    marketing messages do not always equal spam. For example, Apple sends me marketing messages all the time, and they're not spam.

    also, in 'lay terms' (think you mean "layman's terms") 'spam' would be "sending you mail you don't ask for", and 'marketing messages' are not always 'spam'.


    This can't be emphasized enough! I've seen plenty of people call emails from companies that they have a business relationship with "spam." Yet, these are the same people who don't bother to uncheck the "I do not wish to receive product information" checkboxes. In fact, I've watched a few people order things online and I've mentioned to them that they may want to uncheck that box. A few weeks later when I'm at their desk and they're complaining about receiving "spam" from LLBean or whoever, I remind them that they chose to receive those emails! Of course, there's real spam mixed in there too, but a lot of it is because of those little opt-out checkboxes that they decided they didn't want to uncheck...

    I've often wondered if defragging and defrag utils are more of a placebo for people concernced with system performance. In my experience I've never noticed any perceivable difference after using a defrag util, on either OS8/9, OSX, 95, 98SE or XP. Then again, I've always made sure to have plenty of free space on my disks [and made sure they were fast enough] whenever I've done anything seriously disk intensive like multitrack audio...

    On the Van Helsing movie site's front page, only one link actually goes to the movie's page. There's links for a video game, a cartoon, repackaged versions of old monster movies, and even Van Helsing merchandise.

    I can't seem to get through to the Van Helsing site, but is there a link to Amazon or anywhere to purchase the Dracula book? And why did they change the name of the character from Abraham [named by Mr. Stoker after himself [Bram is short for Abraham]] to Gabriel?

    And no, I haven't seen the film yet. Although I did finish reading Dracula last week, without realising that the two were related. Quite a good read...

    Yes, it's quite interesting and insightful that a press release put out by the SCO Group would have as it's source, get this, the SCO Group...[wtf are the mods smoking???]

    I really dont see what the big fuss from some politicians about going to Mars. 500 years ago sailors went to the New World (risking their lives) with really no garunteed return on investments.

    What about the possibilities of finding the shortcut to India, or the fabled Fountain of Youth(TM)? Sure, there weren't any guaranteed returns, but if they were successful then they certainly would've been well worth the investment...

    Please oh please somone MOD ZOGGER'S COMMENT UP!!! I can't believe how many people are unaware of PNACs goals, let alone their call for the "Pearl Harbor" like attack on American soil, which IIRC was written in their first public document. I've shown their site to I don't know how many people, most of which dismiss it as a hoax (even the true Bush-haters). Believe me, IT IS NOT A HOAX. They very clearly spelled out their plans in 1997 (even earlier if you look into Wolfowitz's documents from the first Bush administration). All they needed was a puppet whose ass they could all shove their hands up, and boom - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Seriously, please look into it, read it, digest it, and think about it when it comes time to vote again...
