    As an organization or community gains increased exposure it is more prone it will gain the attention of those with nefarious intents. Spread FF servers are running Apach on Rhat, so this was not a MS vulnerability but more likely Drupal CVS. Perhaps it was a local attack from Oregon itself? Incidents like this will only continue to rise. IT is the obligation of the F/OSS community to ensure the GNU/Linux vulnerabilities are eradicated to support other F/OSS projects like SpreadFireFox.

    What with the assimilation of Daniel Robbins' Gentoo "I'm helping Microsoft to understand Open Source and community-based projects." and the hiring of Bruce Perens at a marketing firm, who will carry the F/OSS flag for the little guys? I look to RMS and ESR to maintain their positons of power and be the bastions of hope for me as a contributing developer to various F/OSS projects. We are losing our focus as a group and need a strong leader to rally around during these turmultuos times.

    Since most businesses use M$ products these students will be lagging a bit behind the technology curve with respect to using the standard office tools. I applaud the move from M$ products, but we have to be sure and think of the children. Until M$ loses it's stranglehold on business desktop computing efforts like this can not gain traction in the real world of business and making money.

    I do not assume, you sir are a moron. It is a global economy and yes components are manufactured and assembled globally. That is a fact of business that your shady buying parctices have devolved to. The question is: Do you support the American company that is required to pay American taxes on revenue to the local Amercian government to support crazy things like roads and hospitals and schools, or do you support the oversees company? If you choose the latter you are no better than the terrorists as you are part of the problem that is destabilizing our great country and turning these Great United States into a third world power.
