu reads slashdot.

And as far as I know, Apple/IBM aren't including "trusted computing" any time soon. So they are going to be even more open in some ways.
The problems with your phrasing are:
My 2 cents.
I, for one, accept our new chatterbot overlords.
In Soviet Russia, our new chatterbot overlords accept you!
Imagine a beowulf cluster of soviet chatterbot overlords!
But more seriously, although you can get hilarious conversations out of these bots, ultimately I don't see how they will help AI developments.

Can you make a beowulf cluster out of 'em?
