  1. A few ideas on Combating Harassing Use of Mosquito Noise Device? · · Score: 1

That has got to be torture. Seems like a device an evil overlord would use to torture his enemies (and minions)
Change the pitch so that it is lower. (that way he can hear it too)
Get two ultrasonic speakers and position them so their interference patern is right at his front door. (Might take having a neighboor help.) Make it play sounds of doorbells ringing. Or wire his doorbell to a remote so you can make it ring. Often.
Or like others have suggested, disable the evil device in a manner that that is not noticible.
Wrap his house too (in TP.) Egg his car. Sue him for damages to your mental well being. Blame everything bad that you do on temporary insanity.
Just take a baseball bat to it, or get a neighborhood kid to do it. (Think "Office Space.") Those things aren't cheap. Maybe he won't replace it.
You could pettition the neighbors to have it removed. Call the police everyday. Have your neighbors call the police everyday. Have your neighbors gather around to tell the police that they hear it too. Have your neighbors gather around his home with shovels, pitchforks, and torches etc. Tell him that he is being banashed from your neighborhood.
Write the local newspaper\radio\TV stations tell them your story. Tell them how the badguy makes babies cry. Get them to mention the badguy's name.
Send him brochures for local retirement homes. Give his phone number to a few of them so they can call him often.

  5. StarBand.com\6000 Model uses Ethernet on Experiences with DirecWay Satellite Internet · · Score: 1

From what I've read a while back, the 6000 Model uses an Ethernet port instead of a USB port. I used two direcPC Satellites about two years ago, (one for my Geeky GF and one for me) we had some old model at first then got some 4000 models, but only the the receivers not the transmitters. I was looking into Satellite internet again since some of my family lives out in the boonies... Personally I'd go with Starband.com since they don't have the Fair Access Policy (FAP) it has some high startup fees but many different plans... The best one seems to be "StarBand Model 360 Standard Plan" with a 3 year contract, $699+S&H and $49.99/mo As mentioned in the original post, latency sure does suck. I would go dial-up only when I wanted a hit of EverCrack. But with a Bidirectional Satellite Modem, you would have to pay extra for the dialup service, so as long as latency(gaming) isn't important then Satellite should do just fine. I eventually got rid of the service when mcloudteleco.com started offering Paradyne reachDSL service. Although it is not as fast as direcPC, it is cheaper, and there is no FAP Cap. For more info on the FAP go here: http://www.copperhead.cc/fap.html Also, I was unable to connect through IPSec when using the satellite, I don't know if anything has changed since back then, maybe the 6000 model doesn't have the same limitations as the earlier versions.

  6. Brainfingers.com No Surgery Req'd on Matrix-Style Brain Interface Closer To Reality · · Score: 1

http://brainfingers.com/ I think I'd rather have the Brainfinger's solution. Except for the shaving your head part.. they basically have electodes that sense certain brainwaves.. you learn how to control those brainwaves using biofeedback(basically a graph on the screen, once you learn how to alter the levels of those brainwaves you can control the Brainfingers) it adds 10 different Controls that you can use... Looks like the price has gone down too ($ 2,050.) Although, surely with technological advances, the detection electrodes will become more sensitive.. I don't want to have surgery or shave my head... :/ now I suppose Surgery would be required if we eventually wanted some sort of Video and audio input directly to our brains.. A nice little DataJack that connects to the spine? Hmmm Video prolly needs to be connected to the visual cortex. Cochlear implants already exist maybe we just need to install a mini-SPD/IF optical jack for audio input? maybe use Bluetooth for a Personal Area Network(PAN) Heart Attacks are dangerous.. I could deal with a Preventitive Pacemaker that monitors also Monitors Blood for Sugar, protien, temperature, and Heart Rate. Come to think of it my eyes aren't very good for seeing in the infrared or UV Spectrum.. or for reading newspapers a few miles away, Geordi's Visor would work, but maybe just new eyeballs would do. Actually there is a whole list of neat bio-implants from the Shadow Run RPG that would be nice to have Adreniline Pump? super efficient kidney and liver so I can eat fish with mercury? Lungs with a compressed O2 reserve? Anyone else have that dream where you are underwater and swimming up towards the surface, but never get there? Not to mention the ability to hold your breath when on an elevator with a bean eating fiend! Small and large intestines that are ultra effcient so you can eat less and create less waste when on your interstellar voyage. my $.02

Changing the oscillation would alter the value of a second and minute... there are certain gear ratios that could be slightly altered and a diagram the clock would still need 60seconds to be one rotation of the second and 60minutes to be one rotation of the minute hand but the gear ratio for the hour would need to be altered and the circle of hours would need to be changed too... A Much more simple solution would be to accelerate asteroids and\or maybe a few comets and speed up the rotation of Mars by 39 minutes. that way even the people with digital watches will be happy. Oh and for good measure NASA needs to invent a Planetary Radiation Shield since Mars doesn't have a strong magnetic field...(just like in Master of Orion 2) really just the side facing the sun needs to be shielded I think the night side can handle stray cosmic rays.. But really the planet will never be able to keep a decent atmosphere if solar wind strips the gases away from the planet...

I also installed DameWare Mini Remote Control on their computers so at anytime I can take a look at what they have on their screen from the comfort of my own computer. With this setup it is kind of hard to monitor their Chat conversations.I've heard that SpectorSoft is good for Key Capture, Site Logging, Chat Logging, and Screen Shot Logging, but it costs $99. Other than that I don't actively block any sites, but when they are grounded I exclude their IP from the router. There have been rebates in the past(about 5 years ago) that I had sent but never got anything back, but all of the rebates I've sent since then I have recieved. Some times its a nice way to get things on the cheap... like Keyboards and CDs.. when the rebate is for the amount paid, the only things that you don't get refunded are the sales tax, Envelope cost, and Stamp cost... to name a few products, the Memorex Keyboard I'm typing on and the one for my wife, the pretty Blue TDK CD-Burner I got for my Wife, Blank CDs, LinkSys NICs, LinkSys Router, Lexar 64MB Compact Flash with USB reader(cause dang my Parallel one was slow). Many rebates stipulate 1 rebate per household, for those, I use my brother's or mother's, or friendly neighbor's address :) It never hurts(much) to take advantage of a good deal, but most of my purchases are made through Pricewatch.com, but Dang that shipping can kill ya when you just need a keyboard, or CDs or a NIC, and who likes waiting? At first glance it may seem silly that, there are products that are free after rebate.. but like any promotion, it attracts people to the store and those people will be exposed to other products, and those people with extra money might just be able to buy the STNG Series DVD Box set or the Robotech Anime collection, or a new video game, or a book, or a CD of a favorite band that you have all of the MP3s of, or a new optical mouse with faster response time so you can get a few more frags. ::sigh:: I need to get a job so I can buy stuff!

You could get a Deep Cycle gell cell battery(Doesn't release fumes)and get a DC/AC inverter..

Most inverters loose about 15%-20% of their energy when converting DC to AC, so instead of using an inverter, you can search Google to find a DC ATX Power Supply for the computer... and maybe you can find an LCD monitor that runs from DC Power.. With all DC Components you can nix the inverter and have longer battery useage.

For charging you could get a battery charger that has a charge indicator.. just mount it on the cart with a retractable cord.

    Good Luck!
