Considering that free software has not even caught up to the level of ease of use of Microsoft software, exactly when is it supposed to suddenly leapfrog them and take the ease of use lead?!?!?
When they start taking a cue from Apple rather than Microsoft.
M$ products are really easy to use for the people that use them.
That must explain why I have to go through the AutoCorrect setup and uncheck at least 20 boxes anytime I want to sit down and use Word on a new machine...
Interesting...This list is the exact opposite of this one. Well, I guess we know who respects their users (ie, understands WHY they have a job in the first place) and who feels that the library denizens are "one of those things" that the admins must "deal with" from time to time...
(Also it is illegal for a telemarketer to call a cell phone, because of the charge ensued from having to use minutes).
Not entirely true. It is illegal for a telemarketer to use an autodialer to initiate the phone call, but it is not illegal for a telemarketer to call your cell phone if they hand dialed the number. See this post earlier in the thread for the section of the TCPA that states this. I only know this because I was debating taking the Washington Times to small claims court for calling my cell phone to get me to subscribe (the person on the other end didn't know what my number was to remove it from their list because "the machine dials the numbers for us").
Ahhh...The quote that's magically disappeared. I only ever saw this the first time the Hullabalooza episode was aired. Every time since then the talking shoes aren't shown and it cuts straight to Burns' quote about buying TicketMaster. Is it like this everywhere, or is it regional censorship or what?
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the free 32MB flash drive you get for their screwup.
HP will provide one free 32-megabyte USB Flash Device for each notebook identified as having affected memory module(s). To receive this incentive, customers must complete all of the following steps for each notebook:
Order the replacement memory module(s) through this Web site.
Replace the affected memory module(s) without the assistance of a service partner or HP.
Return the affected memory module(s) as directed.
I get the feeling there're going to be a lot of flash drive RAIDs being made out of these...
why, clippy of course! he always seems to want to help me make a list, so i let him. now if only i could get him to actually perform the tasks...microsoft, you listening?
Because when everyone sees pics posted online of just how lame the museum is, they won't want to bother going there themselves...

The concept of the CAPSLOCK key is so dead, that it predates personal computers. Yes, I'm talking about typewriters. Many many many old school typewriters had a key [quite often located above the left shift key] that was a shift-lock. It would physically hold the shift key down so that you could type in all caps. It was very useful for filling out forms, typing headings, etc. (you know, the same sorts of things you use it for these days). It only was really a pain when you'd forget to unlock it when you wanted to type a number.
i used to play around with RAM disks on my old mac 6100. the great thing about macs back then was that you could copy the system folder to a RAM disk and set it as the boot volume! [they removed the ability for RAM disks to survive reboots a while ago...don't remember exactly when]. anyways, if you had enough ram, you could copy the system and web browser, word, etc to the drive and have a system that would FLY! watching the system 7.5 boot process take all of 5 seconds on a 60MHz machine back in the day was a geeks wet dream [well, minus the part about it being system 7.5].

It is clear that they are going back to existing code and optimizing it while they are adding new features.
I wish other manufacturers would do this as well.
Are you trying to tell me that Microsoft doesn't do this with each successive iteration of Windows or Office? I find that unpossible to believe...
I'm surprised you didn't include user@host.com. It's bound to be somewhere in the top ten. [yeah, i'm too lazy to check it myself].

you forgot to use the word "beleaguered" in there...
For production, I dont think Adobe Photoshop is ready yet (version 7 by the way).
I think you might want to let Disney know about that...
going for some indie cred, are we? :-p
and yes, all good mags [altho i've never seen edge]
We need a 3d input device, perhaps like the ones used in Minority report?
Will this do?
They took away my little green blob in Mozilla Poweroyster!!! Although I still get update notifications if I click where it used to be...

interesting that a guy with the name spacerodent and website spaceratspants is more interested in deep ocean exploration than space exploration...

But then, why wouldn't you want an E450 in your trunk?
for one simple reason...because i don't have a car (you insensitive clod). and i certainly don't want an E450 in the, ummm, "trunk" that i do have...

My 2 words are RAM DRIVE.

Also note the different wattages on both chips. Although, quite honestly, that just makes this whole scheme even more confusing...
Ugh...Just promise me you won't start in with any cleavage, thrust, or vergence jokes...Pretty please!

Funny, I thought artists were some of the poorest people in the world...

Ahh, yes. I'm sure many a regular slashdot reader remembers the days when coke used to contain coke...
