However there is a new David Weber novel called By Schism Rent Asunder just out today which is the second of a series and involves a space faring Humanity that is beat down by an advanced race bent on exterminating man and now exists only as one hidden colony of religiously run anti-technology folks. One person's mind wakes up hundreds of years later in a robotic/computer mind and body and is left with the task of 'becoming Merlin' and bringing the factions back up from a pretechnology mindset. The first book brought massive sailing ship battles and a fine Machiavellian story, I've no idea where the second book goes, just picked it up today. I have a couple Neal books but they just aren't real page turners, in my opinion that is.
In the realm of things that don't matter except that I've been told for more than 40 years that Pluto is a planet then told by some 'Congress of Ass- tronomers' that it's not - screw those smug smirking bastards. I have a problem new to me, you know, the burner refuses to work any longer. Put an external Plextor drive on and it works but the regular installed DVD burner doesn't work any longer. This story has to do with installing an app and it breaking other apps. Seems similar to my mind. I love my Apple stuff, I Tunes is great for organizing music and I especially like the organization of podcasts and online radio stations. Great stuff but the article talks about Apple having installed an update that breaks other things, - I have another thing that is recently broken - so I ask a question and perhaps someelse has an insight or knowledge that I don't have - so whoever said I'm a troll - Go F yourself.
Just wondering, all of a sudden my DVD/CD burner makes coasters for me and there isn't anything different on my computer. I've refused I-Tunes desires to update for a month or so but maybe it slipped something in to screw with my other apps as well? This is not cool.
As someone else did mention, a great well reasoned reply to the MS fanboy 'What Me Worry?' dolts who can't see the absolute throttling of our rights and use of our own computers that is being attempted. It's hard to use reasoning and logic with some people who only respond to misleading advertising involving pretty women and 'cool' looking people and promises of 'more realistic' smoke for their gaming experiences when in exchange you give your ability to use your own computer as you see fit. Vista is the stink bomb and it's flagship whoopsie doo game Crysis is bombing as well so to me it seems like there is hope for people to not be fooled by it all.
That's the first way I saw it, I liked the movie as it was, narration and possible happy ending intact. I'm not an idiot for liking that ending, you're not superior or an idiot for liking whichever of the other endings or versions you like. It's an interesting story how the movie was changed in the first place and it's journey to today but at least Scott didn't go and lock the version he didn't like away like that other clown did. And what the heck, in a couple of years they'll be selling another version with a copy of Final Cut Pro so you can cut it the way you want like a NIN CD.
Nice attempt at a character assassination. But the review as I've seen on youtube seems honest and fair. The folks I've read who have also played the game say it's a honest and fair review. You don't have to stick a pile of dung very far up your nose to know if it smells or not. You don't have to play a game all the way through to the end to give it a fair review. Often times the paid for ad is on the page next to the review. Heck, I even saw on TV the other day Morgan Webb say how great Vista was. ???? All you do to yourself then is prove what we already knew, that you were a sellout and not to be trusted for an honest review. Game reviews? Are you kidding? You can gauge how big the swag bag was by the number of glowing reviews and 'it'll get better' reviews for what crap game you'll actually hear about in a few months after the release when you can read articles in those same magazines like "What went wrong with Halo" (looking at one of the new mags now). My other pet peeve with reviewers and critics is the 'I'm smarter than anyone else snarkiness' and the plain mean and nastiness disguised as 'cleverness' that is everywhere as well. So I'm not feeling sorry about this guy is he was mean and snarky in his tone. They should fire everyone who is like that. But honest and fair reviews and criticism? Why would they start doing that now?
A fellow without much credibility in my book since the dustup with Ursala LeGuin over his posting her entire one paragraph story and then not allowing comments on his fake apology to her. Putting up a comment board to comment on his stories and articles from around the web and then not allowing comments, what a concept. Also if you mention that fact on his site you get the dreaded 'removal of your vowels' censorship. Funny how the most avowed 'liberal' folks turn into little Nazis when given a tiny bit of power.
