    How about less fanboi?
I've had a look back through your comment history and I have to say you do seem to me to be a bit of an Apple fan, and you're certainly someone who seems to think Apple gets too much criticism on this site.
But in this instance you're flat-out wrong - as others have pointed out, getting a change this simple through on a major site really shouldn't take too long (48 hours should be more than adequate), and the code they've used makes it pretty clear they're being sleazy.
    It's not unjustified criticism.

Not really. Make "some" 95% if you want - makes no difference. If 95% of the animals that end up in PETA's hands are so fucked up that the only humane thing to do is put them down then that's that. You could argue as to whether 95% of them really are that fucked up but I'm happy to take PETA's word for it - their hearts are in the right place.

Every bloody time there's a PETA article someone posts this, the implication being that becuase PETA kills some animals they take in, they're either inconsistent or they're evil.

It's such a crock. PETA have responded to these accusations any number of times, the gist of their response being that the animals are so severely injured or traumatised that it's better they be put down. I don't see a problem with this response. I know PETA's a favourite whipping boy for Slashdot folk (along with Greenpeace and vegetarians - another time perhaps) but whatever you think of their views or their tactics, criticising them becuase they put down severely injured animals really misses the point of what they're about.

I'm currently cycling around the world and this is what I do: 1) Google Drive + Chrome for anything that's a document. File sizes are small and I *really* can't afford to lose some of this stuff so it works even on the shittiest wifi connections in the craziest of places. 2) USB sticks. Lots of them, posted back home as and when. Admittedly I don't take the volume of shots you do but an 8GB stick holds plenty of reasonably high resolution shots. YMMV. 3) External USB drive. As above, just posted less frequently. 4) rsync. I pay a commercial provider to let me rsync the contents of my hardrive (well the photos, anyway) to their infrastructure. With compression and a reasonable wifi connection this works just fine - I tend to ensconce myself in the corner of a cheap cafe for an hour or two once every couple of weeks - works well.

Dude - you're not doing anyone any favours jumping up and down with the anti-semitism bullshit - save it for an occasion when it's actually true because if you don't, all you do is devalue the term and that's probably not a good idea. And really - the NYT is *vaguely* middle left, hardly the extreme left you imply. By international standards it's still pretty right-wing. 'Take out Saddam and his government who we think are building weapons of mass destruction that could be used against us or our allies' is (if supported by real evidence) an example of a legitmate mission for America's army.

I hope I'm not a lone voice. Your justification for pre-emptive war against a sovereign power only requires evidence that they are manufacturing WMDs. That's all. The rest is a 'could' and you can justify anything with a 'could'. Iran are making WMDs (probably true) that 'could' be used against the US and it's Allies? Well of course they 'could'. They could be used, legitimately, in response to a pre-emptive strike from the US or it's Allies! Israel 'could' use it's WMDs against the US or it's Allies too. Not enough reason to invade them though (IMHO). I don't think evidence of manufacture alone is enough to justify attacking another nation. If they threatened to use use them against the US or it's Allies then maybe. Maybe. And that's only if you can make a strong argument that pre-emptive war is justified either at all or in these specific circumstances. But just because they have WMDs? No.
