Do you really think you're being fair here?
Yes, a lot of college students are getting fairly savvy on the Internet and what tricks many companies will pull, in order to have you click on their banners.
But that doesn't mean everyone is going to understand it. It's not really fair to classify everyone as a "moron" who falls for this.
And yeah, people should read EULAs, but our rights are there to protect us somewhat. And the girl was most likely just reporting it because she didn't want to NOT do something and get in trouble for "ignoring a message."
Just because people are not as educated on something as you, does not make them a moron.
Just because a school is "accredited" does not mean it will be recognized as a full education.
I know people who have gone there, since I live near Redmond. The courses are extremely focused. True, it is a limited scope, but there still should be a broader approach. I.E. Why are only programmers and graphic artists being trained there? What about the directors and producers?
Also, let's say you spend 4 years there and go to work for a company which makes games. If you wanted to leave the field, you'd likely already be pigeonholed. If you get a broader CS or Comp Engineering degree, at least you have other openings.
Just something to think about, before jumping "willy nilly" into such a narrowly scoped environment.
My roommate and my TiVO knows that we are gay.
In fact, not only does it record anything remotely "gay" -- but it also records things that women regularly enjoy.
I.E. Sex in the City, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc...
Even when we tell it not to record certain shows, it still records things in that genre... Evidently TiVO is trying to tell us "No, you are gay... you WILL enjoy this program."
Oh. Right. We forgot....
Hmmm, so if you wanted to talk to someone on the phone with a deaf person, you could do what Jerry and George did here, and cover your mouths with tissues, etc while you talk.
All of life's puzzles can be solved by Seinfeld...
Actually, yes.... especially when you consider a faulty/damaged car can be a hazard to other drivers.
That's exactly what an unprotected/wide-open computer can do for the rest of us... That's where all the IRC-clone DDOS attacks are from: unguarded (or otherwise damaged/compromised) systems.
So for my money, if it's broken, you better fix it... because if you don't, it can hurt what I own -- even if mine ISN'T broken.

Livejournal is another great substitute for Blogger... plus, it's open source. Always a bonus. =)
In that case, I've got a bunch of mail that is in violation of their patent rights... Yeah, a bunch of chumps selling various enlarging products, and so forth.
I guess I better forward it all to the company, so they can "Deal with" the people who are violating their rights.;)
Actually, I'm a WA resident. If you register your email as "not wanting to get spam" (there's a website to do it on), then spammers (or to be "PC" about it... Commercial Bulk Emailers) are supposed to use that list.
If they email you on one of those BS "Opt Out" mailing lists, that is one of the grounds you can sue them for.
$200-300 per email isn't bad, considering I usually get 10+ spam mails on a bad day.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but/.'s subtitle is "News for Nerds"... not "News for People Who Claim to Be Hackers, Whether or Not They Actually Are or Were One"
So how about not generalizing and lumping everyone who reads/. into this category. Maybe you're just taking "this webpage" too seriously...
hah! how about his spoken word version of "Slim Shady" he did on Futurama. Scary.

Is this legal?
Sure, Sega isn't making hardware anymore, but how is the company allowed to make use of the product -- even modified?

Hmm. Or they could turn around and come beat all of us up who posted bad comments about them, a la Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...

"Yeah, so?"

Doctor: BOT 3826, cauterize the primary right aortic valve.
;)
Bot: *pause* I'm sorry. I can't do that.
Technology... oy.
I believe it is something only available on pre-made computers, although that may be changed in the future.
It is a tweaked version of XP, mostly.
But surely it will be released at some point.
Slashdot reader/poster.... girlfriend.
;)
I believe the scenario you actually meant was: Clippy says, "I see you are losing your mind. Would you like some help with that?"
Actually, yes.... especially when you consider a faulty/damaged car can be a hazard to other drivers.

Can anyone explain to me what him being the "co-founder of XML" has to do with Office 11? That seems like just tossing names out...
I.E. "Shawn Fanning, founder of Napster, loves ___ (insert tech area here) -- yet we won't give any explanation how this is relevant"

This brought to you by the talk-about-obvious-statements dept....
It's worth noting that the article was pulled, thanks to this thread.
Check out the article on that here.
Hm... seductive pictures of Tux would be amusing though. :P
What do you mean futurists are wrong? ::zooms off in his flying car::
I mean, Street Fighter was SUCH an awesome movie once they did the live action version of that.
How can it fail?!?! heh...
Is this related to the previous story about the Korean guy dying from "too much gaming"? We younguns can take it... but they can't? ;)

Wait... Protest us FROM....
But... the ads said...
Hang up on them and get an email from them later. Same thing if you ignore their emails.
