"...to add video and then look for outlets like these to be the distribution medium. it might also be a welcomed new outlet for independent film makers who are left only with IFC and a few other places for their films, especially "shorts" (films typically under 30 minutes).
Isn't the internet full of porn already?
" It's all good. Just encapsulate the OGG in the AVI. AVI can hold almost anything.
So, slashdot.avi?
Baby Jesus cries. No. I'm crying. Except I gouged out my eye-balls with a spoon. My mistake, I don't have eyes. My basement is sooooo cold. Smeagol is tired. Smeagol sleeps.
"Dashboard? Innovative? Its just a copy of the many other widget platforms that have been available for quite a few years now. Calling dashboard innovative is like calling Internet Explorer 1 groundbreaking. If anything it continues Apple's tradition of taking the ideas of successful mac shareware apps and including a copy of the app free in the os ala MS."
I tend to agree that it's not innovative, nor revolutionary. It is evolutionary, because it's a 21st century update of Desktop Accessories, which precluded Konfabulator by about 20 years.
"But at the Windows Digital Media Group, which is charged with software for portable players and the WMA format, using an iPod is not a good career move.
'In the media group they all smoke the company dope on that one,' the manager said."
"Advice for Returning to School After Long Break?"
I hate to use a cliché, but... Just do it(TM)
After you gather all of this information, do something useful with it. I remember being in college and having a classmate who was in his early seventies. He had been a successful businessman, but had never earned his degree. So instead of spending his retirement playing shuffleboard and bingo, he chose to challenge himself and accomplish something.
"It is FAR different for an [organization] to expect that level of work in a non-ceasing manner from their entire dev staff, knowing full well that it destroys mental and social health.
Yet, we ask the same from open-source developers. Hurry up! We want out patches! Fix this! This doesn't work like it should!
"Get a Mac off ebay, and mod the case to put a PC in. I have never tried this though, it may or may not be possible."
Search ebay for B&W or Quicksilver cases, you can sometimes pick them up fairly cheap. The cases are really nice, very sturdy, but you'll have to do some modifications to get the motherboard inside.
People are going to be extremely uptight about this, but this water will probably more pure than Dasani or Aquafina, since they are nothing more than filtered tap water.
We freak about purified water that comes from a questionable source, yet most of us probably think nothing about cooking with tap water (I certainly have no idea where my tap water comes from, other than the faucet).
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Slow down there a second. Is your XBMC (XBox Media Center) up to date? If so, yes, you can watch TV.
Otherwise, you will need to connect to http://xboxupdate.microsoft.com to download the latest patches.
Afterward, you will need to reboot the XBox by simply holding down the X, Y, right trigger, Select, and Start buttons while simultaneously depressing the Left and Right Thumbsticks.
Then you will need to open up the XBox, using only a butter-knife, 2 meters of duct tape, and the gentle hands of a neurosurgeon.
After connecting the XBox to your co-ax TV output cable, you may then watch TV through your XBox Media Center. Easy as pie!

Now it's become downright scary. *sigh*

Does EVERY fucking article concerning compressed audio have to stick this little jab into each headline?
Slashdot's open source... "no WC3 conformity by someone who's so accepting of open source"
I tend to agree that it's not innovative, nor revolutionary. It is evolutionary, because it's a 21st century update of Desktop Accessories, which precluded Konfabulator by about 20 years.
Linux on the Desktop / BSD *not* dying.

Don't take the brown acid, man!
Pfft.
2024 called, it wants its joke back.
My sig seems to get +5 funny, every day.
My wallet just got substantially thinner.

It's never too late to go back.
Yes, he has toped the "Forbes CEO Approval Tracker" for the 18th month in a row. Full article here.
I'm certain that time you spent gaming will help your career immensely.

Ironic, don't you think?
Somehow, I don't think that will be a problem around here.
Search ebay for B&W or Quicksilver cases, you can sometimes pick them up fairly cheap. The cases are really nice, very sturdy, but you'll have to do some modifications to get the motherboard inside.
Check out how this guy did it.
And that's why it'll fail.
Apple - Proudly Going Out Of Business For Over 30 Years
Think Chapter 11
I'm sorry, were you talking about Slashdot, or Fox News?
Thank you, Microsoft, for helping me determine what is, and what is not, my priorities for an enjoyable web browsing experience.
Thank you, Open Source, for opening the eyes of these huddled masses of consumerism, and showing them a better alternative.
Bravo.
So, does this mean IE is dying? I'm confused.
Apparently, Steve seems to think so. I can't wait for the next Windows Conference:
Total Cost of Ownership, Total Cost of Ownership, Total Cost of Ownership, Total Cost of Ownership!
I'm sure its got a beat only Steve can dance to.
Not at all.
Unless your name is Sarah Conner. Otherwise, I'll be back.
