    Use his influence with the federal government to tie the open source effort with terrorism. Terrorism is the new communism. Cloak anything you don't like in terrorism and it gets done. Couple that with this administration's ability to be bought off by corporate interests and he can get what he wants. OK, mod me down now.......

    As a former Commodore user (only got rid of my Amiga about a year ago) one really has to wonder what the point is?

    New Amigas? Kinda late for that don'tcha think?

    A shell for nothing but endless litigation? Maybe Darl can get a job there after SCO's shareholders call for his head. Even then sounds like Tulip pulled a coup actually getting a sucker to spend more than 2 cents for the name.

    I love bashing M$. I love bashing them tremendously and open source, TRUE open source on Windows is an excellent thing.

    Obviously we all know what open source means but to the average Joe M$ user switching to open source means changing platforms for just about everything.

    If we can get people informed as to what open source is on Windows first, then our evil nefarious plan to make them all switch to Linux should happen with less difficulty.

    Open Source is a philosphy, not a platform.

    We constantly have a nightmare about people on our network installing spyware (we're half green suit/half civilian). Some day, some enterprising young person will create spyware with a key logger phoning home passwords galore. We already had a problem with HotBar clogging our pipe.

    Admittedly we are't suppoed to be discussing classified information but we deal with politically sensitive stuff all the time.

    The FACT act says that people in western states can get this now but some states, specifically Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont, have required credit bureaus to do this for a while.

    Maybe I am wrong (and PLEASE correct me if I am because others may be laboring under this same idea)...
    1. Firefox gets developed as an open source product
    2. Netscape, by AOL, flounders and they basically fail in their mission
    3. AOL kills Netscape development
    4. AOL seeing a better mousetrap that's open source, decides to get BACK in the game on the backs of hard working open source developers everywhere.

    On the other hand I am all for any initiative that can handily take on IE.

    I know that a lot of folks when thinking of the Open Source wars think that it's about Linux replacing Windows but where I work we are replacing Solaris with Linux.
    It's mucho easy to do.

    Rest assured, Google has thought ahead. They do have geocoder type apps in the works and this is just a logical acquisition to make, ESPECIALLY when you're flush with cash (Don't forget their stock price has really climbed). After all, if you're going to use Google Local then you might want to provide a map.
