We know. I'm an offroader and an electrical engine would be great. Unfortunately they don't hold enough charge and aren't reliable enough. Try dumping one in water a few times and see what happens.:) But yeah, the torque would be perfect.
Deal! But.... everytime a kid is killed by a drunk driver you have to raise taxes on cars. If a kid meets someone on MySpace and gets assaulted you have to pay more tax on your computer purchases. Then we'll all work together to tighten up control!
Sorry. A gun is a tool. Just like any other tool. If I hit you with a bat it doesn't mean bats need to be taxed more.
What speed test did you use? You need to use one on your ISP's network. If you use something on like dslreports.com you are depending on all the links in between. I'm on RoadRunner Premium and my test shows I'm getting my full 8Mb/sec.
The fans coming on more is a good thing. It means the heat is going out the heat pipe and not the surrounding case. My MacBook gets HOT. Hot enough I can't keep my finger on the case above the F keys for more than a second at times. Hot enough it leaves marks on my legs (if I wear shorts) a while after I stop using it.
Having said that... I redid my heatsink paste and found no real difference. My CPU temps match friend's figures and their cases aren't as hot as mine.
Not sure this is a Duo problem. The new Thinkpad T60s with Duos we just got in get nowhere near as hot as my MacBook Pro. There are times I can't touch part of the case on the MBP for longer than a second. The Thinkpads aren't anywhere near that hot, just a little warm.
Yes, TS can do that but it takes more work. Is it worth it to you? That depends. With Citrix it's a simple check box on publishing a single app or publishing a whole desktop. I don't even use seamless apps on our deployment.
Lenovo has a lot of people here in the US. They support a lot of jobs. There are a lot of Thinkpad manufacturing and support jobs right here in North Carolina. Lenovo is about to move their HQ here.
We've been a Thinkpad buyer for many years and haven't seen any change or decline in quality or service. We just got in a few of the T60 and X60 notebooks that are brand new. The Core Duo T60 sure runs cooler than my MacBook Pro. We have enough new Dell and HP notebooks come through here to know that we're still purchasing the right equipment.
You use Citrix for a couple of reasons. The biggest is printing. Citrix has a pretty solid print system that can handle about any printer. You don't have to worry about specific drivers in most cases as you can use the Universal Print Driver (UPD). This also applies to other platforms. So, I can jump on my Citrix farms from my MacBook and still print without ever doing anything unique. You can also attach to Citrix from almost anything.
Citrix also allows more in depth clustering and load balancing than Terminal Server. The down side is that Citrix is very expensive. You have to license the Terminal Server clients and then add citrix on top of it. Is it worth it to you? That's up to you. It is to us but we offer published applications to outside customers and I have no way of knowing what type of printer(s) they have.
Oh yeah, Citrix also allows seamless applications, which Terminal Server can't do. This lets you just publish the app and not a complete desktop.
It doesn't. There is no way to get 1080p in to a TV right now. No current interface has the bandwidth. All the TVs that currently say they do 1080p just convert a 1080i signal internally.
Anecdotal info: Mine doesn't do it. I got a 15" 2.0 / 7200 100GB yesterday and it makes no noise but the quiet fan whir. I don't get anything close to what a few people have recorded.

If you want FW800 get an ExpressCard with it. Have you seen the inside pics of the MacBook? There is *NO* room for any other ports. It's packed full. They dropped the things that the fewest people use. Do people still use AV outs on a notebook? Every projector I've seen in the last several years had DVI/VGA hookups.
If you want benchmarks go talk to the people that bought the new iMac. The MacBook is basically a portable iMac. The only unknown left is battery life.
Years ago people didn't lock their doors because everyone knew each other. Years ago you didn't need a firewall in many cases and these things weren't on your mind. Times change and you have to protect yourself.
Many of the complaints in the submission sound like bad IT or mis-directed policy. AV might block a server from sending SMTP mail, but how is it supposed to know it's legit? The IT staff should be telling it which is legit. Users shouldn't be responsible in a corporate environment for patches and updates. That's the Network Group's job. They need to be making it as painless as possible for the end user. I don't expect my users to know about updates and patches and exploits. That's why my team is there.
Close to $1K by August? No. Go price premium notebooks from other companies. Notice I said Premium. IBM/Lenovo just announced their Duo notebooks this week..the T60 line. They aren't even showing up for order yet and they'll never sell for cose to $1K. Notebooks don't plummet in price like the desktop side does.
There are already VMWare images of OSX to run out on BT sites. We played with one at work. I'm sure the people running it on normal PCs will just wait a few days to patch the release version and there won't be any issues. The key is to have the hardware that matches the current drivers. There is an HP notebook running around my office I've seen with OSX on it with full wireless and everything going.
When Apple lets other people sell OSX they lose a major advantage; the end to end experience. A lot of people buy Apple computers because "they just work". Apple knows that it's going to be installed on and how it will be set up. If every cheap PC maker started installing OSX it would be no better than Windows. Just like people blame Windows for not being stable when it's actually drivers for cheap components and 50 demo apps pre-installed, they would do the same with OSX.
You're right! They should fix these bugs before release...in some period where things are still be fixed. Maybe call it....Beta, yeah, that's it. Oh wait....
All this review and no mention of playing on Live. DOA4 has a great Live setup. They've extended the lobby in to almost another world. I don't get in to the lobby, but I'm sure a lot of the Japanese players do. You can tell who their aim was.
As for playing online... It's fast. It's fun. It keeps a lot of stats and achievements and seems to have a very good match making system. While playing I never felt outclassed and I was never just killing people. It kept matching up with good opponents.
First, I don't think there is a real overheating problem. My 360 that I got on release day sits in a closed component rack. No heat problems. The power brick is on the carpet under a nice layer of cables like all the others. No heat problems.
I think some people got some defective units which MS is fixing. They are doing more than I've seen any other consumer electronic company do by overnighting boxes and paying shipping both ways.
As for other devices... Most modern computers can't be put in a closed area. My desk has a nice closed spot for a mid-tower but it gets HOT. My cable DVR gets real hot in my rack and after killing 3 of the previous model it was determined that was the problem. It's getting more and more common to have to worry about these things even on consumer electronics.

The eMachineshop was on here a long time ago. Cool stuff, but very expensive to have done even for a simple bracket.
No single person or organization put up $12K. A lot of people chipped in a few bucks at a time to get to that level.
It doesn't. There is no way to get 1080p in to a TV right now. No current interface has the bandwidth. All the TVs that currently say they do 1080p just convert a 1080i signal internally.
You can swap notebook harddrives. They are standard these days and aren't hard to do.
As for the rest...well...that's the cost of going so thin and so light.

It's not speculation. I've heard it from VMware people this week.

Good point. I have a MacBook Pro on the way so it doesn't matter to me right now. :) But OSX on some of the Thinkpads I have would be nice.

What I get for skimming.. I didn't see the word Live so I missed it.
