A lot of time the cost of the product is in R&D and creating a market by making people aware that it exists. If your competitor just makes an exact clone their only cost is tooling and manufacturing which will be considerably less than yours.
You're basically saying it would be fine for a chinese company to clone an iphone and use Apples software.
The Apple analogy is a poor one. That's pretty much what Chinese and Korean companies have been doing: replicating the hardware design and styling the software to look like what Apple produces. Have you SEEN the Apple Watch clones? The difference is Apple is the big dog, and has the clout to take them to the mat in court.
You're a Stompin' Tom fan, right!??
I came from the city many months ago
Sold almost everything and it gave me quite a stake ya know
I bought me self a section of the finest farmin' land
But how they make a fortune I don't understand
I bought new machinery the very best to see
But always buying new parts and half me crop is weeds
The weasal took me chickens, while arsenick killed me cow
The wife went home to mother, the black earth got me sow
I'm a poor, poor farmer what am I gonna do?
A poor, poor farmer full of rabbit'stew
A poor poor farmer always on the go
Prayin' to get my farm work caught up before the snow
The rabbits ate me garden the hail took all me wheat
It seems I'm working round the clock, I'm really gettin' beat
Grasshoppers came the other day just like a million goats
Before I knew just what to do they cut down all me oats
Well I loaded up the grass seed and started off to town
Seems like every mile I made the price kept goin' down
The most of it was stuckage from wild oats to flax
And when we came to settle up I owed them for the sacks
I'm a poor, poor farmer what am I gonna do?
A poor, poor farmer full of rabbit'stew
A poor poor farmer always on the go
Prayin' to get my farm work caught up before the snow
I woke up this morning feelin' mighty low
I gazed upon the patatoe field all covered up with snow
First me wheat, then me oats now me spuds are gone
The grub box is empty, how will I carry on?
But still I got me freedom, my credit rating is high
Don't have to pack a lunck box or heed the whistle's cry
I'll always be a farmer I don't care about a thing
And if I can get the tractor fixed I'll combine in the spring.
I'm a poor, poor farmer and I'll always be
A poor, poor farmer cause farming is for me
I'd rather be the farmer cause farming's what I love
And I'll still be a farmer up in the land above
I'm a poor, poor farmer what am I gonna do?
A poor, poor farmer I'm full of rabbit'stew
A poor poor farmer always on the go
Prayin' to get me farm work caught up before the snow
And that's the way a poor poor farmers life must go
It may have something to do with the fact that when a missile is launched backwards from a fast moving aircraft, it'll be flying backwards for quite a bit.
Do you have kids? Being a parent of a toddler or even a kid up to 5 or so means you have to have a Boy Scout mentality. BE PREPARED.
Toting around a few extra pounds of stuff (change of clothes, snacks, first aid, entertainment) is worth every extra joule it takes to do so.
There'll be an app and mobile piss drones. If you gotta go, just push a button and in a minute you'll have a nice hovering tinkle drone (that's a great name for the service "Tinkle") at your command. You'll get charged extra for #2, perhaps by the ounce?
ugh.
If I were to buy a new EV today, with the pace of improvements, in 5 years what would the resale value be compared to a IC vehicle?
Battery lifespan, new technologies (faster charge, better range) and one would assume lower prices for new vehicles...I can't see EV user prices being very good after 5 years, and virtually nothing after 10.
What about buying used? The last car I purchased used was for cash, had no paperwork other than that required to licence and insure. There was no EULA.
Not to mention the general freak-out people concerned with clinical trials, good clinical practice, drug safety and the like are going to have. You can "make" whatever you want, but you're going to have to still go through the process of testing, trials, and so on, even it's a copy of an existing drug using new manufacturing techniques.
(I think)
Gawd I'm old.
That is all.

And those services are shit. If you think Canadian Netflix is bad, check out the awesome selection of content on Shomi or Crave.

Do you mean it's "time" for "popcorn"?
Wouldn't it be great if we could turn China into a ally instead of an adversary?
It's a moo point. -JT

This is merely the result of Apple being primarily a hardware company and Microsoft being primarily a software company.

This makes a little bit of sense, which is frightening.
"That's the joke"
Now nested folders can keep users' heads company ;-)
Colbert a news show? Oh dear...
Now that you mention it... http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
Brazilian weapons? That's a lot.
But it's a white flag now. Somehow that seems fitting...
Guess not...
There are video and effects pros on both sides of the Windows/MacOS fanboy war. Let's not forget that little company called Adobe.
