http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/recent.cgi A massive gallery of uber cool models made by AFOLs. There are some really amazing models posted here.

http://www.brickset.com/ A lego set refrence that has just about every lego set ever made. Want to get a list of every classic space set made in 1978? This is the place.

http://www.bricklink.com/ Want 150 tan 1x3 bricks? Buy them individually from fellow collectors all over the world.

http://www.lugnet.com/ LUGNET is the Lego User Group. It has an interface to all all of the Lego USENET groups, and is an easy way to keep on top of all the relevant lego news.

http://shop.lego.com/ Of course there is LEGOs homepage. Online shopping, and all sorts of other interesting stuff. They just released a program on the lego site that allows you to build virtual lego models. That isn't really amazing, since LEGO cad programs have existed for years. However, they seem to be ramping up to allow people to build virtual models, and then order the parts to build them online! Every lego fan's dream come true...

  18. Intellignece (Reasoning vs. Knowledge) on Kim Peek, aka Rain Man Focus of NASA Study · · Score: 1

What I'm curious about, it while he may be a walking encyclopedia of fact, how good is he at reasoning? I Googled the name, 'Kim Peek', to read some articles about him, but they are not clinical descriptions of his abilities and limitations.

For example, if we can take Dunstin's performance as a roughly accurate description of how he might behave, an interesting scene is the 'Quantis is Safer' bit. Tom and Dustin are trying to get somewhere. Dustin's character insists on flying on Quantis, on the grounds that it has the best safety record, having never crashed a plane. That is a fact that has a bivalent value that can be checked as being true or false. However, the scene illustrates that the character portraied by Dustin cannot deal with relative 'Fuzzy' concepts very well. Since major Airlines are very safe, and the relative numbers of accidents are so low, nobody worries if you have a .00001% greater chance of dying on one carrier over another. Most people would see this point very quickly, and simply buy a ticket on the fastest flight, or cheapest fair. How is the real Kim at this sort of reasoning?

I mentioned 'Fuzzy' concepts above; there happens to be a branch of logic called 'Fuzzy Logic' that deals with set logic, and vague concepts. Things like getting a computer to work out how tall you have to be before you can be called 'tall'. It would be interesting to give Kim a book on the topic and have a discussion with him about it.

You make a big assumption. Reletivity applies only to objects with mass. If you try to set M = 0 in the equasions, the zero causes the math to blow up. Travel at infinite speed sounds to me like teleportation.

More to the point though, this is a huge waste of time and money. Solve a few simpler problems first, like say, the grand unification theory. It would probably be a better first step.
