Care to elaborate on this? I'm just sitting here looking at the source code for the Oracle listener, so maybe you can tell me which part of the listener will ensure that the database on a machine secured inside the network and not directly accessible from the outside can be accessed?
Just because the listener is accessible on port 1521 from the outside, doesn't mean the database itself is directly available.Depending on what identification method is set up, you may have to identify yourself to the listener first using one of many ID schemes before the listener will connect you to the database itself which may be well protected behind a firewall..
I wish he had known what he was writing about before he actually wrote the damn article.
Well, I am the only one with the name I have,. there are 23 people with the same last name as I have in the whole world, how would you feel in that situation?
Luckily, everyone but me lives in a country with strict laws and regulations when it comes to privacy and the individuals right to privacy is paramount same with freedom. Not something that can be said of USA at all, no freedom, no privacy, and a lot of ra-ra cheers...
Americans will accept this with a smile, they will even stand up and fight for taking away rights from them, just as long as you don't take away the soap operas and the reality shows, you are OK, you can take away all the rights and liberty you want, they will not protest but assist you in doing so.
Where I come from 20 years is ONE year shy of the maximum sentence you can get for 1st degree murder. Nobody has ever accused USA for having reasonable sentences, quite the opposite. And this is no exception, it's pure bullshit.
Esp. in this area since the two parties are so at the throat of each other that it is difficult to take anything they say for good fish. Gerta Keller is quite hateful and very angry because her funding was taken away after some umm unconventional outbursts from her side.
I think everyone should take her research with quite a few grains of salt, she has been in a bitter fight for years over this issue and she has been quite obnoxious when it comes to the topic of Chicxulub and mass extinction. Until this is confirmed by independent research, nobody should take it for gold.
What you do, is to take numerous supertankers, 200,000+ dwt make each one into a multi gigaton nuclear device, fit it with remote control and GPS, sail them into position and set them off remotely. Such ships can be in the order of 10 gigaton devices.
Well, when all you hear in this country is "USA #1" and "God bless America" and other such nonsense, can you blame him?
I just came back to USA after 2 weeks in my European home country and in many ways, it was like going back to a third world country. As much as I love USA, there is no doubt it is socially a third world country. And when you see how much religion is part of the ongoing election campaign and the school system, it's no wonder USA is losing it's technological grip either. US kids are falling behind the rest of the first world kids in all areas because of lack of education funding and because idiots are destroying science education because it dares teach things that are contrary to some 2000+ year old goat herder and camel driver scifi book.
In 20 to 30 years time, USA will no longer be considered a technological country or innovator but a theocratic country with innovation on par with the Islamic world. It's sad!
Well, with over 2 billion cell phones in circulation in January 2006, I would imagine the number have increases somewhat, so yes the total world market is a few billion. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=707714
With a potential of several billion phones, I'd sat not that good. But then again, a lot of people will always buy new stuff, and of course all the Apple fanbois. It will be more interesting to see the sales figures over the first few years and then form a more valid opinion than based on the first 75 days.
Personally, I was interested in the iPhone, but I'm an old fox, so I decided to wait and see and right now, I will never buy one. I don't like the way Apple and AT&T did this, nor do I like what is currently happening, so I vote with my wallet.
I think Americans are using the population density as a bad excuse for their horrible connections.Check out the following map from NASA showing light density which correlates to population density. http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/image/earth_night.jpg
That is what you get when the population listen to Rush and Bill O'Reilly and think USA is #1 in everything. When the truth is revealed, you Americans are clinging to absurdities in order to try to discredit it and make USA look like #1 when in reality it is 23, 45, 38, 61, 17 in most stats.br?
I live in a high density area here in the US and can still only get crappy cable and DSL and which cost an arm and a leg and where "unlimited" is strictly "limited, just that they will not tell you how much "unlimited" is limited. My family live in a low density area in a Scandinavian country and have cheap 100Mbs fiber. They call USA a 3rd world internet country and they are correct.
I'm sure there are some warranty information that came along with the phone when people bought it that clearly stated that the warranty was voided if the phone was modified in any way, shape or form other than as approved by Apple. If people don't read it, it's really not Apple's fault now, is it?
Ok, shoot me, I spelled it incorrectly...:)
What I'm trying to say is that I was not surprised at all, this is exactly what i expected would happen when I heard how locked down the iPhone was before it was launched. Personally, I have held off buying one because it was locked down and because of the AT&T contract.
So, I really don't understand why people was so surprised when it happened, nor so upset. I do agree that Apple shouldn't be allowed to such things, but this is US of A, the home of moneymaking at all cost, so it was not unexpected.
The class action law suite should be thrown out, every Apple customer know that this is what Apple does. Apple is no better than MS, in fact, in many areas they are worse then MS.
No, the problem is that the wast majority of Americans are dumb religious morons who think creationism is a great way to explain how the universe and eventually humans came to be. And then goes on to claim that almost everything can be explained by reading a 2000+ year old goat herder and camel driver scifi book.
Lol, yeah....
It amazes me that people see Apple different from MS when they both use the same tactics. Apple is no better or worse than MS, one has tons of vocal fanbois, the other tons of haters.
Yes, if you can not afford to pay for your medical treatment, you will most likely die unless the medical condition is of such a nature that it can be treated at the emergency room at a hospital. If it requires long term care, you will be kicked out and must fend for yourself.
You see, most Americans look upon taxes as theft, thinking that the government is stealing their money and they couldn't care less about their fellow citizens, just their own money.
Oh, I have gotten over it, it never was a problem really... I was just reminded about it today with the pissing match. Thought I was gonna ask, that's all...
Really?

You mean "42", right?
Where I come from 20 years is ONE year shy of the maximum sentence you can get for 1st degree murder. Nobody has ever accused USA for having reasonable sentences, quite the opposite. And this is no exception, it's pure bullshit.
Aye! This is true.
Esp. in this area since the two parties are so at the throat of each other that it is difficult to take anything they say for good fish. Gerta Keller is quite hateful and very angry because her funding was taken away after some umm unconventional outbursts from her side.
Gerta Keller... *sigh*

No, bad idea.

I'm not interested in any of those shows and the ones I want are not there or nobody offers them. So, I prefer a legal way of getting them.

So, New York city must be 100% on 100Mbs fiber then? And only like $20/month, right?

Careful now!
Someone may leave behind a rootkit and you'll need a doctor...
Btw, do you come with a spam blocker?
Like, only if your brain isn't like a sorority girl, like!
Lol, yeah....
